Dlev ROM3 for KI4 out now

Typical... you wait for ages and 2 great ROM's come out the same day.

Just released, hot on the heels of LeoMar's Revolution ROM, is Dlev7's KI4 release.

See here:-

[ROM][2.3.5][KI4] DlevROM2 Version 3.0: What Are You Waiting For? - xda-developers

Fully compatible with JKay's newly released v12.1 themes from here:-

Mod's and animations by sileshn can be found here:-

for more information on Dlev ROM's, see here:-

UPDATE

Well, I have to say that DlevROM3 and sileshn's mod's do not disappoint. If anything they are faster, slicker and smoother than ever in KI4. As we say in my country... "Its like a rat up a drainpipe".

Common British Phrases: like a rat up a drainpipe

and in my opinion... "Its the dogs bollocks".

Urban Dictionary: Dog's Bollocks

:D

A little tip... I found that the Siyah kernel v2.0 was in fact a real battery drainer on this and other ROM's.

Dlev7 has chosen the Siyah v1.7.8 for this ROM, in lieu of anything better.

You could try the Siyah v1.8 kernel from here:-

[KERNEL][UNIFIED] SiyahKernel v2.0 - "One kernel to rule them all" - xda-developers

or the Ninphetamine v2.1.3 kernel from here:-

[Kernel][GPL][XXKG5] NEW SOURCES Ninphetamine-2.1.3 - Now with 100% less Samsungyness - xda-developers

or, if you are really brave/foolhardy, the Siyah beta kernel v2.1beta7 from here:-

Thanks for yet another awesome review really appreciate it ironass. Gonna add you to the thanks sections in the OP of the XDA thread.

Thanks for the review, buddy. I am sure users will enjoy v3 much better than they did v2. V3 is really good.

@ironass: Siyah 1.8rc2 is working beautifully with this ROM. :)

@Dlev7 & sileshn: kudos for your work. DlevROM v3.0 is a class act. Performance is great (responsive and smooth) and the standard theme could have been custom-made for my tastes.

WOW! Thanks guys. It's not often that I've seen a ROM developer and a well known modder on these forums.

In the immortal words of Wayne's World... "We are not worthy" :)

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to visit Android Forums and your users.

Thanks for the tip Slug! Will give it a try if I can locate a copy of it... guess who deleted their beta kernels when v2.0 was announced? :(

I'm with you all the way on this one Slug.

As I said in my opening post... typical, 2 great ROM's released within hours of one another. Added to this was the release of JKay's themes, v12.1, for the KI4 ROM's and it was just like Christmas yesterday.

As they say around here... "I'm as happy as a pig in fertiliser" :D

Got this installed now.
VERY nice. Hats off to Delv and sileshn for another great ROM

As already been mentioned its very slick and snappy.
I have installed the green circle battery mod and contemplating the stock samsung dialler and updated the default kernel (Siyah 1.7.8) to Siyah 1.8 which claims to "fix" the android OS battery bug.

I have this and CheckROM Revolution. Not much to choose from between the two to be honest, but I do really like the standard look+feel of the standard DlevROM theme. If DlevROM had a kitchen app similar to CheckROM Revolution then this would definitely tip the scales for me.

Noticed a new feature within calls:
settings>call>phone number locator.
I didnt notice this on my Revolution KI4 build. Seems like you also need to go into this and manually update. Not 100% sure of what it does exactly but apparently it shows the caller's region number?

Also in language and keyboard settings there is a "Gingerbread Keyboard" option
I might restore back to Revolution to double check, as I dont know if these are Delv or KI4 features

Top job again fellas. :)

Yes butty. Just nipping in before jetting off to Marmaris (hopefully unaffected by the recent earthquake)

I am now a married man! Great day.

So what are your thoughts comparing DlevROM to CheckROM Revolution?
I have to say I really like the standard theme Delv's comes with as standard. The circlebattery mod makes it spot on. The green theme and text font makes it a very pleasing UI experience.
As for performance, I dont notice too much difference, and I can't say about battery as yet as its too early to say.

As I said earlier, the Kitchen app is a huge plus for CRR, and if Dlev could implement something similar it really would be the icing on the cake, but ultimately day to day usage is the order of the day (extremely handy although Kitchen is) so this would probably tip the scales in favour of DlevROM for me. I feel a little unqualified to compare honestly at the moment as the two roms were released so close together, so i really havent given Revolution a good innings yet.

hawker... shouldn't you be doing other things on your honeymoon besides posting here? :D

You should be fine in Marmaris old boy. You're over 1,000 miles from Van. Possibly the only thing that will make the world move in Marmaris... will be you! :)

As for the 2 ROM's, what can I say? Friday was a very busy day for me thanks to your recommendation of the Revolution ROM. I had tried previous versions of Revolution and had just thought them, OK. However, this one on KI4 blows everything away!

Hot on the heels of Revolution came the KI4 release from Dlev7 and I could not resist the temptation to install and configure it as I had been a big fan of Dlev7's KI3 ROM. Again... WOW! It's like his previous ROM on steroids.

I have been doing some benchmarks on both of them and there isn't a cigarette paper between them. They are both fast and responsive. As for looks... well I've installed JKay's v12.1 themes and DeLuxe settings on both.

I have to say, if you held a gun to my head, I could not choose between them.

