Yeah I did nothing out of the norm. Had no problems or errors or anything. I thought it was just a fluke but I rebooted and checked my other root programs and it was the same thing. BUT Commander was still showing Root OK so it could have been a fluke. Idk. We're back to normal so it's all good.

It was probably just a fluke. I lost root on the Ascend by just rebooting and I was running CM7. Random crap like that does happen Ahaha
 
So i tried to install the pre-alpha and it failed on my phone and now ive spent an hour trying to find the part of this thread where it talks about what to do if it fails installation... or at least i think i remember reading something like that. lol. I may have just skimmed over it but does anyone recall what page its on??? thx.

After watching this post for awhile and seeing the results I went ahead and flashed the pre-alpha. And it is way nicer than what I expected. The launcher is a bit laggy but it is expected in its current state. the settings menu is fairly smooth though and I love its new setup. I have never used cm on any of my other devices but it really looks great. As much as (I'm sure everyone) wants this done. I'll patiently wait for its completion. As always, PG, you do some really great work.
 
Hey ya guys, I just wanted to state, I am never going to switch providers, I am on my 3rd replacement esteem, a few days ago I had took my gfs sIII to work and my esteem lasted way longer then her Samsung did, I was going to get the S3 with Sprint, but I got my self the Nexus 7, first thing I did was rooted and put CWM touch on it and the new CM10 alpha, Its smooth and all but I its not the esteem, I am happy to say I love my phone and With the daily rom flashes I am still happy, no problems since zvb.
 
I like cheese. Been eating it for years. No problems since it was updated from milk.
Little off the subject, but true nonetheless.
 
Yup it is i got a bootable cm9 ama test it agianin a minute lol Well a bootable That means u could play with it for a bit not Beta But yea pre-alpha :)

Alright, not everyone is familiar/comfortable with how forum software works. It can be very hard/daunting to find a given single post in a thread with 1700 replies.

Laughing at people is demeaning, period. A simple "the link is a couple posts up" is fine, no need for extra commentary. A 'smart/snarky' comment isn't cool, even if you put a ;) in it.

Got it? I surely hope so.

ok time for me to sound like a ****. lol

but i installed the pre-alpha cause it said the RIL was working. I got the assert failed and fixed that.
wiped cache and devlak both from cmw

it installs and boot ups but it still says no service and the radio is off. did i break and/or do something wrong and/or read something wrong?

pg stated in the first post cm9 is booting up and what not but its not working 100% now u see whats not working. trust me if cm9 was working stable no1 would be on gingerbread anymore for the esteem.
if u took your time to read you would of seen this above the link......

What works?

boots to lockscreen
Hard & Soft buttons (soft buttons are slow n laggy to respond)
once past the lockscreen by pressing the HOME soft button it gets to the home screen.
search and settings can be opened with soft keys.

If you reboot n get stuck in a bootloop, reboot to CWM n wipe dalvik cache.

RIL working now.

Am not sure if mine Boots out of lockscreen like unlock idk cuz i had a pin in my previous rom and i couldnt type any numbers on cm9 do u still Want Me to share By the way it shouldnt give u an error If u Flash it i fixed the asserts Status 7 thing

thanks for the info. i thought if the RIL was working then it would have something like wifi or even just calling service kinda working.
