Root Down grading my PRI??

first i flashed the S-ON file then ran the PC36IMG.zip one thats big 202megs it wouldnt root so i ran the other PC36IMG.zip (3.33 megs) that fixes the boot loader my hboot is 2.10.0001 which its always been, ran unrevoke now im rooted :) why i unroot? i wanted to start out clean since i was having problems, if that makes sence? lol

Fair enough. A clean slate never hurt anyone. What PC36IMG.zip did you flash in the first place? There must have been something wrong with it, or it was a bad download maybe. What PC36IMG.zip did you flash to fix it? Once you've got s-on and have unrooted, there's not much you can flash to fix things like that. That's why I'm wondering.

Anyway, I assume what you mean by those steps is you're going to flash RA recovery, then partition your card and apply a2sd? I don't see any problem with that, except you'll need to be on a custom ROM to use a2sd.

first i flashed the S-ON so it reads S-ON in the bootloader up top, then rebooted to home screen then open disk drive then copy over the PC36IMG.zip its 202megs big where in bootloader you have to say YES to update etc,etc, then rebootedback on home screen, then ran unrevoke.exe... i got that error saying is your firmware to new?! so i open disk again and copy over the other PC36IMG.zip then you told me to do when i had bootloader problem, ran that it fixed it, then re ran unrevoke.exe and it rooted..
yes im gonna flash RA so i have Amon Ra instead of clockwork. once i flash Amon RA i'll do a backup first, (should i backup those google ones also) where you put a X next to what you want to backup?

then once im backed up i'll flash a ROM then do the partitioning and a2sd if i can find that flash and link to it? lol ... so much mess on my laptop cant fine anything hahaha
 
1) Where did you get those PC36IMG.zip files from? If you open the smaller one, what do you see inside?

2) You don't need to backup the google options in RA.

3) A2sd is pretty easy to find (in the thread you linked to yourself) in case you can't find it. Keep in mind that a lot of custom ROMs already have it built in, so there might be no need to flash it.

I totally know where you're coming from with too much junk, though, hehe. I really need to clean out all the junk I've accumulated.

1. PC36.zip inside it has, android-info.txt and recovery.img <- repairs the bootloader
2. ok dont backup google stuff
3.i'm gonna use same rom from miks the newest beta, like i said lastnight in spare parts it had that option cache/delvak blah blah if i checked marked it
 
Interesting. I guess it's a moot point now, but did you check what recovery you had after unrooting (supposedly successfully?) and after flashing that PC36IMG.zip? I have no way of knowing what recovery that was that you flashed :).

its clockwork v2.6.0.1 i havent done anything else yet IE flash to Amon RA yet, im sitting here deciding what to do LOL its just rooted is all with stock :p

DUMB question here :D after i have all flashed etc.etc, when i use disk drive to open up cells sdcard can i make a folder named ROMS then cut the rom thats on sdacrd and put it in that folder? then inside the ROMS folder make another folder named Kernals and do the same cut the kernal file and put it inside Kernal folder? just so everything is organized YEA i have OCD ROFL...

I have everything organized in a similar fashion to the way you're describing it. Yes, you can create a folder on your PC named "Android" or "Evo Stuff" or whatever you'd like it to be named, and keep all the ROM's zip's, kernels, flashable mods, tweaks, etc. in that folder on your PC.
 
Mine is called Special_Ed ;)

occasionally I will need to move things to the root of the sd card ...easily moved to and fro with a file manager like astro, root explorer or es file explorer

Yes, you can do that. You just have to ask yourself how much you need to keep on your card. I usually keep the flashable zip of my current ROM and kernel on the card. The rest I keep on my computer. The system doesn't need them anymore after you've flashed, so put them where ever you want. If you need to flash them again, you'll just need to browse for them in recovery, first, if you've moved them off the root of the card. Any version of CW and and the latest version of RA have the ability to do so.

EDIT: Lol. Great name for a folder.

No i meant on the disk card on the cell, once you plugin cell choose disk drive then you can see all your files from pc, im wondering if i can make a folder named ROMS and right click choose CUT and put it in that folder, instead of having flashable zips all over your scard.. have all ROMS in that 1 folder, then inside that folder make another folder named kernals then put all your kernals in that folder.

Yep, that's basically what my reply was. I used to do that, myself, but I found that I almost never used them. Now I just put them all on my computer except for the current ROM and kernel.

SIGH........ i dont know what ROM i want to use :confused: i like miks ROMS but once i load beta i know the finale will be out this weekend sometime, and i want to be able to change the clock to a clearer one so i can load some nice wallpapers, i just dont like that black of that clock covers wallpaper, plus i dont want to lose the SENCE of the phone either i like the animated clouds or whatever weather is at that time when you come out of sleep mode :)
 
There are a bunch of different skins for the sense clock (make sure you stick with either the normal sense clock or the flip clock depending on which one you have flashed). You can also dump that and use something like beautiful widgets. It can also do the unlock weather animation.
 
Hmmm. was doing nandroid backup... got an error saying " ops something was wrong" check log file.... where is that in recovery? i rebooted open disk i dont see that log file i see a folder called nandroid, i opened the folders up i see boot.img cache.img data.img recovery.img system.img and winmax.img

Did you select sd-ext without having first partitioned your card? That's the most common way to get that error. As for the recovery.log, I forget exactly where it is, but there's an option in recovery to copy the recovery.log to the sdcard. You have to do it while still in recovery after getting the error, though.

You're using RA Recovery, right? When you attempted to perform your nandroid backup, did you have [ ]sd_ext, and [ ] android_secure checked?

i didnt partition the card yet, i just went into recovery and clicked on backup/restore chose backup check marked what i wanted after it was backing up at end got that error, i can move the log to sd it says.

Right, so what all did you check to backup? Did you select sd-ext? If you did, that's your problem. If not, try again, then find the option in recovery to copy the recovery.log to the sdcard.

Ok, so when you backup, don't select sd-ext until you actually have partitioned the sdcard, otherwise it will error out when it gets to sd-ext. It does so because there is no partition there to backup. What version of RA is this again? The new RA 2.3 beta will just skip it rather than error out.
