Root Does our version of WiFi work with the Bionic?

So I am running Velocity 1.0 and am using the WiFi that came with it. It is the only version of WiFi that I have seen work with the Nintendo Wii. So I am wondering will this version of WiFi work with the Bionic? The Bionic people pointed me to this version of WiFi

I tried this version out and as every other ad hoc..... it works with everything but the Wii. So Will our apk work with the Droid Bionic and in turn on the wii or is it taylor made for the Kernal in Velocity 1.0? Which if it is that means it would NEVER work on the Bionic seeing as they have a locked BootLoader. Does anyone have any input on this?
I just want to find A WiFi Tether that works on the Bionic and in turn works on the Wii like it does on our Ally's. The reason why is well That is the phone I want to upgrade to. Thanks in Advance guys.

If the updated google wifi tether app didnt work, then your going to have to have help with a dev look inside the firmware for a fix. We had this problem with a few tablets at ATF

Thanks for weighing in. I am still really curious if our Wireless Tether .apk will work on the Motorola Droid Bionic. It would be Awesome if it would. Like I said this is the ONLY version I have ever found that will work with the Wii.
And that is a big deal to my family because we use the Wii constantly for Netflix.

I am wanting to know because I am thinking of purchasing the Droid Bionic.

Its not the apk that makes the difference, its the combination between the wifi tether agent and the wpa supplicant file in your phone. ik the bionic has a wireless n adapter so the changes needed to be made may be different compared to whats on our device. I have the same worry but what happens happens. These apks were designed for our firmwares so if you were to take them on another device, you wont recieve the same results. For worse, better or nothing at all.
Ofcourse there are ways getting around this like networking your tethered device to your computer network and having a router reopen the nat and enternet connection for your console to find the device. (Which i have done before) but very difficult setup to explain.
I know i heard the results i didnt want to here when someone rooted their samsung stratusphere for me and tried barnicle and didnt get the results i was hoping for (which made me wait for a newer device or something better)

If this tells you anything, i rooted my fiances casio commando and installed the google wifi tether agent on it. My 360 picks it up just fine. It may also be your wiis wifi adapter so dont assume its the phone. All devices are different.

Well I have been talkin to the Bionic Guys. Hopefully one of those guys will try it for me to see if it works. If not Maybe I will ask GNM to cook one up for the Bionic. Cuz you know me and him are real tight. Ya ok no that was a lie. I dont think he knows I exist. LOL But I guess I could still ask him. :D

Like i said, the wpa supplicant needs redone on your device and that needs done by you, if you screw it up? You screw up your wifi driver. You dont need a modified wifi agent o.0
Gnm i dont believe takes "order outs" hence the death of gretel and velocity.

Yeah I kinda figured that about GNM. I just dont know really I wonder if the original creator of Wireless tether could do it?

The wii by default does not pick up ad-hoc networks. Didn't back when i had an ally. I had the same issue with my cr-48 running ChromeOS with ad-hoc networks as it didn't detect them.

Here's what i did to get the cr-48 to recongize the connection. Your miles me vary.

I would say get the latest wifi tether 3.0 apk. Go into it's settings. Choose "Change Setup-Method" Choose "Softap (master)". Then go ahead and start the tether.

Now with it in "Softap" none of my devices (laptop, cr-48 running arch linux, transformer) pick it up as an ad-hoc netowkr. It's seen as an regula network like the rest.

Now i have no idea if that'll be enough to get it working with an Wii. That's something that'll need to be tested
