Root Does root/ROM's affect coverage signal and/or OTA updates?

It's very rare that I get full bars on my Droid X and I live in a huge city. Depending on where I am, I usually get about 3-4 when indoors and maybe full if I'm out and about. I'm indoor most of the times and 3-4 doesn't cut it when it comes to downloading and browsing on the 3G network. So I'm curious if rooting and flashing a custom ROM will affect our network coverage. Seems like Sprint had WAY better network coverage than Verizon if the answer is no.

And are OTA updates still possible after flashing a ROM?

Not sure about your network coverage as this varies but for your ota question the answer is no you can't ota if your on a rom or have deleted system apps such as blockbuster city id ....etc ....your best bet is to make a backup right after you root but before you flash a rom so when an ota is available you restore your stock root backup and ota .....that backup is your way out ...if you don't have that backup you would have to apply the. 340 update zip then ota or sbf then ota

Don't know about anyone else but my x only has 4 bars :P. How many are you getting with "full" coverage?
