Root Dirrk's D01 overclocking kernels with lagfix

autokiller has been good but sometimes it interferes with google voice. Whenever i tried placing a call it will not fully connect, it usually works the second time i try. According to the dev, its OK to set it on aggressive (82, 90, 98) and the alternate screen off on ultimate to obtain great battery life. I have fiddle with extreme but i think its killing Set CPU.
How do you maneuver the "oom" value process? should it be higher or lower and what is a good number to set it up. thanks again

I don't know if you even can raise it. Just lower it. The lower it is the more critical AutoKiller will consider the process. I wish you could raise oom values so it would kill certain junk faster ....

I'm running LV 1200 and getting:

MFLOPS: 9.58
TIme 8.75 sec

Quadrant: 1904

Is there a way to more finely adjust the SET CPU settings? I mean, why the gap, it's either 800 or 1200
can I set it to 1000?

Also: Is there an advantage to having the D02 vs the D012(which is what i have)?

I tried flashing D02 just for the heck of it.. and it removed the Galaxy/verizon boot animation. but then loaded my launcher as usual.

I re-ran the Lin and quad and was still getting essentially the same scores.
at this point I'm mostly about preserving battery life... I guess i can live with no splash screen if it means D02 will improve batt life.

The gap in SetCPU is by default 800 is the last step in the throttle up process before the top end 1Ghz. When the dev's OC'd they only adjusted the top end. They can adjust the second tier they just didnt for the kernels out now. Dirrk did move the second tier up on his 1400 and 1600 but those arent out right now anymore. So yeah if you want 1000 you gotta get that kernel. D02 is the same as D012 I believe. Only difference is D02 has the bootanimations enabled.

So, my battery life with the new LV has been less than stellar. I'm about three hours out and am down to about 73%. I've noticed the speed increase (snappy menus, opening apps etc). I've also removed TW which made it even more responsive.

I did notice that when I first applied the LV 1200 I did not have to wait the 20minutes that every post said I should anticipate. After the voice came on it only took like 2-3 mins. Do you guys think its possible that maybe my kernal did not completely flash and is not running at a lower voltage? is there a way to check?
I suspect the main culprit to be the screen because I've been doing a lot of browsing as my way to test it out (hoping to see some improvement in this area... i know others like to test using pandora).

In the 15 min it took to compose this message I'm now down to 67%

if you are switching voodoo kernels it wont take long between each, did you go to lv 1200 from another voodoo or was that over stock kernel? even when converting voodoo the most my phone takes is 3-5 mins, disabling usually 10-15 though.

if you're setcpu slider goes to 1200 then you are definetly running an oc kernel, if you arent sure if u did 1200sv or lv just reflash the lv. I usually wipe davlik cache between kernels though so i dont run into kernel conflicts.

as for the battery issue, wipe battery stats in clockwork recovery and then charge it all the way up

Well,i think I'm coming from "stock". Of course I did screw my phone up and had to use odin to get back to stock.
and yes the very first time I flashed the LV D012 kernal it was very brief. I've switched back and forth from LV D012 and D02 so I guess that's more reassuring that it did take. And yes I can use the slider up to 1200. [Do I need to mess with anything in the profile tab? should "enable" be checked? ]
I'll try those other suggestions you mentioned and see if it helps.
Thanks!

Ps: whet do I find davlik cache?

profiles can help your battery life significantly (i use(d) them on my inc to great success) but i dont really use them on my sf beause the battery is so good. occasionally ill use screen off and low battery ones. enable only needs to be checked if you are using them, otherwise no.

as for the battery drain, battery stat wipe usually helps...do you use your screen on the brightest setting?

I'm actually using a free app called dimmer, from the market. it drops brightness even below what stock allows.

How do I access the menu to wipe battery stats?

EDIT: NM I figured it out... they're in the ADVANCED tab.

Ok I'm going to recharge phone...

just fyi, it may take a few charging cycles for the battery to be show correctly, so if the first cycle or two its still running down quick give it a chance

I've also removed TW which made it even more responsive.

Did you actually get rid of it? Or just skin over it with an alternative launcher? I'm curious because I thought there were stability issues if you actually disable the TW elements. I'd certainly like to disable them if that's working now ....

Yea I think I disabled it from starting up.

I copied what is posted here:
http://androidforums.com/fascinate-all-things-root/205635-goodbye-touchwiz.html

They go into detail about how to do it and also talk about Apps that are safe to remove once rooted.

I know we were all under the impression we could not. However, I did this Sunday at its so much better now. The funny thing is the original xda thread is from mid September so we could have done this all along. Somehow we all missed that thread for 6 weeks .
Im not kidding SK, if you ever had to wait 10 or 15 seconds when trying to replace a LP dock shortcut and you wanna put an app there, you know what I mean. Now that list pops up immediately, its great. Many former lags are gone. In the default task manager you can switch between the screens now no lag. In the settings manage applications is now faster too.

didnt get a chance to remove tw today, but ive never had that problem with lp dock shortcuts, they were instant for me pretty much.

Lucky you! everytime I put shortcuts => applications => there would be a 5 second lag or so here...

Same here! I always wondered what caused that. I followed the steps though, and it is still lagging on pulling up the app list. And the phone locked up once while playing angry birds. Grrrrrr... I'll have to double check. Are there other TW files we can move/rename??

Which dimmer is it there's 3-4 out there?

Hmm, odd you still have lag. I literally have no with those new app dock shortcuts. I know you love AutoKiller and I started using it based off your recommendation but Sunday I uninstalled it and honestly Im doing better without it especially in terms of responsiveness and free available memory. Food for thought.

Also regarding TW stuff I think you can dump the Calc and Calendar

Update: So I'm on my third charging cycle after wiping my batt stats and running ultimate juice.... I've even switched to the D02 1000 LV (not 1200 LV).

In only 36 mins (since being unplugged) of MINIMAL use (i sent 3 text messages). My battery is now at 93%!!
I'm wondering if I'm just really conscious of this now and maybe it's been this way all along.?

I thought these new kernals would really help me with my battery life.

Any suggestions on what else might be the problem? Maybe switching to SV would help?

:(

I renamed the TW obex file as well, and now it seems the lag is gone. Don't know if that did it or not, but all seems happy now. Boy I love this phone. When it works, it really freaking works.

I know My lag was gone the instant i renamed the files. Do you guys still experience this occasional lag though? Every now and then I still get the occasional freeze for like 10 secs while waiting to create a shortcut to my apps or to Activities (especially this one). but nothing compared to what it was before, my screen would actually go to sleep before the screen came up.

The occasional lag from creating shortcut to my apps was instantly removed by removing touchwiz (from the other thread).

I know the immediate app drawer shortcut thing was/is the best. Im always changing that damn LP dock and its icons but now its almost a treat to do it with this ferocious speed.

BTW, boys and girls since this is the/a kernel thread. jt just threw up a two new kernels: stock Ghz, slight UV, voodoo or not, BLN, colorfix, and what he called other optimizations I think
