Do You Text & Drive?

Yeah I'm a bit of an exception to the rule.

1.) I hit 50wpm on my samsung moment, so replies are rather fast.

2.) I drove a cab for 3 years during the latter portion of college(first degree), so I'm used to juggling tasks during driving, and I've driven in Chicago's worst for 3 years nearly 8 hours a day.

I grew up driving in L.A. and surrounding suburbs. It was interesting watching the whole thing change, it was (mumble) years ago, back when multitasking was driving while reading Burma Shave signs.

Texting while driving seems to me like reading the paper while driving; I'll never do it. I do admit to answering my phone while behind the wheel, though, that's bad enough.

Only at a stop light. Worst thing that can happen if I take too long, is that I hold up people behind me and look like an jerk.

Well, good on ya for keeping your foot on the brake while texting. ;)

Well its hard to text on a touchscreen while your actually driving. It was difficult enough with a hard QWERTY keyboard. I just say screw it, and if I need to talk to them, I'll put them on through the radio via my redneck handsfree device (cassette deck).

i'm guessing my post got deleted?

One of mine did too!?! WTF?

There is no law forbidding texting while driving where I live, so I do it if I need to. The other night I was shooting out a text when a racoon ran out in front of me. I was typing at the time and still saw the animal and slowed down to avoid it. If I didn't see him, the little mongrel would be roadkill right now. Pretty confident in my driving skills I am!!

On a side note to the guy who said it's more dangerous than drinking and driving, are you nuts!?!? Maybe you're more of a lush than me, but my driving skill are severely diminished after drinking, so I don't do it. EVER.

I tweeted about this the other day and got quite a few comments, (Filmed in Wales, UK) this video's been in the news in the USA, but they couldn't play it all... Check it out and you'll see why...

I definitely think it should be shown on TV, and in schools & colleges... If I used my mobile while driving, this would certainly put me off...

If you do, has watching this made you change your ways?

Good advice in that video. No texting while driving is important enough for you to risk the lives of yourself, family, friends and other innocent members of the public. STOP, park safely and then send the text.

This should be good..
