Root [DISCONTINUED] MegaTron 6.2.5

I'm having an odd thing going on Ive never seen before. Maybe nothing to do with the ROM, idk, but I'm only getting a chime for about half, maybe 3/5 of my incoming texts. It seems very, very random - as in, idk wth could be causing some texts to chime in, and some not to - but I will get a chime, look at phone, and find I have a couple msgs sitting there that didn't alert me. It started yesterday, I think, and I've been watching closely today, and I literally watched a txt come in that didn't chime, I responded, and when I got the next one back from the same person a couple mins later, it chimed fine. wierd. anyone know anything about this? it's bizarre. I keep my phone laying on the desk beside me so I will hear when I get txts. I have customers that text me sometimes, so it's kinda important to me that it alerts me to new msgs. I'm certain that some are, and some are not, sending the alert and I cannot find any pattern to which are and which aren't.
like I say, it may not have anything to do with it, but I haven't had this issue before I changed to this rom, so idk.
Anyone else having this happen?

i get that when the txt program is open. if message program open doesn't chime, esp. when the screen on. drives my wife crazy, but shes on ctmod and it does it screen on or off so she has to back out after each text to get it to notify.

Chev- amazing job, love this ROM, the little bugs wont keep me away. Been on 6.2.5 for a few hours now and the only thing i dont like is quickpic keeps fc on open. reinstalled several times. can get it to open only once right after install, then fc every time.

Are you installing it from the market? Works fine for me. If your restoring your data to it as well try not doing that to see if it stops the fcs

Chev, youre a god among men. awesome. 6.2.5 is perfect. fast smooth and yes without data restore to fc apps all is great. trying to save a couple minutes just gave more headaches. thanks for all your quick replies. donation to come shortly

Yes. If you do I recommend removing the No-Frills app and using the HyperToolbox. It will allow you to use all the kernel features.

Just making sure cuz bloods old kernel overheated my phone Alot and I think there is a reason why chev uses the old one but ehh idk at least I know its safe

I downloaded the "clock center" for both miui and touchwiz, just to see them. I installed the MIUI one and then reinstalled the clock right version.

I downloaded them last night and this morning when I woke up I had 2 little "downloaded file" icons on the notification bar and it was those same 2 files. Then later this evening as I was out, it happened again. Both files got downloaded again! Only this time it was slightly more annoying, since I was not on WiFi, so it used my data plan.

Why is it trying to keep downloading these files? Is there a setting I can set that will tell it I would like to only download a file once?

Are you sure that it actually redownloaded it? Or if the notification just reappeared? Doubt that it would download twice with your authority.

Well I guess the only way for you to find out is to try it. It will work because I run it. Just keep in mind that not all phones can handle those kernels. Yours may be one that can't handle them. The reason we decided on Hyper v2.was because at the time it was the most stable of the kernels. I tested several but it was by far the most reliable. Blood has since stabilized the newer version of the Hyper kernel. I run it with no issues.

I ran H426oc fine up to 1340 MHz, I don't feel like running it all the way because I feel like it wastes battery and theres no need cuz it runs fine on 1340 anyway, so some phones can't handle 1400 MHz?

Absolutely. Many of the phones can't handle 1.4ghz. Not only that, many of them can't even handle a stable over clock period.

Fortunately mine is one that can handle 1.4ghz all day long although I usually only run it at 1.3. I'm like you, there's no sense in running it higher if it's not needed. The only thing it does is kill the battery faster.

Good question. It looks like it was just the notification showing up again (any idea why that would happen?) because I had moved the files from where the browser downloaded the files to the directory structure where I keep my files that I use for flashing.

When I checked the download directory just now, the files were not there, so I guess I can infer from that that the files were not redownloaded, but just the notification showed up again.

Sorry for the false alarm! :o

Ooohh that's nice and yea I agree, and what problems do they face for those that can't handle over clock?

Phones can freeze, lag, or blowup... just kidding about that last one. Also don't forget that underclocking can have similar results. Not all phones can handle 120.

Lol oh so it is true about underclocking as well hmm wow I never knew

What is a good setting for overclock? I don't know much about it but I'm willing to learn....

Well first I would set the Max at 1200 and the min 220 and if your phone can handle it, you can set the Max higher and see how far your phone supports it, as far as I know mine supports up to 1340, I haven't tested higher than that yet but I don't think I am cuz my phone runs fine either way so yea

I played around with the oc kernel for a while and got as far as 1340 also before I gave up and realized that it was plenty fast for what I need on the regular (non oc) kernel. For the gains I saw in speed, I'd rather have the battery last a bit longer. YMMV. I am happy with the top speed of 1000.

I don't really play games though, so I guess that probably makes a difference.

Yep plus this phone can't really play all the big games like the Sims free play and GTA 3 cuz it over heats my phone and drains my battery like crazy idk about your phone but yea that's how mine is

OK what is the best overclock to use?

There really isn't an answer to this question. You have to figure out which is best for your phone. I keep mine at 1200/120 all the time, but I can change it on the fly if I want. I can also overclock to 1400, but I don't run that all of the time.

What's best is what works for you and what your phone can handle. It's a tradeoff between performance and battery, and depending on each persons use, the answer will always be different.
