I also have Baseband version is 32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11.
I have tried the 4636 fix, which makes the signal less likely to drop for voice calls as it favours GPRS when 3g/H is weak.
Tried airplane fix, works for some ppl not others. So...
Remember I definately had no problem with my replacement phone for 2-3 days, and I have seen other people say that it worked for a week or two before stopping working, suggesting that it is software, and possibly a problem with the radio version, or the software that controls the radio. I have read people have had it working for ages by keeping the 3g connection on all the time, but when they switch it off, 3g is gone for good.
I think it's something to do with the systems that switch the radio on and off, or from the wi-fi to the 3g. I think that the problem also COULD be related to the APN screwing up, perhaps due to apps or whatever.
I installed Apn switch, which deletes your APN and then brings it back again. it worked briefly for about 5 mins, then screwed up again. now i cant get it back.
The desire/nexus also has the problem of very poor 3g reception anyway, that loses a lot of signal when your hand is on the back of the phone. this is seperate and compunds the problems.

i'm on orange, and was intending to upgrade to a desire next month, (on the 17th july) but now with the problems i've been reading, not sure if i should wait to see if the Galaxy S comes out on orange, (anybody heard anything on this?) or possibly get an iphone 4?
The iphone is more of a last resort, to be fair, i would prefer an android phone. Just found the galaxy s on orange website coming soon list, so might wait for that to come available... although some users are reporting cases of the galaxy s "lagging" when opening apps... Is it likely that the signal problem on the desire can be fixed by a radio update from orange/htc? I'm desperate for my next phone to be a "good one", so to speak, and not let me down, like my current omnia hd does at least twice a day.
