Dorimanx kernel - Dummies Guide

Guys, which kernel would you prefer for LSJ?
Jeboo, Siyah or Dorinmanx?
Currently on Jeboo.

Your asking this in a Dorimanx kernel thread :what::D

For me latest Dorimanx is amazing.

Performance and speed and the colours and contrast is awesome on stock profile and settings. :)

There is higher screen on battery drain and with wifi.

Sound crackling issues may happen from time to time but can be fixed by applying AFTR as both sleep and screen on cpu idle frequency. But all this doesn't bother me.

Preload folder not backed up but you can use Hawkers scripts to do a backup and restore of this. :)

If not acceptable to you then use jeboo 1.1c or 1.1f rebase version.

I tried Jeboo, but had a very bad experience (should give it another go really). Am trying Dorimanx now, so waiting for results. Siyah was good for me, but not great.

Well, I've been on Dorimanx 7.43 for 4 days now and I'm finding it great! :dancing2:

Used in conjunction with NEAT ROM LSJ, this offering from Dorimanx has proved its worth.

On extreme_battery profile with BLN enabled, it gives me, easily, my desired benchmark of 28 hours, moderate/normal, use.

Deep Sleep overnight is circa 94%, (I'm wasteful). Average battery drain per hour overnight is around 1.3%. l2_hsic wakelock has been reduced to 0.7%.

No freezes or lags either. Scrolling is slick and fast and very smooth.

Al-in-all, this has become my new, favourite, JB, LSJ, kernel.

Now I need Dorimanx to get to work on the JB, LS8, kernel. :D

AND behold, when armageddon comes. ironass himself will post comments about battery life, unsolicited though they may be....Anti Christ cometh :D ;)

Let me be first this time ;) 7.44 ready for download DORIMANX'S ANDROID KERNEL MIRROR

Oh... do behave Twinn!

You just can't get the staff these days!

Would you like me to put the important stuff in? ;)

Dorimanx kernel 7.44

"NO SUPPORT FOR NEW OFFICIAL JB ROM! (XXLS8)
but will be soon

Change Log:

*Fixed front camera FC after 3~6 picks, now works 100%
*Tuned Kernel for better NET speeds, more RAM allocated.
*Tuned kernel with some Samsung Kernel defaults to gain more fluid operation.
*Voku made so much work!:
1)Update the lowmemkill function to work with different values on screen on and off for oom service. also new controls in STweaks MEM tab.
2)Updated Sched Core code with fixes to cpu stats and operations. from 3.8.y
3)Added KSM with allot of tuning and coded it in to cortex wake/sleep functions
we still testing it, it's OFF by default.
In short KSM merge common used memory to allow apps to share same RAM blocks and free RAM for others to use.
4)Ported Writeback function to change the daemon write timeouts based on screen on/off
5)Updated to 3.0.60 Main Stream patch.
6)Removed more debug functions that we dont use.
7)Ported string code update that allowed to get rid of old code for that.
8)Ported code for NET that reduce CPU usage for NET functions.
9)Tuned Touch freq function to check if there is need for CPU freq boost before actually boosting.
10)Many Kernel engine tuning done by Voku
*Alucard made a lot of changes in nightmare cpu gov.
*Alucard removed all govs rights to control CPU cores (on/off)
including luzactive, pegasusq, nightmare.
Now CPU cores ON/OFF controlled by stand_hotplug code that control HYPER and all others with great manage.
this will be like that till we can merge functions from stand_hotplug to hotplug govs to allow them to work good as global manager.
Some STweaks hotplug options removed for now. all by auto now.
*We have fixed SODS on scrolling and SMS typing, bug found and removed.
*I have added new CPU MAX bar in STweaks, now we have 2
One for 100Mhz to 1200Mhz by 50Mhz step
and new one "OC" from 1200Mhz to 1600Mhz by 100Mhz Steps
so now no more "BUG" reports that user can set 1250Mhz, it's not exist in kernel. Please READ the OC instruction in STweaks!
*I have added more DATA + CACHE partition protection now check and fix partition errors on boot, this is default in all other kernels and ROMS.
*Now Cortex script is even more SMART, it's will not run awake or sleep function if screen was OFF for 1~4sec then ON, so this will prevent not needed works and system retuning by cortex wast functions.
*Cortex now wait longer on Screen OFF before starting to reduce power usage, this should allow music player not to shutter on playback.

important request, tune Stweaks profile from "My Config" (default settings in profile that you like) to yours or leave it as is.
Just dont RESTORE old config.

after full tuning save your config and it's good to be used again if you reset.

That could mean major problems with restoring existing nandroids then.
21.jpg

If you restore a previous nandroid, you will be restoring the previous kernel and settings... so, no problem.

Been trying 7.44 since late last night when it was released but it's been a bit hit and miss for me (seems slightly better battery wise, but wifi not always coming on and a couple of random reboots), so reverting back to 7.43 for now as so far this has been the best version to date in terms of overall performance and stability.

Amended changelog for Dorimanx kernel 7.44.

Kernel 7.44 All included ONLINE!

After a lot of testing and tuning, we made this

Is there anything specific that you've done to reduce the l2_hsic wakelock, or is this thanks to the kernel?

