Do you still use Facebook? Why?!

Kind Of Kinda GIF by Bounce

Literally never had to verify identity on any social platform.

I assume you weren't using a VPN or TOR to access social platforms, and so FB, Twitter, etc. will have your real IP address. It's not only me, I know a few people who've had Fakebook and Twotter demanding that they verify their true ID details, like driving license or passport, all In China accessing the interwebs via VPNs. Identity/real-name verification is something that must be done for online services and social networks here, like Wechat. Bilibili, TikTok, etc.

Even though it is my isp, I can conform it though, that is a great saftey though tbh, it is a newer way on feeling that top end though, but I do not use much of a VPN blocker, maybe I do. Maybe I did download it on accident using majorgeeks.. I am not going to reveal all my tricks ;)

Mum lives in another town I use the messenger app to stay in touch. She can't use Zoom that I would prefer. Market place as well.

My mom gave me her [broken] Windows 10 laptop which I got going again (it's just got a broken screen hinge) and being the first exposure to Windows 10 since like 2017 (Been using a combo of Windows 7, Vista and Linux since) somehow I was able to recover my Facebook account. i don't recognize the site anymore. Last time I logged in, FarmVille was the top game. That's how long ago it's been. I don't even recognize 90% of my friends since they've all changed their names and profile pictures. My 'feed' is a mess. But at least it's not forcing 2FA hell on me.

A shame in a way, I met my girlfriend there, and learned a TON about veganism from that site. I probably would have been better off remembering it as it was in 2009-13. Not the mess it's become. What happened to the old blue/white theme that reminded me of Flickr? Does Flickr even exist? Maybe that theory should just live in my head...

Yeah you got to learn about the 2FA, but if you just pinned it away and do not type it right way, your account will be frozen, I still have one that is free, and can double check my notifications on my other profiles with ease that way.

I want no part in 2FA. I believe in secure passwords and not being stupid. I hate safety culture. It's my business. If i mess up, it's on me. Ain't nobody's business to force 'extra' security on me, or to protect me from myself. I am not some 4 year old kid, I'm an adult. I actually know how to think for myself and have common sense. If I'm happy doing the same thing for 20 or so years, let me continue doing things that way until I DECIDE MYSELF that things should change.

Besides, when I was using it, I lost a few accounts when the phones died (and couldn't get the codes) or the phone number changed. It was just more annoying either way. Took ten times longer to login as a result. Back then, Smart TVs would log out of things such as Netflix or YouTube often, and having to deal with 2FA made the situation worse. Today, I just enter password and go.

I also don't trust password managers. If it's in the 'cloud' (Clouds are for rain!) it's able to be hacked or the data leaked. Just ask the T-Mobile customers.

I want life to be easy and comfortable, not endlessly frustrating. That's why I stay as far away from the 'future' as possible. Today's upgrades are massive downgrades. Just look at UI design today. Everything is made like it's the 80s again. Flat UI is not 'modern'. Modern = new, and flat UI is as dated today as DeskMate and Windows 1.x. The era when updates are actual progress and offered more features and improvements has been dead since 2015, or 2013 if you're an Apple fan. Nowadays feature removals, subscription software, and forced changes are the way. Every phone looks the same with few game changers out there (Z Flip is the only unique phone I could get) and there's even less competition than there should be. There was room for Meego, WebOS, Android, iOS, and even Windows Phone. There's no reason there should only be two OSs and two OEMS left. Heck, even Tizen is gone now. I don't want to revisit Wear OS. It was bad enough the first time!

Heck, in regards to 'modern' UI design, Meego on the Nokia N9 still holds up! I wish I knew what happened there. That was in 2011 for crying out loud!
