Date you ordered and received the phone vs. "will ship by" date

waiting 3 or even 6 weeks is fine if that is what your told upfront but being told something will ship and it doesn't is what I told the csr I was most upset about. the waiting and not knowing is pure BS

I dont have to have the phone by today or tomorrow or even next week. But I bought it expecting overnight shipping to go out yesterday. and it didnt and on top of it the in store clerk set it up as 2 day shipping. which is a gripe I am getting dressed to go handle in about an hour.

Give 'em hell!!!!

I got bored so I e-mailed them instead of calling this time just to complain.

my e-mail: "I've been a customer since 2004, and I've always been satisfied with verizon's customer service, but receiving a false ship date, as well as receiving inconsistent information from several representatives is not acceptable. I find it ridiculous that I paid for the incredible well in advance only to have to wait a whole month for the device (past the promised ship date). I will be furious if I receive the phone before the end of my billing cycle (7/2) and I am charged 29.99 for the few days of using the data plan. I don't mean to come off rude but the ordering process of the Incredible has been more than frustrating."

their response: "We appreciate your continued business with us. Unfortunately the HTC Droid Incredible is backordered and in high demand so the waiting list is very long. I apologize for the different information that you've heard, but I cannot give you an accurate ship date since there is no tracking number. All I can say is that you should be receiving it within the next couple of days.

As for the 29.99 charge, it will be prorated. I apologize again for any inconvenience this has caused you but rest assured we are working hard to get everything back on track.

If you have any further questions/inquiries, feel free to send a new e-mail.

Thank you,
Willie"

Add on top of that they charge your credit card immediately, and don't allow cancellations, i.e. they get to hold on to your money until they finally ship it, it gets to you, you send it back, they recieve it, then FINALLY process it. That could be two months! If they are selling say 10,000 phones a month, times 150-200 on average, that is 2 MILLION dollars, that is a nice chunk of interest on phones they haven't delivered.

Smile - at this rate you'll make member before your phone even ships. (tryin to make you smile here)

Thanks.....funny thing is that I logged into my account online and I keep getting the annoying message that "you are eligible for an upgrade"....so I click on it just for fun and you will not believe what it says when I do....

Our records indicate you recently purchased a device for this line of service but have not activated it yet. You have the option to proceed with your online equipment order after you have activated your new device, or you may contact Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 for further assistance.

lol....of course I have not activated it yet...lol....gimme a break!

From what I've read/heard, they're selling well over 160,000 a month. HTC that is...

I just got off the phone with a Rep and she said they are 5 days behind schedule on the ship dates. She tried to grab me a tracking number just in case they had some extras but they didn't. I'm going to call back in an hour and raise holy hell with them.

edit: I'm a 6/2....was supposed to ship yesterday, now possibly shipping monday 6/28

She said they have been flooded with orders, but that shouldn't matter because we ordered before they got swamped.......

I ordered my phone on 6/13, promised a shipping date of 7/3. When I called on Monday that had been pushed back to 7/12.

I called Verizon today to see if I could cancel my Incredible order and put in an order for a Droid X, they told me there is "no way to cancel it once it has been processed," but that I could bring in the incredible within the first 30 days and swap it for a Droid X for a restocking fee.

I am trying to get them to explain how the mail in rebate should work in such a situation, do I mail in the rebate for the Incredible and then they give me the Droid X in a straight swap, or will I get refunded the Incredible price, purchase an X and then do the rebate on that? No one over there seems to know.

Also, I tried to get them to allow me to reserve a Droid X for the 15th so that I could pick that up then in the event that my Incredible date is pushed past the 15th, but they absolutely would not budge. bastages.

Ouch the news on here is not looking good for us on hold waiting for a ship date

I have to admit things are looking pretty bleak. Looks like the 6/28 ship by date has gone right out the window. Verizon and HTC majorly dropped the ball on this one. I want restitution!!

Now some interesting info, the FTC has a rule called the Mail/Telephone Order Rule. Basically says if the seller advertises or tells you a shipping date, and is not going to meet it, it must give you notice, and give you an option to cancel your order and get a refund, or accept the delay.

Shopping by Phone or Mail

For those of you who were supposed to get it shipped already, mention this rule to CSR and I bet you get somewhere, or else you can file a complaint with FTC.

Basically while it probably won't help it get shipped sooner, regulation requires them to give you a refund, not make you wait till the phone ships and arrives and send it back. Especially good for people who have decided to jump to Droid X

Ok I got off the phone with another CS and he said, "There is nothing we can do. They haven't processed 6/2 orders yet, they are still processing 6/1 orders and have been since 6/22." I told him that was BS because from what I have read (from ya'll) 6/2 has been processed and shipped. "He said I'm sorry for the inconvenience and he said he would give me a $10 reduction in my next bill. I told him he could shove that in his *Expletive* and that was the end of the phone call.

My only concern with this is for those people who did it online - is that 'mail'? I doubt it - they probably have us on a loophole there.

I'm definitely using this on my next call.
