Root [DEV][Recovery] Clockworkmod Recovery

I am glad to see you are willing to help us with the Venice Chev!!! Love your work with the Ultra. Have you moved to the Venice or just helping us out?
 
So did the file get to PlayfulGod? Or is this a dead project? I did read that this phone is locked by LG just like HTC locks their phones.

Glad to hear you are better, the flu bugs are killing people this year. Maybe I could get Chev to help me get these files for ya if likecookies doesn't get them nailed down for ya. Working tomorrow so I will try to catch him asap.

If I may just chime in here..

I don't know if you have seen the XDA thread regarding the international P700 (Optimus L7), except for it being GSM, I'm sure this thread can assist you in your porting needs.

I'm contemplating getting rid of my TU for this device because the Warp Sequent looks too buggy and I'd like to eventually see CM10 on this one, however I don't know how well the Snapdragon S1 will hold up seeing as how every other phone (including the TU and RUSH) has a better processor (S2)

in that thread it says they got the recovery by dumping 17

I'm not sure all partitions are the same, but maybe that helps?
 
I would love to see CM10 for this phone. I just flashed 10.1 to my Uncle's Infuse the other day and it's just BAD!!! Ran great, looks nice and the options to tweak it to your liking... I Love it!!!

I was also wondering how hard it would be to port stuff from the other phones like this, there is a lot of support for them. There is the LG Black for Sprint, can't think of the carrier and what they call the other phone off the top of my head but I watched a video about them. I think it is the LG7 on Simple mobile you are talking about? Wouldn't the Black from Sprint and Venice from Boost be compatible like the Transform Ultra for Sprint and Boost are? Same roms work on both phones.

The other phones are the exact same phones as the Venice, but on other networks. The link I sent is a way to put CWM on those phones. Thought it might help with us. Could you look it over?

I scanned over it, what they are doing is injecting cwm into a cab and installing it with that tool, which should be completely unnecessary to install cwm. ;)

btw what is the model # for the venice and codename if ya know it?? If someone could post up the build.prop I can get it from it.
 
k and we now have the stock recovery.img. Will see what I can do.

Is there a way to restore this device in case bad things happen?? On most LG's with ICS I have dealt with they have a locked bootloader and signed boot and recovery partitions. If the venice is the same the cwm I build wont boot and you will get a error about signature failure and it will not boot to the os so you can use adb etc.

If there is a kdz or cab that can be flashed, that will be a good fail safe.

I had the link to check n see if lg has a cab file for a device, will have to dig it up or track it down again. But we need a way to restore b4 we can do any testing. Rarely do we get it right the first time and if the bootloader is locked it just makes it worse.
 
Yeah I read somewhere it is locked. I noticed in an xda forum that there is a universal program for the kdz I will check again. Need to make sure we have the correct version to make it work, but it worked for the Black and L7 and other LG devices as the post said.

I do believe these have download mode, think I put my last one in download mode for something. I mean the triangle Odin type download mode. Other than that all we have is factory restore.

Check this tool also for extracting firmware from LG phones, they are using it on the LG Optimus Black which is the same phone as the Venice but for Sprint, or is it? I am not positive. will research more when I get a chance.

Yes. I saw a picture of the Optimus Black last night and I think it's a different phone, doesn't look the same like the LG Optimus L7 does. It's identical to the Venice. I need to do more research on it. I watched a video somewhere and the showed 2 phones that were the same phone as the Venice, I could have been wrong about the Black. I will let you know more asap.
 
Ok, I found it! I made a mistake somehow. It's the LG Splendor from US Cellular and the LG Optimus L7 that are the same phones as the LG Venice, not the LG Black.

yea I was thinking the Black was a msm8660 device. The venice looks to be almost like the esteem/revo too, just a slightly less camera n more ram. And well diff board, esteem is bryce.
 
From what I saw there is no support for the Splendor here or anyone interested. The L7 however I think there is a Rom for it already. Gonna get on my PC and check it out.

Found FreeGee bootloader unlocker for the LG Optimus G, think it could be modified to work for us?
Also found something called recoverx need unlocked for it to work though. Installs CWM for multiple makes and models of phones.