As you say, the "kitchen" app on Revolution makes it easier for novices to install and configure but that is not an issue for me. Besides, sileshn's mod's for the DlevROM are outstanding... big fan of his Mix Animation and Stock Samsung Dialler.

I will be keeping both of them on my phone and switching between them.

Like you, I need more time to compare the two ROM's fully before I can comment further.

Tell Mrs hawker that there's plenty to see and do in Marmaris whilst you get on with the serious business of evaluating these ROM's.

We will expect daily updates! :D

P.S. Congratulations to you and commiserations to Mrs H.

Thanks butty means a lot to me.
These have been busy days indeed mate. Just like a bus 2 come along, bish bash bosh!
I like you have the 2 side by side and will flick between the two for some time to come after I return home. For me its going to take something pretty special to knock either of these 2 beauties off my number1 spot.

hi

the guide on xda is for installing v1.2, not 3.1, as a noob how would i go about installing 3.1 if anybody could take a couple of minutes out to help me please?

I currently have lite'ning rom 6.1 installed with CWM, do I need this custom recovery that is discussed, if so, how do I get it?

I am on o2 in the UK if that makes any difference for any instructions.

I appreciate any help in advance.

Just installed the dlevrom version 3.1, installed absolutely fine, started it up and everything is in German or Dutch or some funny language, anyone had the same issue?

silly me, pressed the wrong button, now all in English and working fine :)

I got this too. Initially the setup is in danish.
I then got a problem afterward with titanium backup being in german and I had to re install it.
But not sure I like all the grey text that has seemed to have replaced the green in this version.

Can anyone remember what # key sequence returns three camera firmware version? *#*#34971539#*#* does not seem to work for me any more. I had very poor photos with Dlev3.0 regarding the flash. It would seem to show lots of specs of dust flying everywhere when the flash pre-lights before actually flashing and image quality was poor. Seems very much better with check rom revolution however

Edit: Found the correct sequence. It is in fact *#34971539#
My camera firmware is SCEF02
Phone firmware is TBEC28

Update:

I've been giving DlevROM 3.1 the proper go that it deserves, and it is indeed a superb offering. A lot of the green text is now grey which may be not to everyone's taste, but its a grower. CheckROM Rev's Kitchen App. is a HUGE plus point on that offering, allowing an extremely convenient access point to be able to keep in touch with the latest updates etc, but as a ROM, Dlev's is every bit as good (if not slightly better) than CheckROM Rev's. For me I am 100% undecided as to which I prefer! :D If Dlev had a similar Kitchen app I think it would probably tip the scales for me.

DlevROM overnight consumed 3% of battery in 7 hours with data and wifi on (sleep). So pretty good. This was with Siyah 1.8, but I am now on v2.1.1 so this will be interesting on how this does tonight (btw I find Siyah 2.1.1 a BIG improvement over 1.8. Not a lag in sight, very slick)

I installed the camera mod from CheckROM onto DlevROM and this has improved things a little, and for anyone interested, Dlev's statusbar animations are also compatible with CheckROM.

A few things I have noticed on this ROM that i have not noticed on others:

1. In call settings, there is an option for "Phone number locator". I've not seen this in action yet, but apparently it shows the caller's region number information

2. stock sms has a skin option, allowing blue, brown, evergreen, mono and joypop. this does not affect the sms message opening list, but is applied to conversations contained within it. this is reminiscent of much earlier firmwares circa KE? that used to have this feature.

3. It does not have the sms background colour option (black or white) which affects only the typed message area of the screen. CheckROM has this option

4. in Languages and keyboard, there is a "Gingerbread keyboard" option which can be selected as the default input method if required. This is similar to the Samsung keypad with similar options

:)

I have got both butty. I just switch between CWM backups.
What will LolBoot give you over this? I think its basically the same thing

If there is anyone else on here on DlevROM 3.1 with Siyah 2.1.1 can you check if BLN is working for me please? Not so for me.
I've just cleared cache+dalvik cache twice and reinstalled the bln app, but no joy here! :(

Works for me with Siyah v2.1.1 on CheckROM.

Edit: Installed CheckROM's BLN mod over DlevROM and has now brought my BLN back to life. :)

Also noticed that 3.1 now adds send/received SMS to the call logs which was not the case in v2.
Personally I prefer these going into the logs, but if you do not want this, installing the mod from CheckROM's kitchen will do the trick

Hi hawker. I am on the same combination as you are. Could you help a newbie out with some morextra Detailed instructions on how to get done working? Where do I get this checkrom mod you mention?

One more question for you experts. Dlevrom is my first mod. Love it. However it made me loose my Norwegian swype. Swype beta does not support Norwegian language. Is there any way I can restore my original swype from titanium? This did not work in cyanogenmod (tried it for half an hour). I did not dare try this in dlevrom... Any suggestions?

When on check rom just go into the kitchen and download the bln mod from there. This will create a blnsupport.zip file in downloads/checkrom_revo folder. Flash this zip with cwm when dlevrom is current.

DlevROM 3.1 + Siyah 2.1.1, normal usage.... I'm impressed. :)

I reckon it'll make the 2day mark easily as I'm about to crash for the night.

update: it passed the 2day point with 15% remaining. :D

Very good slug.
You seem to be having a good many wakelocks tho butty?
I reckon without those you would have reached 3 days! :)

sorry but are you using a battery saving app like green power and juicedefender or are you manually disabling wifi everytime you don't need it ?
