Doctor Who

Are we going to have another time lock on the Christmas special spoilers?
I would just say to use hide tags. Is there much need to go further than that?

Got about 5 hours until it airs here, I think that would mean that it's airing there right now?

Yeah, I dislike all of them to start with and it really has no bearing on how much I like them long-term. I especially disliked Tennant, because that was the first regeneration I saw, but now he's my favourite o date.

Absolutely outstanding.

Memory messed up, seen that on regenerations before.

I missed the first one ever, or don't recall it, but I just read that it's like 1963 all over again, can't fly the TARDIS.

I like the new Doctor.

Not quite up to Day of the Doctor (on a single viewing).

Spoilers:
Hell of a lot in there, trying to wrap up all the loose ends of Matt Smith's tenure and address the 12 regenerations thing as well, all in one hour, plus fit some jokes in. So perhaps not surprising I felt it might have benefited from a little editing. Can't fault the ambition though, and it gives Capaldi a clean start. Did find regeneration as a weapon a bit of a stretch, but will never complain about seeing Amelia & Amy (and that does give an explanation for the accent switch).

You can't tell much about a new Doctor from their first few seconds' appearance. DT's "new teeth" moment was great (and referenced here), but otherwise his and Matt's first appearances didn't make much of an impression on me. So shouldn't make too much of a judgment here, but Peter clearly is capable of doing manic energy. Waiting to see other aspects of the character, but I'm hopeful.

Be interesting to see how Clara (who has admitted to fancying Matt's incarnation) copes with the change.

Did anyone else besides me find TotD confusing? Guess I better watch it again and see what I missed the first time. Maybe it will make sense after a while.

Have faith. Every Whovian feels that way when their first doctor regenerates. You get used to it.

Yep, very true. I hated tenant at his first full episode, but after his second, I loved him. But Matt Smith, I enjoyed him the entire time, probably because I got use to the fact that the doctor changes.
So River didn't give him enough regeneration energy after all. Still not sure how that crack got there. And how did the crack move?

Well David spent most of his first full episode unconscious ;)

However, I think the moment he hooked me was "no second chances".

Well if we're doing that, how come Matt started to regenerate when River shot him the first time (Impossible Astronaut)? OK, in the final loop through time that wasn't him, but if the Silence were aware of the regeneration cycle they should have been expecting him to be unable to regenerate.

Sorry, I'll go get my anorak...

I heard November. But do not have a source.

I was basing that on previous years, so my assumption was incorrect. I've been seeing late August on Peter Capaldi's Facebook page, so it looks like we'll need even more patience than normal. Fortunately, I have a vast backlog of classic episodes on VHS (yes, I still have a VCR...) for my family to catch up on. I started in the eighties, but my wife only started with David Tennant and my daughter's first doctor is Matt Smith, so they have quite a bit to catch up on! Also, I have the Nick Jr app so Peanut (he's two) can watch Bubble Guppys while the main TV is playing grown up stuff.

I just read something that says autumn 2014 on the Doctor Who hub. That November date could very well be correct then.
