Root DETAILED Leak Root Tutorial

My minimum is 480. I created a profile for "screen off" so when my screen is off the cpu is set at 245/122.

That's not a bad idea. I have my min at 528, which is what the CPU is listed as in the Eris. I did set up a profile for screen off, to give the cpu time to cool down.

There is a huge difference in this phone at 787 from where I was with 2.1. Web pages load considerably faster. I may not buy an Incredible afterall.

That sounds good man!

Actually downloading setCPU now. I did some research on my own. Any idea what the highest safe clock speed is?

To piggyback on what Surgeon is saying. I usually just start off at 710. If using SetCPU, DONT check the Set on Boot option until you have a setting that is stable. So, if the phone freezes, reboot and drop down to the step that worked. Note that a frequency may seem to work, but then you experience a lock up after using it for a while. That's why it's important not to set on boot until you know for sure that your chosen frequency is stable. For me, I can't go above 768.

So I followed all the instructions to a "T" and tried to flash Aloysius on my eris. Everything worked properly but my phone is stuck on the "HTC quietly brilliant" screen and just goes black then back to the screen.

I've tried wiping and loading the rom again, and I've tried wiping and not loading a rom at all. Still get stuck on the screen. Help?

I would try loading a different ROM. Or, try re-downloading the Aloysius rom again to make sure the file isn't corrupt.

Great points. I don't have it at set on boot yet, I'm going to try out 787 and see how the phone works. I want a consistent clock speed.

Also make sure you didnt just download a flashable update, make sure it is a large file (like 70 mb or more)

Did you download the rom from here? HTC Droid Eris ROM Site The updates on the thread are only flashable updates so you need to flash one of these first. DOWNLOAD Aloysius2.0v12.zip

Alright, I think I finally figured out what the problem is an why i an stuck at the part where you plug in the phone and type adb devices. My charging cable is horribly frayed at the end that plugs into the phone. So much so that i see the red green and white wires. On 2 occasions(out of like 50 tries) only have i plugged the phone into a comp hand have it say new hardware found installing drivers, adj etc. When i tried it just now it occured to me what the problem is. Short of waiting weeks to have the money to het a new data cable, can anyone advise a fixi n the mean time?

If you happen to have a USB to mini USB cable laying around it's the same thing and works just fine.

I'm having problems getting the SDK set up on my computer (pretty much stuck on step one). I download the Android SDK and it gives me an error saying that I have to manually download something via http rather than https. Any ideas?

I am using Windows 7 64 bit and I was using WIFI.

You will probably need to click Settings and check the box to force HTTP instead of HTTPS.

C:\Users\****\Downloads\android-skd_r06-windows\android-sdk-windows\tools>"runindos.bat" is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.

What am I doing wrong? I placed the hack.zip file in the tools folder and I placed the khaosfroyo in the root of my sd card. Any suggestions?

I did, I just realized that thanks to microsoft's security bs, I couldn't do it without running as an administrator.

So I opened a fresh command window and changed directories to where everything was downloaded. But now when I tried it it displayed multiple errors at once. The first lines start 'adb' is not recognized as....... about 6 times in a row then it displays "Files copied and permissions set, rebooting HTC Android 2.1. Your phone will reboot into normal mode then into recovery mode. If it doesn't reboot the second time, wait 10 minutes and manually do it.

Then it displays the 'adb' is not recognized as error 2 more times in a row then displays "Your phone is now rebotting into rooted recovery mode, do a backup and load your roms. Then displays the 'adb' error 2 more times.

The only problem is that nothing has happened on my phone the whole time. I have it plugged in with USB debugging mode turned on (I tested it as the instructions suggested and it worked).

Any other suggestions?

BTW big thanks to all of those helping me :)

^ It's not recognizing the adb command. Are you running the command from the tools directory of the sdk? It doesn't sound like you are.

Well I can't seem to get anything to work now. I downloaded the sdk and downloaded all of the add-ins, downloaded htc sync, downloaded the hack and placed it in the tools folder of the sdk which was unzipped in my downloads folder (i'm assuming thats where it is installed to because I cannot find any sdk files in my program files area). I open a command window while in the sdk directory, do the adb devices test and it works. But when I try to type runindos.bat....it doesn't work.

My phone is attached to my computer in charge mode only with USB debug mode on.

Can anyone see something that I missed?

Did you run SDKSetup.exe? its in the sdk folder

Yup, ran that. First a command prompt window opens up, then the SDK program pops up and asks what packages I want to install. And to be safe....I installed all of them.
