I am now rooted. I have Titanium Backup, along with a few other tools. Does anyone know a way to disable ALL notifications? The only notifications I want to show up are voicemail and text message notifications. Nothing else. I don't want to be notified if I am roaming, if Amazon App store has an update, ANYTHING!!! Is this at all possible?

The ones I want to disable don't. For example, the Amazon App store will notify EVERY time the app needs updating. There is no setting to toggle that off. Also, if I am roaming, I get an exclamation point in the notification area. Same if I have the 4G radio on and there is not a signal. I want to get rid of these notifications. I simply want to be rid of anything that will pop up there, for the exception of voicemail/text notifications.

If you have the 4G on and your not in a 4G area you should probably shut that off. Having the 4G radio constantly search for a signal is going to kill your battery life.

If you go Into the market and hit "menu", then settings you will see an option that says notify me about updates, I think that should fix your problem, as far as the other notifications, basically look around on your phone and mess around with some of the options, basically anything that says notifications on it uncheck to your liking....also go into your wireless & networks section and go down to mobile networks and see the options there....

Thats what they are designed to do. Most apps I have used have a notificatin section in their settings you can turn off. But not all do. For apps that do if there is no way to turn them off then create a silent ringtone and have that the be ringtone for that app. Other than that all I can say is either deal with it or get another phone.
Thanks for all of the advice. I know that is what they are designed to do. I don't like apps to automatically update for me on anything, or even notify me of an update. For example, I will use the Amazon App store. I would rather go into the app itself, and push a button that says "Check for updates". I can't stand looking down at my phone and seeing the green light flashing, only to find out that Amazon has an update. I can find that out next time I use Amazon. I do that with everything else on my phone and PC. I have my anti-virus set to update virus definitions, ONLY when I hit the button to do so. I want it so that if I see the green light flashing on my phone, I know for certain it is because I have a message, and nothing else. I will look into a different ROM, but I appreciate all of the feedback.

There is no setting there that you speak of. Maybe your on some old version of the app that has it, but mine doesn't.
And I agree with the OP. It's horribly annoying and I would drink a cup of ram's piss to get it to stop annoying me Constantly.

The settings are there. It's tap Market tap menu button on phone tap settings and Notifications is the very top setting. Uncheck and quit complaining. I mean really If you guys don't like notifications keep your phone on silent or get another type phone. I have custom Ringtones that I really don't mind hearing and if I do get tired of them guess what I CHANGE THEM.
