Root Developer's Team

Well i have the devour stock .img file. But I have no way of looking at its contents. I KNOW we will have to get this file unpacked asap

I think there is a possible solution,
almost whole last year the drevour's
official update status was "testing 2.1"(or something like that)
so maybe we should write a petition to motorola and ask for
that test firmware for us.

Are you kidding? The Devour has been listed as remaining on Android 1.6 since late 2010. That's why we have to take things into our own hands. As to the Droid X's bootloader, it's similar, but by no means the same.

up until late August, the phone had been listed as "under evaluation" for the Android 2.1 upgrade.

and one more... at first we need to install alternative bootloader?
I emailed to the author of ClokworkMod.. but get no reply
and can't find anything about SBR in google

I wish I knew. There was a short burst of activity in this forum then everything died. :( It's really too bad, I was hoping something would happen.

Okay so what needs to be done?

First and foremost, unlocking and accessing the bootloader should be top priority, am I right? No way we're going to get anything done before doing that.

Then we'll need to develop/modify a ROM to put on the thing, and one that will work. I'd be particularly interested in the latest CyanoGen. If we did that, we could post our results back onto the CyanoGen website and hopefully it would turn into a full supported port.

EDIT: No I was wrong, the bootloader is accessible, but hell if I know how to do anything with it. http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-693669.html

come on...
we should do something togehter
I can't believe, that in this forum there are no android programmers,
we will get no update, if we will not try to make it

I hope someone keeps working on this so the devour can have a custom ROM and kernel to force an upgrade to 2.1-2.3.

I'll help in anyway possible.

Ok ! the Droid X (which has the same recovery as us{which is locked}) Now has a custom recovery ! its this APK, Yah a apk look how easy it is, So easy a cave man can do it.
My Brain Hurts: Droid X Recovery
Is there any way possible to make this work with the devour Since same recovery and since they also have the same way to root maybe they also have the same way to bybass the recovery?

will this possibly be any help?

Back from self imposed exile! My ECON class is done this upcoming weekend at which point I'll have ten weeks of "free" time at which I should be able to give this project a try.

We do need everyone to go into the internet and hunt down the SBF files and other basic tools. A lot of the links on the Devour Threads have expired, and without those files it'd be hard to get moving.

ps: I merged several threads that had parallel efforts or conversations into this particular thread. Redirects will expire in about a month but I figure by then people should know to come here to share knowledge, progress, or provide suggestions.

Thanks Yinz! :)

all of the files that were made for the droid X?
because there isn't anything for the devour that i know of.

post the list of files, that you need, I'll try to find them, and upload somwhere

and one more question... some guy on xda said, he launched smokedglass 6 on devour.. was it trolling, or not?

from what i've found [or couldn't find] sounds like it was jsut a troll because there is no back up of it or instructions.

Back to Square One.

it seems that no one is working on this phone because verizon and motorola have both come out with something bigger and better which the devs are drawn too even more because the group that supports that specific phone is bigger.

why not check on the Droid X and see if it's possible to use any of those files and change something?

i'm not sure what to change, but it might be a lot easier than going from scratch, because i don't have an extra computer that uses Linux at all.

or someone can get a hold of a dev and see what they can do if it's possible.

i know twitter has devs that are on there, but i don't know how easily it is to contact them at all.
