Verizon or as its known....verizarape....may be monsters. But they have good service. I got virgin mobile android and this fone suckssssssssss......

I have decided it is beter to spend all ur money on verizons bills and not eat. Than to eat and put up witth the bs of crappy fones :-(

I was with Virgin Mobile for 5 years before switching to T-Mobile, and i have nothing but good things to say about them. Great customer service, and coverage. (in my area at least.)

Yes they don't have the best phones, but it's expected since they are a budget friendly carrier. I recommend them to anyone that's looking for a mid range phone, with great prices. You definitely don't want to switch to Virgin Mobile if you're looking for the latest and greatest phones.

Why is my fone suck so much at browsing? I get caught in endless load circles. Its not a bad fone...800mhz 512mb ram...wifi is 4mbps....tried factoy reset....opera browser....one touch cache cleaning....:-(

lololololol...I swear, I'm working to pay my Verizon bill...but man, the service is great

Sento, has it occurred to you that your phone maybe defective? Take it back and see if that helps. If you do, let us know. I for one haven't had a single problem so far.

So there ARE people who have had good experiences with the Triumph? My Verizon contract runs out next month and I so want to jump to Virgin Mobile. The Triumph looks so inviting - until I read all of the lousy reviews interspersed with someone who loves it. Is it all location or is there something specific to look for when buying this phone?

The reviews for the Triumph pretty much speak for themselves. OpV is your best bet. Yes, location plays a major roll in reception. My OpV and the Intercept I gave my kids both have the same reception in my house.

The only reception issue I have with my Triumph is the same with others on the Sprint network, no reception at work (center of the first floor at a hospital) . The Verizon guys get reception everywhere, but don't believe that my bill is only $25. ;)

That is one thing I can say about Verizon. Their connectivity is majorly awesome and especially nice if you're traveling around the US. If you depend on your phone and are with VM, I don't recommend traveling.

I was in (kind of)a similar position you are/were in! Anyways maybe a little different but i was debating for a no contract company. Metro vs virgin. I dont use a lot of mins and 50$ is high for coverage like that. So after it was virgin vs tmo. Tmos $30 plan wont let you change your plan BACK to it if you decide to upgrade one month for more than 100 mins. Can u believe that? And who knows with that merger

And so i have the triumph. I love this phone. I love the 4.1 screen, the stock android, the overall external appeal too. The 1ghz processor is great too.. definitely stepping this up for the prepaid market or on vms line up. A lot of people got issues with it but i dont. This is a great phone it doesnt try to be "latest and greatest". An android phone is an android phone so unless youre one of the power users where every detail and spec matter, this phone u will appreciate more and more every day for its value!!! Phones on other carries seem to be irrelevant within 2 or 3 months anyway when your phone is just left in the dust and every1 else is dropping extra cash to upgrade

Hopefully VM will get a reasonable android phone with a typical'ish sized display and moderate processing power(similar to the triumph) that is problem free. Until then this Optimus V is going to hold me over.

I'm taking my current Verizon bill of $180 a month(2 phones, 1400 minutes shared) down to $90 total for 1200 minutes per phone. I can deal with losing signal occasionally for almost $100 a month.

I haven't had any issue with VM for years, starting with the cheap phones and now up to the V. Sure, some places the signal is not full, but for the price of the plan, I knew that anyway. I don't live on my phone so it's not an issue.
Over the summer I traveled from Wisconsin to Arizona and everywhere in between. Only noticed a completely dead signal 2 times, and one was when I was in the middle of nowhere in AZ/CO. I was pleasantly surprised at that, as I didn't expect to have that good reception throughout the trip.

There's nothing wrong with the triumph

Put CM7 on it and all issues are fixed

I am currently a Sprint customer & they have great service all over the US. However, I want a newer phone & refuse to spend my pay on service so I am researching either Straight talk or Net10. And will get the Samsung Precedent or the LG Optimus Net.
Any & all opinions welcome of either of those services & phones.

While that is a great idea for people willing to root & ROM their phone, it still proves that Motorola & Virgin Mobile should update the software for the phone.

Those two sentences contradict one another.

As I stated in another thread, if you have to add a custom rom to a phone in order to "fix" issues with it, that's a huge red flag that screams "DANGER WILL ROBINSON, DANGER!"

So sorry you feel like that about VM..
So far I have been with VM for aboutr 3 months and I have nothing but good to say about the service.
I am a bit dissapointed I cannot buy just about any phone (unlocked) and make it VM compatible, but I have a very good phone now, an LG Optimus V that does what it's supposed to do and more...

Buy a good phone on craigslist and flash it to virgin mobile.

Please explain... Is "Flashing" a phone after rooting it the same thing as buying an unlocked phone and making it work with VM?
I really do not want to mess with rooting, I am just curious...

Flashing means installing a custom rom. Think of it like having Windows 95 on your computer and then upgrading to Windows 7. Same thing. You're just upgrading the Android OS so that you can have more options, added functionality, and a smoother running OS. Of course, some people prefer staying with the same Android version and will merely install another flavor of the same. However, in order to install a custom rom you have to root first (unrooted = Guest account, rooted = Admin rights).

You're not going to be able to buy an unlocked phone and make it work with VM. Upon searching, most of the good phones I found that were unlocked were GSM (which do not work on a CDMA network). Perhaps there are some CDMA unlocked ones, but I didn't find any in my rushed search.

Hope that made sense.
