Damageless ROM?!

Anyone having this issues with Damage's new ROM? I like it so far but am having some issues that I haven't seen discussed over at XDA.

1. When you hit the phone button and it pulls up call history all numbers are unknown. However if you click on "call history" to the right of the dialer, then it will bring up the actual contacts...the same list but with the contacts vs. "unkown".

2. When I try and compose a text message through the stock app, it only pulls up my contacts email addresses, not the mobile #, making it a big pain to text.

3. Won't sync with google...even though I have to sign in each time it reboots (known issue).

4. Stock email app won't change the display for # of emails waiting to be read...the first # that shows up stays there, even after the emails have been read.

Any ideas out there...have rebooted a number of times. Wiped 2 times. Have yet to re-flash.

So, for a quick question to anyone that did the Baseband Update on 1.5 software. Is this ROM working perfectly for you?

I am thinking of going through the long process of...

1.56 RUU
Re-root
Flash DamageControl 1.0
Reinstall apps
See how it goes, then think about installing the baseband update again.

Any ideas? I am also debating the possibility of still just waiting for the official release and see what arises from that.

Not a single one of those problems here... Though I only use gmail, not the mail app, so #4 doesn't really apply.

Anyone ever have their's lock up in the morning? I put it on the charger last night, and this morning when I woke up, it was frozen. Green light stayed on, even when I unplugged the charger. Calls wouldn't come through. I ended up having to pull the battery.

I have not had a single problem since I flashed the ROM.

knock on wood.

Well, besides the marketplace not telling me I had application updates, like it usually does..
hmm.

ok, the problems i am having is i have a voicemail and when i check it it goes to *86 like on my old phone, it says welcome to virgin mobile, when you put in your phone number nothing happens but you cant clear that notification.

i can make outgoing calls, but tried to call my phone from my wifes and it says my number is unavailable. i then tried it a few more times and it worked no problem, goes straight to voicemail when i hit decline, then when i dont answer it goes to voicemail as well.

the gallery thing is cool, but when you flip to landscape it messes up, flipping back to portrait is fine. when you click share there is no option for messages. However, the photos widget works fine.

so my main problem as of now is i am not getting voicemails, i left one with my wifes phone and it doesnt show up. I do have the voicemail message that says i have reached virgin mobile.

I Cannot send picture mails, i downloaded the zip and want to flash, but when i reboot holding home and end button it brings me to a screen saying do i want to clear all user data, i chose no.

i did not sync with facebook because i am scared of getting 200 people imported into my contacts. i guess a way around this would be to star everyone in my phone book now and use that as my phonebook?

i havent tried handcent yet either, might switch back if my voicemail doesnt work.

Go to menu button, settings, call.
you can change your voicemail number to your phone number there, as well as clear voicemail notifications.

I don't know why your number would be unavailable, maybe it was just a network problem at that time?

Known issue. Try watching a video through the gallery, when you exit your video the gallery will work in landscape but not in portrait hehe.

See above for possible fix. Personally I use google voice for my voicemail.

rename the picture mail zip to update.zip and put it on your sdcard. Try rebooting your phone through adb with your phone connected to the computer.
c:\android-sdk-windows\tools> adb reboot recovery

I've never synced with facebook. I have it, but the people I care about I have in my phone with pictures anyway :)

Handcent for what? I know there was an issue with handcent not sending MMS even with the fix, but I know the stock works with the fix.
I've also read this morning that the new version of handcent now works with the MMS deal. So you may wanna try that after you get your MMS fix applied.

Ok, I flashed the ROM last night. So far everything seems to be working okay with the exception of one thing; screen rotation. When I first tried it, it took forever to rotate. In fact, I initially thought it wasn't working at all. I tried it this morning and it seems to be responding a little better, so maybe things just need to settle in. It's a bit slow in rotating with the keyboard displayed, which was a trait of the 1.5 ROMs as well. I thought I read where some said rotation was snappy even with the keyboard on screen, so I'll just watch it for a bit.

Other than that though, I really like what I see so far. I have installed most of the same apps I had before , yet I have 40-50 megs more available to me. Cool! It's pretty snappy so far and I haven't really experienced any lag other than what I previously mention about rotating. I believe I read where setcpu is not needed since 2.x ROMS manage memory a lot better, so I haven't installed it. I need to play with it some more today to get used to the new features and new configuration settings.

