Root Cyanogenmod 7 Battery Issue

theres alot of differences on each device
mine can handle a max of 1113 some can do 1154 (mine used to but cant now) some can still be stable on 1190.

what launcher are you using Abdur? if its ADW i find ADW is laggy on all phones no matter what you have so it might be worth trying a different launcher like GO

I'm using adw ex. I like the orientation set to
portrait otherwise can get some fc like refreshes

itll be different then, different advice for different kernels.
ADW is inherently laggy
i have always removed it from CM7 after installing golauncher

Yeah, using ADW. Will change. The lag was not only present in the launcher, but while browsing as well. I changed the max freq to 1036, and it is running smooth as butter so far :)

(Still using ManU, seeing a noticeable difference in battery use, Thanks again Rasta. :) )

:)

Rasta: Do you know whether this Kernel is undervolted? If so, is there a table for the voltage vs Speed? (Like in Dan's(SURoot) Kernel FAQ.

mmm....just noticed in spare parts a big chunk of time when device was awake
but screen off :-\ says it was email app

I assume that turning data off wont stop this?

hi ok will try that. but isn't it needed for mail stuff? ie push
cheers

that disables calendar sync :-(

If you turn on Auto Sync, you can see which accounts should sync and which shouldnt.
Try it. Tap on the accounts and deselect mail or something.

ah right. sorry. I get what you are saying now :-)
I've only got the calendar set to sync anyway as use exchange mail app

its not undervolted, its adaptive. however its an advanced kernel where you can specify the variables via script
speak to dan about that as he loves messing with those

Check out the mail app settings. The sync/notification stuff should be there. :)

@Rasta: Will do mate. Thanks a lot for all your help!

1d 1hr so far with data mainly off and. medium use.
62% left :-) so 3g is the killer.

dis notice that there is a big chunk of time where screen off but phone awake :-\

will need to sort out my tasker script :-D

managed a whole day with 3g on and moderate use. mail texts web and still had
50% left at end of day :-) cool

I am finding that the battery drain on CM7 is a bit more than I expected. As others noted, it seemed not too bad in the beginning, but now is draining faster than it used to.
However, where I notice the drain is when the screen is off, ie: when I wake up in the morning, the phone seems to have lost 20-30%. Nothing different as far as settings from other roms, that I am aware of.
So I am wondering if this has to do with the kernal? governor? CPU? Can someone point me in the right direction on all of this? is it worth trying a different kernal? where do I find them, how to know which one is made for what phone/rom? What are all these various settings I've been hearing about - governors, ondemand, smartass, setCPU, overclock/undervolt, etc etc.
I like CM7 and wouldn't mind tweaking it a bit to get better performance from the battery, but am still fairly noob to lots of this stuff. There is sooooo much info out there... so I defer to my favourite experts for advice :D

hi CC.
that is a shame. I'm finding my battery is still ok. no worse than
stock.
could it be wifi wake lock bug?
or you could try dumping 3g data at night ?

cheers
dan

yeah on cm7 site it says you have to make sure wake lock
is turn off else it slams the battery.
do you leave data on over night?

also, how come you aren't charging your phone overnight :-D

OK - not sure what wake lock is, or where to find this setting?
Yes, I leave data on over night - always have, never noticed much difference in the past.
And most of the time I do charge overnight, however since the battery drains a bit quicker, sometimes I need to charge in the evening, so then when I go to bed, I have a full tank - but not by morning :-(

ok i see - in your case i dont think wake lock will be issue then as guessing this only impacts when wifi on - obviously - so your issue is 3g data drain - which i have always found very high on my phone whatever the rom - i would try turning it off overnight and see how the battery goes - plus it will stop you being woken up by emails :)
