Does the Droid X run hot (like the Droid 1)?

Thinking about trading up from the Droid 1 to the Droid X. There are many reasons to do so but one that I'm wondering about is the CPU speed and heat generation.

My Droid gets very hot whenever I do anything CPU intensive - like browsing or using the GPS. With the GPS, I feel like I shouldn't keep it on more that 10 or 15 minutes to keep the Droid from melting!

The Droid X has a faster chip in it. Does that mean it runs cooler?

One review I read commented that the Doird X gets hot as well. Can anyone comment on this issue?

most newer phones get warm. the DX is no exception. however even overclocked my DX does not get as hot to the touch as mt D1 did overclocked.

Overall, I'd say the heat is cut in half, or better. It does get warm when using google navigation though .But it's much improved as far as heat compared to the D1.

True! Mine isn't overclocked though. It's great! A true upgrade in every way.

I'd say that's an accurate description.

Keep in mind, that a phone getting warm is generally a sign of it doing its job - taking the heat off the CPU and dissipating it into the air via the case. So heat is not necessarily a bad thing - it's certainly better than insulating the CPU and forcing it to run hot.

Finger lakes area is nice... I have some family out by Cayuga lake and the surrounding area.

yes..and combine this with charging at the same time mine did get above critical temp and started to discharge the battery...

Gets flat hot. Although I haven't noticed it as much lately, probably just because I don't push it as hard as when I first got it.

when I hardcore game, or have like 3 browser windows open at once with a pdf, yes it gets hot.

When on the phone for more than an hour with BT active, it gets hot under the battery (like every other phone I have ever used)

But normally, hard to tell without the indicator. even then mid 80's is high dependant on current room temp. (basic heat transfer, hot room = hot phone, cold room = cooler phone)
