Root Dirrk's D01 overclocking kernels with lagfix

You did the voodoo one? I had my SF rooted with jt's kernal but the phone would randomly freeze and wouldn't come back on until a battery pull. I can't have this so i un-rooted and am waiting to see if something more stable comes out.. Dirks looks promising but i'm nervous now lol. hows it running?
 
It runs fine for me and many others, but it just varies with every individual phone. Maybe you're not one of the lucky ones. Only way to find out is to try different ones. I can tell you there will never be any guarantees when you're hacking your phone using freeware downloaded from internet forums :)

I noticed a significant increase in performance. The one I tried is Dirrk's LV1200, and I haven't needed to switch. saps tried them all.

I didn't notice any gains in performance until I OC'd with SetCPU. Then I noticed quite a nice gain, indeed. At performance settings I got 2061 in quadrant.

Which kernel? The two guys released several pre voodoo kernels and then several with voodoo in it.

I got the pre-voodoo 1.2 kernal from jt. I just got home from work and this one is getting plenty of rave reviews so i think i'm going to attempt this one... Should I go with jts or dirks? Whats the difference between them?

Yeah I used jt's 1200 pre voodoo too it was best however I've settled on Dirrks 1200LV myself but its kinda a what your phone can handle situation. jt's actually uses higher voltage which in theory would be more stable but for some reason I get Quadrant locks on his. The voltage difference is:
1200LV 1250mv
1200SV 1300mv
jt1200 1325mv

So you're using the voodoo with Dirrks 1200LV? Since my SF wasn't responding well to jt's pre voodoo maybe our SF's are alike:). I'm going to take that as a sign and go with dirrks. Are you using the one with animations? D02 1200 LV?
 
I have D02 1200 LV and it has no boot animation, just a black screen with the samsung/verizon music playing. Not really sure what's up but I don't care much.

Saps, which one are you running? I'd like the animation but it seems nosquid isnt getting it... ?

EDIT** Unrooted, recovered back to normal completely, then re-rooted. Still havent picked a kernal, but my wireless tether isn't working properly... It'll turn on like normal, but won't have any data tranfer at the bottom, goes only as high as .6 outbound and .2 inbound. an't even find it when searching for it on my computer or other phones. What gives?

I also cannot get anything but a black screen with stock boot sound even though I have tried everything to change it, including the adb push method.

I downloaded boot animation pro and was able to change it up. it's pretty cool. im using deception currently
 
Just switched over to the 1000LV, dunno why but seems more stable for me and bettery battery life than the 1100LV!

I was able to copy bootanimation.zip files into data/local and so far each one I have tested works. Some have a few glitches, but that's probably fixable in the individual zip file itself.

This is much simpler than making boot animations for the DX. I will probably make some of my own.

saps, i was pumped to see dirrks answer to your question about more kernels at xda! can't wait for a 1250sv or even 1300. Now that the dx has module overclocking on 2.2 (even though on the stock kernel which doesnt play that nice with it) and the g2 has a stable overclock to 1.3+ (although it still has the temp root/hack stuff to do it) we need something else too! j/k

Anxiously awaiting the day of 2.2 aosp roms with voodoo!

I know! It's gonna be so great. I just love the crap out of this phone. I'm really liking that it's WAY easier to make boot animations for, and do all this modding the community is doing. I think the DX will catch up somewhat. Even though it has a locked bootloader, I believe it's still software based, and software can eventually be figured out. It is nice for us Fascinate owners to get these releases out in speedy fashion, though.

Yeah I was pleased by his answer as well. Its too bad he's the only one pushing the envelope for us these days. Don't get me wrong, Dirrks is awesome but as they say many hands make light work. It would just be nice if there was a small posse working on this. Same thing with our pending 2.2 stuff, the more the merrier. Birdman might be the King but he is still just one man, working relatively alone and with just 24 hours in his day

I'm having the same issue. I hade the Voodoo .2 Lagfix installed, then uninstalled because of FC issues. I was still having FC issues even without the Voodoo installed so I flashed the stock kernel. My FC's have ceased and all seems well but my Wireless Tether app states that I have an "Unknown device-type" and my device isn't supported. Wireless tether will start but I can't see it with my laptop or my iTouch.
 
Ok. I got everything working again, installed the kernal, etc. But now every time I turn on my phone the female voice talks to me!!! It sounds like she's saying "data partition not detected." But everything seems to work!?!

I can change boot animations now - works every time. I have successful root access. SetCPU specifies the proper kernal from Derrk. Everything seems happy, but that voice is going to creep me out every time I start my phone. How do I get rid of it?

Whoa thats so weird SK. I don't have that robot girl voice at all. I have Dirrk's 1000LV.

Yeah I can tell you how to disable boot sounds. But the fact is you should not be hearing anything on boot from the female droid, not after the very first time. Data Partition not detected is when you remove voodoo and thats one time only
