Root DETAILED Leak Root Tutorial

Yes, I go into my downloads folder, go into the sdk folder, open tools, then press shift and right click and click open command prompt window here.

I type in runindos.bat and it now is giving me the same error as before....multiple failures, then says it worked, then more failures, etc with nothing happening on my phone.

What am I doing wrong? I placed the hack.zip file in the tools folder and I placed the khaosfroyo in the root of my sd card. Any suggestions?

I think that you are probably doing this, but just in case. I saw that you listed: C:\Users\****\Downloads\android-skd_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools>"runindos.bat".

Make sure that you end the line like this: \tools\runindos.bat
 
I feel like a dumbass.. I keep telling people make sure to do NAND backups before flashing a new ROM and guess what I get to do? Set up my phone again. yay

I've done it. Or I have done the Nand backup, but didn't go to label it, so I have no idea which ROM is which.
 
Can't thank you guys enough. Rooting was the best thing I ever did. I was about to throw this phone in the pool and this saved it's life. Running KaosFroyo and it is a different phone. Thanks again for all your help
 
I installed Kaos Froyo...so far its in boot mode I gues with the multi color lighting effect...and it keeps restarting the color version then turning to blue...goes for a bit, then restarts with color, etc...

Am I in an endless boot now? or should it take a while?

If you sit at the boot animation screen for more than 7 minutes, then you are probably in a boot loop. If so, try going back into Recovery and make sure that you have wiped both the Factory Data and Dalvik Cache.
 
I am using superuser 2.2...I wonder if that has anything to do with froyo, or anything for that matter wanting to load right now.

I thought I read somewhere some ppl were flashing back to superuser 2.1

I've not seen the pros and cons of either. I just load a ROM that I like and it works. The only time that I got a boot loop was once when going between White Widow and Aloysius. That required me to go wipe the ext partition and all was well.

I am using SU 2.1 because 2.2 was not working for me, this might solve your problem

I cannot stress enough the importance of doing a full wipe when installing a new rom.
 
cool...wiping the data helped. now I have froyo...got setcpu installed, all the syncing makes thephone slow though.

going to mess with it the rest of the night. sweet.
 
so if they come out with version 24 (kaosfroyo) and it fixes the camera..will I have to wipe all my data for that too, or will it just update my existing theme (23)?

From what i've read it depends.
Some updates seem to be you flash the update without wiping, but others seem to be wipe and then flash.
It'll depend on what the developer does to the rom.
 
Ok, so kaosfroyo was giving me issues (v23), so I wiped, then flashed to evileris 3.0, and then wiped again.

So my question is...do I "lose" root when wiping? Because EvilEris comes with superuser apparently...but even after installing a terminal and typing 'su', I get some weird msg:

"reloc_library[1244]: 2343 cannot locate '_ZENK7Android6Parcel..... CANNOT LINK EXECUTABLE

But I was getting superuser to work just fine on kaosfroyo. I do have superuser2.2 on my sdcard.

any clue?

can you get apps like setCPU or root explorer to work?
