Decrease in battery life after less than two months?!

I bought my motion Aug 31,barely two months ago and where I was once getting about 12-15 hours, I'm now getting only 6-8 hours.

I use the stock task manager to kill apps I've used whenever I exit. I also disable data when I'm not using it. I have WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth etc all off. I keep brightness at 50 percent outdoors in sunlight, 20 percent indoors and 5-10 percent while browsing in bed before I sleep. Bloatware was frozen when I first got the phone. I don't tether, play games, or anything that would really run it down, but I do browse a lot. My data usage averags over 5gb a month.

Starting now I'll be browsing on 3g instead of 4g in an effort to conserve battery. I shouldn't HAVE to do that though.

What gives, what could be causing this? What are my options? Am I screwed in regards to the warranty (almost two months since purchase)?

go into setting data usage i think set a data limit mine is set to like 999 gb then scroll down youll see apps there click on one then scroll down to where it lets u click a box to prevent it from connecting to the net by itself ive done this and it helps maybe you can try. dont know if my steps are all right cause i dont have my phone on me right now but its something in the neighborhood

My battery average about 16 or 15 hours i dont use to get that i notice that my battery lasted 10 hours so i just waited for my phone to be around 5 or 6 percent on battery life tben i just recharge it

Hope this isn't a silly question but what does setting a data limit do? I mean, how does it work exactly?

I'm rather confused with Metro's warranty. It seems they have a one year warranty but their website makes it sound like it would cost you $10 for an exchange if they deem it a defective phone. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to ask your metro store about it. The worst that can happen is that they say no. Well, of course the way they answer you could make you very upset so that would be the worst that could happen.

Lately my phone has been lasting longer than when I first got it. However, that could be mostly due to the fact I don't use it as much now as I did then.

I'll get that battery. In the meantime, if I keep my phone on 3g rather than 4g, should I see an increase in battery life?

Rather than buy online could I buy it in a store? Who makes the LG L7 anyway?

Not sure if you can buy that battery in a store. However, I haven't looked or thought of looking really. Well, LG makes the the L7, it is called LG Optimus L7. I have not looked up which carrier has the L7.

In another thread people were getting very confused thinking it was the older Optimus M but the Opitmus M battery is not the same as the Motion but the L7 is.

I'm sorry i meant who sells the LG L7? Verizon, Sprint...?

Yeah I figured that is what you meant. From some very, very quick googling I think the L7 was first only available overseas. Currently (I think) there are two versions of the L7 in the USA.

It is offered by U.S Cellular as the LG Splendor. Boost Mobile is going to offer it as the LG Venice.

@ THE W: Quite a bit, don't know exact time.

I browsed on Evdo exclusively today rather than 4g and still got only 7 hours or so total battery life today which has become "average". So it's not the network setting that's the issue, I'm inclined to believe sammyz.

@ sammyz: so you think my battery life would improve if I just left the apps I use alone rather than stop them with the stock task manager whenever I stop using the apps?

Here's another thing I do that I thought I would ask about.

Every few days I go through my apps and clear the caches. Could this have an unintended adverse effect?

I never do that so maybe it does have an impact. Maybe go a week without doing that and see if it helps or not.

Yes, but you may have also started killing the battery as well with what you have done.
I wouldn't clear cache either. That's like the same as closing apps all day.

1: you have a defective battery
2: you downloaded some app that is running in the background. Go to Settings > power saver > Batter use > and check which apps are using your battery.

Also, using task killers can be worse on your phone because if you have an app that is designed to always run in the background (see point#2 above), by killing it, you're triggering it to be opened again and that uses more resources because you need to making the phone reopen all of the particulars of the app again.
