Help DInc will not boot, boot menu frozen

I was using my phone the other day and it was working fine, then it started acting all weird and locked up. I powered it down and when I turned it back on I got the skateboarding droids screen (fastboot). For some reason when I press the vol up or down it won't scroll through the fastboot options, also the power button will not select the highlighted 1st option it's stuck on (bootloader). The only thing that it will do is bring up the Hboot menu if I hold the vol down and power button, but again for some reason it won't let me scroll through the options with the vol up/down. Also, if on Hboot I plug in USB it comes up with the Hboot USB, but i'm not sure what I can do with that.. I have the HTC bootloader driver installed on my computer, but I don't know how to or find an original factory ROM to reload the android OS.

The phone was stock, never rooted. So i'm not sure what to do from here. I took it to verizon and they said it was bad, but the rep did nothing but power it on and off. So I don't think they did anything at all really. I just got the "well you can buy another one". Unfortunately my warranty conveniently ran out a few weeks ago (12mo). I don't think it's bricked as it will power on, and I can bring up the Hboot menu, but the not being able to scroll the options with the vol up/down is throwing me off big time.

Any help is appreciated!!

That's odd. I'm going to assume you tried a battery pull already. First thing I'd try powering up the phone without an SD card installed just for kicks. If that fails, you can try realoading the stock image but you need volume up to accept it while in hboot. Maybe it'll work in that event though. Here's the instructs which you'll have to modify slightly since you cant use your phone as a disk drive of course. You'll need a usb card reader or laptop with a card reader, etc and a micro to SD adapter to get the necessary file on the card.

yes, I tried a battery pull (many many times) and it keeps bringing up the same screen. I tried booting with out the sd card and the fastboot screen still comes up with no ability to select the different options. I have a computer with an sd reader and a micro sd adaptor that came with a micro sd card I bought awhile back. I don't see the instructions your referring to though. Also, where do I get the stock image to reload android OS to my phone?

Thanks!

I am having the same problem with mine. pushing the power button loads to fastboot screen, pushing power and down volume brings up hboot screen. But frozen once I get there. It happened the other day, but after a couple of battery pulls and waiting a little while with it on, it unfroze, and I was able to use down and up volume buttons to select reboot. I am stock and unrooted. Today it happened again, after I did a factory reset, got the phone activated, all my accounts updated, and was setting up my layouts, when I restarted due to my apps not installing once they were downloaded. When it came back up it was on the boot screen again, and locked up again.

So I attempted to reload the stock image. Was successful, but after restarting, it does the same thing. Searched other forums on the net, and found a couple references to the problem being a stuck/malfunctioning optical pad button. Tried playing with the button last night, but looks like I am going to have to take the phone apart and mess with it that way.