By the way, how to I set up live wallpapers? I'm sure it's harder on battery life, so I probably won't use them much. But I'd like to play with it a bit, as well as show it off sometimes.

Did you reboot after your initial boot after flashing? Typically I reboot recovery, flash rom, boot rom, power down, power back on.
Everything is snappy for me, even screen rotation with the keyboard active.

They were not included in v1 release, as they don't work well at all and alot of them don't work at all.

If you wanna play with the live wallpapers, I know Fresh 2.0b has them included. You could flash that and mess with them if you really wanna. Just remember they only work with stock home, not sense UI.

per an XDA post: To try out the live wallpapers, you have to disable sense. go to menu>settings>applications>manage applications> HTC sense and click clear defaults.

Though I haven't done it myself (edit DOES NOT WORK) thanks blampars, just reread the XDA forum and people are saying it doesn't work)

Just tried it, no option for the live wallpapers like in fresh 2.0b

I believe you need to push the launcher2.apk first (i think?) but I'm not sure if they actually have it working or not.

Thanks Blampars,

I was able to update the MMS through the computer, i can now send them to my wifes phone (Samsung Moment), but she now gets the download button which she has never gotten before, and it appears the pictures have been downgraded (more fuzzy), i guess its better than nothing.

The voicemail sort of works, i can now check them by dialing my number, i did like the stock program on our phone before rooting. However, when i get a voicemail it sends me a text message saying i got a voicemail, and when i check it it sends me another text. Is this normal? Text looks like below

"9016: //ANDROID:*vvm.coremobility.com has sent you a Sprint Voice Message. Call xxx-xxxxxx to Listen ....."

if i then call my voicemail i can retreive the message.

Just downloaded handcent and that works as well.

still wondering if i should do the Facebook Sync.

Yeah, visual voicemail with Damage ROM does not work. We need a leaked sprint 2.1 to get the voicemail to work properly. That's why I'm using google voice for my voicemail right now.

As far as the voicemail text message goes, since you're using handcent for text messaging, you can just go ahead and blacklist that number. You'll no longer get notified about them. Out of curiosity, do you get the voicemail notification in your notification bar as well as the text? or just the text?

If you're interested in the google voice approach to visual voicemail, you can get an invite off ebay for around $1.30 and pay through paypal. Download GV in the market and get it set up. If you follow the thread posted below, you actually get a quite nice visual voicemail system working to replace the stock sprint VVM that you're used to. :)

make Google Voice mimic Sprint Visual Voicemail! - xda-developers

as far as facebook sync goes, just do a nandroid backup of your current configuration. Try the sync, and if you can't get it to work how you expect/want it to, just nandroid back to your non-facebook sync'd setup.

thanks again, no the only way i know i got a voicemail is by getting that text message. Nothing shows up in the notification bar. Going to try the facebook thing later, i might just download pictures of everyone and do it that way.

ah ok, prob best not to blacklist that number then so you know you have a voicemail.
I never gave it a chance, i had just immediately set up GV.

You said that after you open the first text that you get a second. If the second one is coming from a different number than the first, you can probably blacklist that one so at least you're only getting one notification instead of two.

regarding google voice forwarding and/or sms messages...
xda-developers - View Single Post - make Google Voice mimic Sprint Visual Voicemail!

I didn't do anything like what he suggested in blampars' link, but this one post in that thread is what you really need to know if you just use the app to set yourself up like I did. (I hate handcent). If you have problems, deactivating and reactivating on the gvoice website is a good idea (that's what fixed mine a few days ago) and gives you the correct *codes.

I never blacklisted anything, and I don't get any odd texts or notifications that need to be hidden.

Also, I didn't need a gvoice invite. I just set it up through the application.

Can someone sum up if it's worth going from fresh 2.0b to this rom. I've already got all my apps back and my phone in order again, I don't want to wipe again if its not really a big difference.

What if any "bugs" are you experiencing with 2.0b? Do you use the camera for video a lot? If so, this would be the primary driver for considering the switch, but it will require a wipe to do so.
