'Dillo Hills [Development]

This game is real choppy on my Droid X (Rooted, Apex 1.4.1) up until the second zone. After I'm finished with the first zone, the game runs as smooth as silk. Also, I'd like to add that the ad on the LITE version is poorly placed. I don't know if much could be done about that, but I'm just throwing it out there.

Other than those imperfections that are easily looked past, I'd have to say this is an awesome game that I could see blowing up really fast with a few tweaks.

Great Job, Fex. :)

Purchased. The game is swell and runs great on Desire HD.
A few things though.
Unlockables make games funnier.
Different game modes could be nice. Endless mode and story mode maybe? Characters could have different stories, the sillier the better.
Hills could look more round. They are a tad edgy now.

But thanks for a great game! Will let people in Sweden know about it tomorrow.

Great music as well. :-)

ok next review:

Droid X Android: 2.2.1
Air Version: 2.6.0.1912

Just tried on this phone and experienced the same ammount of lagginess right from the get go. Upon opening the app it showed the "happiness" bar (lol i think it should have been energy over happiness, oh well lots of people saying this and that about that ;) ) and the score just like on Droid 1 testing. The "play" option lagged that it took about 8 presses for the game to start. when loaded actual game it had the bubbles of instructions but when tapped it wouldnt do anything. music ran fine. out of no where it jumped through the bubbled instructions and launched my dillo and kept diving him when finger wasnt on the screen (lagg from presses when wasnt going through bubbles imo). immediately closed and started on medium setting. It was a little better but the dillo didnt dive or glide when i tapped, there was slight lag to that. so once again I closed and started up on low setting and this one actually worked where I could play and went to island 6 or 7, 100000+ score.

So basically one of the newer more powerful phones out has to play this on low settings? ;)

Side note, zone 1 still the laggiest zone by far no matter which phone or setting play at.

anyone get it yet on the LG Optimus V? i keep searching dillo and dillo hills but STILL the orange is still coming up only!

Fex, choppy on evo. and the gameplay needs heavy tweaking. Its all great except a couple things about the physics:

1. the fact that the characters jump forward is annoying cause you just get stuck jumping from hill top to hill top.

2. Tapping the bottom half of the screen to make him fall.. doesnt seem to have that dramatic of an effect. Sometimes I wonder if it does anything at all. (mainly because of the delay, it needs to respond quicker)

3. I understand you were looking for faster paced gameplay.. but if the character is moving realllllllly fast, and not up and down that much. Then the hills need to be sloped more. Heres a crudely made illustration

how on earth did you get it on the vibrant? i can't even get adobe air on it and also running 2.2

I don't know. I guess I'm lucky. I installed Dillo Hills before I had Air, it redirected me to Air on the market and told me to download that first. I just searched "dillo hills" and it came up.

On a different note. I was playing on the lite version and just upgraded to the full, the full version runs much smoother than the lite. Possibly because of no ads making your phone work harder?

I definitely think the sunset-background effect has something to do with the lag. All of the zones with the pinkish-orange skies (1,4,5,etc.) seem to be a heck of a lot more choppy than the daytime-looking zones.

Wow this game was a huge buzzkill. I am not flaming at all but the game is nothing compared to tiny wings. The game is WAY too fast paced, the graphics are extremely grainy and pixelated and it lags. I tested it on both a Droid X and a Droid 2. All that waiting had me thinking this was going to crush Tiny Wings but it has a long way to go.

Well if that theory is try wouldnt running your phone on airplane mode do the same effect since it takes away the ads? I tested this since I have the LITE version and still experienced the same amount of lag.

Largely unresponsive and laggy on my Droid 1. Also, the game doesn't fill the entire screen (that might be an issue with AIR though). Hoping for an update.

Having fun playing it so far, works great on low graphics quality on my Epic (crashed on high quality, haven't tried medium yet).

Am I missing a way to turn music and sound off, other than lowering my phone's media volume? The only thing I see in settings is graphics quality.

Runs very smoothly at all graphics settings on my Incredible. As already mentioned, game controls seem almost unresponsive and movement is way too fast paced.

Absolutely! Continuing to optimize this game is at the top of my list, and I'm hoping to get at least one update out tonight. :)

Fex, I think when the bottom of the screen is clicked, the character needs to shoot down quicker, also, do you want to hold down the whole time the character is on the ground or just on the down slopes?

Congrats on the release, Fex. I just HAD to buy it to see what all the fuss was about.... my face is now sore from the non-stop grinning! I've run through Zone 1 with all 4 toons and it's butter-smooth on my Desire Z (CM7 @ 1.07GHz, graphics set to HIGH).

I think the game in general just has to be optimized. I have played games with much more intense graphics that ran very smoothly. Even things like clicking on options seem laggy. This is on a Droid X, which isn't the top of the line now but its still pretty high up there. Even when I press the home button to get out of the game it takes 5 or 6 seconds.

Great idea Fex but fell short. I love the concept of the game but needs much work. Very laggy, not responsive enough(especialy on dives), doesn't fly it shoots, jagged graphics, no goals. I bought this so should have to see credits on open. Thank you much, but disappointing after comparing to Tiny Birds. Droid X.
