Root done with ota gb.

Okay... the 'gliches' and lack of root are enough. To be honest, rooted and themed froyo (with apex transitions) was better. SBF back to. 340 ??? Is rooted gb really worth it? Admit that my quadrant score went from 1650 to 1900's.... but that's irrelevant really.....

Advice needed guys....

Btw .... I have no problems SBF ng ..... yet again ( thanks to Steven)

I would go with the rooted gb personally. The ota is just locked down and you can't do anything to it. Having the rooted 596 gives you more options.

im loving rooted GB on my phone, i was running rooted .596 for a while and had 0 issues with speed or reliability. Today i decided to try apex 2.0 RC1 and thats even better, sure i lose blurs home launcher, but this rom absolutely screams. Just for the fun of it I ran quadrant (not a great benchmarker but its whatever) and was getting about 2300 score, then when i enabled "turbo mode" i was getting 3500's (oc'ed to 1.35 ghz)

turbo mode is the quadreant falsifier (the quadrant cheat)

All things being equal..... I have issues with gb. Closing the browser with the - icon doesn't work.... k-9 mail is a slug.... browser has flickers .... is this solved in a rooted rom? I like blur enough for my use...

If they get rubix for gb I'll be back but for now I'm rocking darkslide. 595 and 596 sucked on my phone. Slow, laggy, 3g continuously came and went. I got tired of fooling with it. Im no big fan of froyo but I am a fan of a phone with everything in smooth working order and gb just don't get it done. Not for me anyhow.

thanks for the advice all. Does the rooting/theming of GB solve any of the issues aforementioned??

I now notice my Beautiful Widget clock only updates on the device after being turned back on (be it a minute or ten, i can see the time change from the last time the device was on)

cripes.

It's probably best if you do a factory reset. My BW clock has worked fine on all variants of GB, including the OTA ;)

You'll loose your data, but you can do an advanced backup restore and only restore data using CWR.

Basically make a backup of your setup now so you can restore your data after the factory reset.

It might be good if you wipe your cache while your at it. I always do a factory reset and wipe cache when applying a Rom/OS update, it helps prevent a lot of issues.

I can do this without root??

Try the new GB Liberty Rom. It's very fast and responsive and you can include or delete as much blur as you want from it. (I like a little blur in my rom.)

yeah, i need to get something in the works here. Guess root is a thing-of-the-past with the new GB. I think i will SBF back to 340, and try to install the pre-rooted leak again.

I really think you're going to get replies from all over because no two DX's are totally alike.

Me, I'm running the deodexed .596 from TBH and love it without any extra stuff running. Just plain old rooted Gingerbread!

I took the OTA,it stunk. Then SBF back to froyo to apply the TBH rooted .596. I just never liked it as much as froyo, also the battery life was substantially less, which is a big deal for me...so back to froyo, rooted and running the insanely fast rubix 2.0...

Back to 2.2.... rooted and overclocked/ndervolted. WAY better than the ota. With a gingerbread theme on 2.2 with apex animations ..... why bother. Thanks big red for nothing.