The kernel certainly helps but the biggest thing you can do is to experiment with Fast Dormancy enabled/disabled.

Type into your dial pad... *#9900# and you will see the, "SysDump", menu where you can either enable or disable FD. Test each state for at least 24 hours to see which, if any, gives the lowest wakelock. FD affects only 3G/H/H+ signals.

Is anyone else getting a high overnight drain on Dorimanx v7.44?

The first overnight I experienced a high battery drop, I just assumed that it was the battery re-calibrating after flashing NEAT LS8. Deep Sleep seemed OK'ish.

The second night was the same though. 5hrs 13 min's with a 39% drop!!! :ahhhhh:

I couldn't decide if it was NEAT LS8 or Dorimanx. So I flashed PhilZ v4.00b22 on and in 5 hours the drop was 7%.

I Managed, With Complete Default Settings(Not even Gentle Fair sleeper), To Get A Battery drain Of 0.7% Per Hour, With Wifi Still On, Infact The Only Thing I Had Changed from Normal Use Was I Put It On Silent!

Cheers sntaylor!

It was weird because I was getting good battery life with Dorimanx v7.44 until I ran the overnight tests. I'm fairly wasteful with my battery in that I always have Wi-Fi, sync and location on and therefore expect a drain of about 1 -> 1.5% per hour overnight.

No Problem, I Did Have Sync Off But Otherwise I Did Nothing To The Settings On Dorimanx, And I Had Neat Lite, Can't Remember If I Was On 4.1 Or .2.

Def Sound Weird That Your Getting Such High Drain Though!

I Won't Be Able To Do Any More Drain Tests For A Week Or So Though, As Baby Is Coming 4 Weeks Early, Tomorrow Afternoon.Lol

Oh dear, the end is nigh. We won't expect to see you on here for a good few months then

Good luck for tomorrow sntaylor!

Don't believe all this new man propaganda stuff about being present at the birth. You'll just get yelled at, sworn at, told that conjugal rights are not an option in future, scratched, punched and kicked.... and that's only by the midwife!

No.... far better to let the professionals get on with their job unhindered and, reluctantly I'm sure, follow the time honoured tradition of waiting in the pub, where your mates can support you and offer something to steady your nerves and where you are ideally placed to, "wet the baby's head". ;)

Lol I Wish, sadly Waters Broke On Thursday And Baby Is Breach, So Its A Section she Is Having, Hence I Know When :-P

I Will Of Course Be On Here From Time To Time, But Currently My Main Objective Is Ensuring I Have A working Camera On My Phone :-P

Cheers For The Wishes ThoughMaybe I Should Have Started Another Thread Instead :-P

Dorimanx Kernel 7.45 All Included is up! :)

"Change Log:

*Updated with 3.0.61 Main Stream Patch.
*Fixed Volume boost by GM for all ROMS.
*Fixed CronTab Scripts activation.
*Updated CORE functions from 3.8.RC5, but still a lot more to update
CPU performance little better.
*Enabled Auto Group Scheduling + updated to MAX from 3.8.RC5
*Updated ROOT (SuperSU to ver 1.0) + check that will install new version by auto if you have the old one. and auto install root is checked in STweaks!
*Alucard Made changes and tuning to Nightmare GOV + Profiles tuning.
*Pulled all last changes for INIT BOOT from CM10.1 Kernel for CM10.1 ROM.
*Pulled all last changes for INIT BOOT from Original JB Sammy Kernel for JB Sammy ROM.
*Found some Bugs in INIT script and Cortex and fixed.
*Added Check and Fix all SDCARDS on each boot! now we can have clean files all the time, and sdcards will mount as should. (no errors!)
*Now users that like to jump from kernel to kernel and using JB Sammy ROM
not have to Reset Home Key in STweaks before installing Other kernel! all you need to do, is restart to RECOVERY! and install any other kernel.
this will fix the Home Key for Default JB Sammy Kernel + ROM. or you can push the button, and install kernel via ODIN.
*Allowed to mod WIFI MAC address! by edit file /efs/wifi/.mac.info when WIFI is OFF! then when you will turn it ON, new MAC from that file will be used!
if you want to get the old MAC, delete that file, and reboot.
any way! write down your device MAC just in case you need it later. this is for people that NEED that and KNOW what they are doing!
*I have modded WIFI driver to reduce IPv4 traffic on suspend. so now wifi driver will save more battery. tested, and didnt see any high drain. (IPv6) is off by default on suspend.
*Pulled UMP driver (video related) from JB Kernel and merged with our.
*Reverted change to touch freq boost code, maybe related to freeze with CM10.1 ROMS and others. need to TEST.
*Updated to LINARO 12.12 GCC 4.7.3 Kernel Builder.
*Voku ported Network optimization code to reduce cpu usage when using ipv4 network traffic.
*Voku also ported updates to CORE and PM code.

Just tried to update to 7.45 (doing all the usual steps I've done with previous versions without issues) but it locks on DorimanX logo and won't go any further, so having to switch back to 7.43 for now (7.44 boots but I have random shutdown on that)

Anyone else had issues with 7.45?

Did you use the kernel wipe in post #1?
