**DELAYED**Thunderbolt Firmware Upgrade (DELAYED ON MAY 4th))

No push update yet.

A question- does anyone know if I will lose root if I do this update? I'm on stock ROM, but rooted.
More than likely yes you will lose root. THere are roms that has this update and also in a thread there is the update for root users also.

i imagine it'll start rolling out within the next 2 weeks. can't wait. i doubt that battery life will get better for those who turned their 4g off. also, i would think a proximity battery drain issue would only effect the battery life while making a call. or maybe the features such as "make louder when in pocket/bag, flip phone over, things like that.

I just spoke with an Technical Support Operations Manager at VZW and apparently, the update will go out starting tomorrow; 5/3/11.

I figured instead of hitting the damned refresh button every two hours, I'd just call VZW's technical support and find out when the release could possibly be received on my phone.

I won't comment on the context of the entire conversation, but eventually, I spoke to the Manager and he explained there was a short delay in the release. :D

Does the 4G radio need to be on in order to receive the update?

Would say 100% no. Big chunk of peopel don't live in 4G areas so I dont' think Verizon would be dumb enough to require customers to transport themselves to a 4G area to receive updates lol.

You are wrong. It makes a huge difference. End of story.

no, it probably won't. the real battery saver in the update is the transition between 3g/4g. so for people that already eliminated that problem by turning 4g off, won't benefit from refined switch. end of story............................dick.

it will be pushed. you can check the check now less since that only will show up if you've gotten the message and accidentally declined it.

nothing in Denver. I got the TB the morning of it's launch. Wish they'd send it out in chronological order..........

Calm down, he was actually correct... The biggest battery drain on the TB before this updated RUU was not the transition between 3g and 4g. It was an error in the proximity sensor that was causing battery drain.

That has been fixed in this update, so even those that have 4G off will see battery life benifits. Now can we stop with the name calling?

Now the question is will the battery save be enough to warrant turning 4G back on? It doesn't matter that much though. I keep mine off and turn it on when I'm installing things, streaming videos or music, or doing video calls. It works pretty well that way and isn't much of a hassle.

Well put brother...

I'm not getting any notification and when I go to update my system software, it says that there's no new updates found.

Any guesses?

baseband and build numbers are identical to the leak, doesn't always mean they are the same, but more than likely the OTA and the leak are identical.

THey send the OTA in stages. SO you could get it anytime of now or a few days from now.
