I guess you take the 'Ford' emblems off your car, too ? Like I said - you can ignore the bloatware. Do you keep their icons on your home screen to remind you they're there? All the apps I use are kept in folders on my home screens, so I don't even open my apps tray - I couldn't even name you the bloaware apps because I never see them.

My last phone, an Eris, had almost no bloatware at all. I thought that was great until I realized why - the device had very limited internal space to store apps. I'd much rather have this device where space is not an issue. I can ignore the bloatware.
 
Brought the DINC2 back this morning and returning to DINC1. DINC2 doesn't suck - I just quickly realized how attached I am to the original, compact form factor and lightweight design (all that plastic makes it lighter, without seeming plastic-y). It wasn't worth the several hundred dollars out of pocket.
 
I absolutely love this phone!! best phone i ever had, i had the original incredible loved it but got rid of it because it didnt sync with my car. Got the Droid X talking about a bad phone just horrible SLOW, crashed all the time!!
Got this incredible 2 amazing so fast and smooth no issues what so ever!!!

I'm seeing DInc2's for $0.01 in the thread devoted to "Best Deals", and my Ford has lost all it's emblems except for the steering wheel. I think they just fell off. Couldn't hold on to rust or something like that:confused:

I hope that if someone opens this thread, they don't pay attention to the rant at the beginning, but to the fans. I love my phone. Sure I can think of ways to improve it, but I challenge anyone to name a phone that has half the abilities, flexibility, and battery life without a few issues.

I agree, I hope that this thread gets read in it's entirety. The pros for this phone far outweigh the cons. Just hanging on to it a few days and exploring what it can do for you is the key to falling in love with it. It almost seems like in a weird way that it has to learn you and how you use your phone most.

There are a lot of great and knowledgeable people hanging out here, who are so willing to help. Also, very funny people! Keep on rockin' it guys! You keep a smile on my face :D

Yeah, I don't qualify for an upgrade until August 2012 and had to pay the cash price of $439+tax. My idea was to unload the refurb Dinc1 on ebay w/all accessories to offset, but that would still be around $300 out of pocket all said and done.

Another thing I wasn't fond of on the Dinc2 in the 12 hours I had it - the tapered edges actually made it less comfortable to hold at the edges. Also, the lock button at the top was hard to find by feel and hard to press. I am used to the convenience of reaching up with my thumb to lock the phone before putting in my pocket or whatever. Combined w/the extra weight, I just wasn't as comfortable to carry about and use.

Inc2 is a great phone. I sell phones for a living, and aside from not having 4g LTE antenna, this is by far the most solid phone out on vzw right now. Battery life, especially since the GB update is awesome.

Also, I have had zero of the problems you guys talked about, with the alarm clock, nothing. ONly issue I had was that after the GB update it put email to push, which literally killed my battery in about 4 hours, otherwise, the phone has been stellar.
 
I stopped using sense back when i had an eris, because my alarm decided just not to go off (twice) making me late to a new job which was NOT good. I blamed sense and hated it it ever sense. As soon as i got my Dinc2 i couldn't wait to get rid of the sense, so I rooted it the next day, and I absolutely love this phone..


point: Dont blame the phone, blame the ROM.

Oh Lord! I hope for your sake you aren't one of the guys at one of the corporate retail stores for Verizon. If so, my wife, who is a CSR at a VZW call center, has several foul mouthed things to say to you and ALL of your coworkers! ;)
 
My experience with the Inc2 has been even worse than Sashimigrade's. Trying to use this phone, for me, has been like trying to put socks on an angry octopus.

