These applications DO NOT work on the Optimus M and will brick your phone.

The safest and only option to have Custom Recovery and then flash ROMS is to install:

Sorry, I had to try something as I'm seeing a spike in newcomers using these applications. I'm hoping this will save a few n00bs the heartache of having to learn how to restore their phones after they've made this mistake.

Problem is that Google and Clockwork need to be made aware. Clockwork can post a warning in their Market info or Google can remove the app from the LGMS690 compatibility list so it doesn't appear at all. That will at least slow people down if they're getting instructions that provide Market links instead of direct downloads.
 
This really needs to be stickied at the top of the page. Would probably save a lot of people a headache.
 
Lol most people don't come here tell after they all ready bricked there phone so it really wont help much lol sorry for the caps.
 
This thread = FTW. I had ROM Manager on my phone (but didn't use it yet) for about a day or two, then I saw this thread today and immediately uninstalled it. So, Thank you OP. Anyone who cares can go look at my greetings post wherever those threads get posted when you click the giant "Don't Be Shy" pic after initially registering. I wasn't one of the people to wait on coming here until I bricked my phone. Instead I asked friends a million questions and researched/read a bunch before I changed anything about my phone. I never ever want to de-brick a phone. Never. Never have had to, and don't want the experience. So I'll happily learn from everyone else's. :P

I understand it all, but I have been dying to know and have had no luck finding anything but noise about where this supposed overclocking kernel is for the MS690. I've seen people post about it, but it's like it was vaporware or something. So since you say you're running it, ***where can I find it, and how far can you overclock the MS690 safely?***

So I see from your posts and others that there are more than just the sense-ish and gingerbread-ish and chickeneater roms that will work on mine? I.e., I see a lot of people seem to be running CyanogenMod 7 on an MS690...?

Pretty much its those you mentioned. Slider rom, romzero annndddd I think that's it.

Yeah, I made that Clockwork mistake and mine is stuck in fastboot mode. I just went and bought another opfimus and steered clear of clockwork. So the thread on how to unbrick via S/W mode is the right way to fix it?
 
Question, what CWM did you all try to flash? There is no CWM available in RM for the Optimus M MS690, so if you flashed one for another Optimus then thats why it bricked your phone. The are about a Dozen variants of the Optimus and only 2 that are exactly alike are the OC and OM.

Would someone please so me the proof CWM/RM doesnt work besides a 'it bricked my phone' or 'it just dont'. And I do mean a CWM made for the OM MS690, not the S or V, etc etc.



Nevermind, this has been proven wrong, just need the correct CWM ;)


Mods I think this thread can be retired now ;)
