'Dillo Hills [Development]

With all the testing that was going on for the betas fex, what phones worked for this and how many of those phones did you test on? EX: 5 Droid X, 4 Droid 1, 8 Droid 2, 2 Thunderbolts, etc etc.

your phone has an ARMv6 processor. adobe AIR requires an ARMv7 processor. so you're out of luck.

aww man! that is just heartbreaking news. :( hopefully in the next couple weeks though fex and his great team might be able to make some updates so that dillo hills wouldn't require adobe AIR.

Dude it works fine on HTC hd2 running gingerbread, you need adobe air and yo may have to move the app to your phone or your SD card and then it should play. Its working on mine right now.

Played some more despite the lag on all settings low, medium, and high graphics. Still same issues as replied before, even after update. I'm sure your working on it Fex. Only a couple other suggestions, maybe like Tiny Wings there should be some sort of fever. Maybe fire! Definetly needs goals! But keep up the good work. We need more android developers like you! Thanks for all the hard work!

HTC Desire, with custom ROM, 2300 points in quadrant benchmark (400 in graphics):

Have to play it in low to feel good!

The screen don't stay ON and when it get off the game restarts and lose your progresS!

And a teleport happend in the second island returning back 1 hill!

Didn't realize this wasn't going to run on my Nexus One...bummed I am. :( It will be one of the first games I download when I decide which phone to buy off contract though!

@ everyone who is complaining about the choppiness and the physics (like the chazracter not going down fast enough on screen press) ------ its because you are trying to play on high graphics. Turn your graphics down to medium or low and you will be just fine. I have a captivate, fairly new phone, should be able to run the game on high, and it can not at all, only on medium and ideally on low. Stop spamming the thread with this useless complaining.

@ Fex ----- I've got a captivate running the newest Cyanogen Mod 7. My CM7 is compiled by guys who just now joined the CM team though, its technically a port at the moment, so some of my issues may be due to that.

Artwork: A+ --- I think it is very unique and an well done.

Gameplay: B --- you hit it on the head, some slight tweaking and it will be excellent. You need to fix the graphics options though, no one can play on high, and most Americans will try and play this on high, because we are arrogant and think that our phones are as good as we are. I recommend you either streamline the code (I'm assuming its just slop causing the lag) or take high mode out altogether, otherwise the sales will suffer. I am sure you can fix it though as I can play 3D games on my phone with no trouble.

Physics: B --- As others have said, they just need cleaned up a little. For the most part they are square, I do think that the animal should drop down a little more quickly, its slightly hard to tell, but after about 10 minutes playing I got the hang of it. The 4th zone is a bitch though lol.

Rules/Scoring: B --- My main issue with tiny wings was not knowing what anything meant scorewise. I figured it out but after a long while. Maybe have a one page thing with the different symbols and such and a quick one sentence saying what they mean. Like at the moment I am not sure how the score multiplier works exactly. At least I think its a score multiplier.

Overall: B+ --- it needs polishing. You need to optimize the graphics code, I have no idea how graphics work in mobile technology, but I know its different than desktop graphics where its the engine being coded sloppy that causes a lot of lag. Doing that would also fix the input lag. I would change the happiness meter as well, the game ends to fast right now, I make it to the 5th island with a full meter and I miss one jump and lose the entire meter trying to get going again. I really like the gliding addition (I dont know if it goes for all characters or just the squirrel, the squirrel is the coolest though lol).

Oh, CHANGE THE NAME IN THE MARKET TO "DILLO HILLS" because people are not going to remember to put an apostrophe in before the "D". You will get a lot more hits that way.

Droid 1 2.2
Adobe Air: up2date

after the update...still a 2 second lag for "diving/gliding" on lowest setting.

Runs very smoothly at all graphics settings on my Incredible. As already mentioned, game controls seem almost unresponsive and movement is way too fast paced.

i think that means your phone cant run it very well.
Mine runs fine and perfectly paced and responsive at low settings but at high settings its fast and the settings take a minute to respond.

i think its part of the coding to make up for frame loss or something (i could be totally wrong) but it affects the gameplay.

i use the new galaxy s 4G, which is a pretty good phone and should be able to crush this game at high settings. maybe Fex needs to do a little more performance optimization.

also the option to turn music/sound effects on and off should be in the options.

Thank you for joining the thread and making your first post. I hope that you went back and read some of the other posts of these "complaints" or helpful suggestions of problems to the developer since we are here to test the game and let the developer know whats wrong and what might need tweaking. A lot of people have posted that they have put the graphics on a lower setting if not the lowest and it is still laggy. Even on the Droid X which is still a very powerful phone and not that old.

Thanks for being sarcastic. 99% of the posts here talk about how unresponsive it is. On high settings it runs perfectly fine for me, except it takes about 3 seconds to recognize any input on my part.

Comments like, "its slow" or," I GOTZ LAGZ ON MAH AWESOME PHONESZZ" don't do anything for the developer. Try and be a little more in depth and helpful. The guy will fix the issues, but "its slow" tells him nothing. I was obviously not directing my post at people who are trying to help the developer, it was directed more at the folks who say things like, "I look forward to fex's financial ruin", "this game was a huge buzzkill", and of course the ones in the beginning of this paragraph. I apologize if it seemed like I was singling you out or directing the comment at everyone, but that is not the case. It is a little laggy on the captivate which is in the same league as the droid X and the same age.

no wasnt sarcastic, we actually have alot of newbies that have joined the forums and come straight to here to post. my droid is running 2.2.1, wonder why it says i cant update if you have 2.3.3.

Fex, also curious if the difficulty of the game gets harder after each time you play it? I know my droid x gets some lag on the lowest setting but i was still able to get to over 140,000, but the next time I got 40,000 and after that I barely went to 10,000. Seems like it was getting harder to play to where I barely passed the first zone.

Fex,

Great job on the game, pretty good for a first release and being written on AIR. The game seems the run better on higher settings with the new update (1.03) but the pace of the game seems way faster before. I don't know if you were aware of this so just wanted to give some feedback.

HAHAHAHA thank you Motorola Atrix, Game runs smooth as butter on full graphics and is totally awesome thank you so much fex, time to rub it in all the iphone users at my school faces tomorrow.

I'm gonna guess your phone is the droid incredible by your user name? My Droid X after the update hasnt changed. still playable on low setting, but other 2 are not. Droid 1, no dice on any setting.

Ok, so I tried out the new update and it seems to be running better on my Droid X on medium graphics. Haven't tested it on High or Low. Still kinda choppy, especially at the end of the levels. I rated you a 5 because I think the game is great for the price and I know that you are excited about this and will continue to optimize it.

Couple thoughts:

- Almost seems too easy to progress sometimes. I think that when you fail hardcore on a jump, you should have to have a couple good jumps to really get back into things. Instead you go down a single hill and pop off like nothing ever slowed you down.

During the loading level times when he is flying through the air. Maybe a different animation (like out of control flailing) or a hang glider or something would be fun and different. This is obviously not really an issue. It just occurred to me that it almost seems like he is flying at that point and it kinda throws me off.