I won't go into the long list of troubles I've had, some cured and some caused by Gingerbread, but the saddest of all is the battery life. I've done everything: turned off auto-sync on everything, mobile network, 3G, gps, wifi, bluetooth, fast boot, orientation (no flipping the phone sideways), haptic feedback etc. Extended polling for all apps to at least four-hour intervals, dimmed display to 30%, and only about 50% of my display space is used with apps (and very few widgets), I don't use Facebook at all (wish I could, but it kills the battery even faster), don't play games, basically don't really use the phone for much, or not for very long. A game will kill this battery dead in 4 hours or less. Awake and Up times differ wildly, so I know it's not an app keeping the phone up. I've tried task killers etc., Juice Defender, and so forth. I've tried bump charging it, and I did a factory reset (which only reinstalled about 90% of my chosen apps). None of this helped.

Battery usage says that display is always 90% or more of the culprit, but if I dimmed it any more I wouldn't be able to see it. Everything else is under 3%. If I do nothing on the phone but just look through settings and rearrange my UI for any period of time, it will drain the battery at about 15+% an hour. And again, that's without using anything that the phone has to offer. Anybody got any ideas I haven't thought of for bringing down display usage? Any other launchers besides Sense use less display power? Or something like that? Otherwise this phone goes back (hopefully) for a swap. Anybody know from first-hand experience a good swap for the Inc2?

I'm really bummed. The first four or five days I had this I couldn't believe how amazing it was. So many options, if only there was power enough to use them.
 
Wow a reply from someone not drinking the koolaid. I've resolved most of my issues through a factory reset. I still can't get infinite reminders though. Another option that came stock on the phone was to turn the phone upside down to automatically turn on the speaker phone. I thought it was a cool idea, but guess what, doesn't work. Who knows what else doesn't work that I haven't found yet.

Did they do any QA on this phone before release? Did they do any QA before this ginger snap thing? Wtf?

I have to admit though that I'm not having the battery issues Kalokagathon is having. I complained about it in my first post but the factory reset seems to have made it better.

lol no I don't work for corp I work for an indirect retailer, but we have a corp store right down the road and I hear all kinds of "interesting" stories.
 
Sashimi: you can tell that when this phone works, it must be something awesome to have. I had four or five days of sheer awesomeness with it before it fizzled out on me. Check these out:

1) None of my sent emails for non-Gmail accounts are ever kept. Tech support doesn't know why.

2) Photos randomly rearrange and disappear from the camera gallery, and reappear after a power cycle, but only temporarily.

3) Mp3s used to disappear randomly, but it looks like Gingerbread fixed that. I don't entirely know, though, because I can't play music for very long.

4) Voice activation works terribly. Usually I get a Network Error message. Otherwise, if I say, "Text John Smith let's meet at Mellow Mushroom," it produces something like, "Monkey slap birthday party donkey teeth."

5) I've turned led flashing off, but it still turns on when the battery gets low.

6) Profiles change randomly. Third-party profile apps disappear periodically and reset to whatever the phone wants. (I use Simple Profile from the Market, and it seems to last the longest before going poof.)

Again, I'd find some kind of work around for these (and other) problems if I had the power to do so.
 
Hope I'm not hijacking your thread, Sashimi. Does anybody know if the Inc2 can produce an actual list of the apps you have, a list you can put on your PC? I'm going to try for another factory reset, but given that only about 90% of my apps came back up the last time, I'd like to have a list of my apps so I can re-download anything that doesn't get reinstalled this time. Thanks.

you came on the htc incredible 2 thread on this website, and are surprised you weren't greeted with open arms after your little rant?

Again, I've had zero issues with the phone. Had it for about 2 months now and no problems whatsoever. The GB OTA update was smooth, battery life is awesome, the alarm works just fine and always has. On my original inc it stopped working, but I just dled a free ap that worked just fine.

As far as the LED thing, that seems rather trivial...hit the power button and see if you have any missed things. You are looking at the phone already, doesn't take much more effort to just push that power button real quick does it?

Never had a problem with the stock mp3 player. Yesterday I was on the road for about 5 hours and listed to mp3's 2 hours of the time with zero issues, then streamed mlbgameday all thru blutooth and never had a single issue.
