Root Downgrade & Root issues

Yeah, you can't install ClockworkMod without S-OFF. Once that's done, it should work.

when attempting to S-Off when I run

Open my "Desire HD easy radio tool.exe" (Windows 7, right click & run as administrator), choose the first option, click "Do it"! There may be a SuperUser request on your phone, allow it.
Done. (Remember to click the thanks button)

I dont get anything coming up on the phone asking me to allow it so not sure if it runs right ? I select the top option on the tool and it says successful but when i power off and hold down the power button it just boots up and tries running the file 1.32 PD98IMG.zip again and I get the blue bar up the side ? any ideas

cheers

Delete the PD98IMG.zip from your zip card, then try it again, that should work.

You might not get the SuperUser prompt as it may be configured to allow everything. When you're in the bootloader, do you notice if it says "ACE PVT ENG S-OFF" at the top of the screen?

will check tonight al let you know, cheers

Or superuser might be set to block it. Open up the app and make sure its not set to deny anything.

I get the same problem with my Three UK DHD. It's software number is 2.50.405.2 (build number CL87995 release-keys).

Any idea what the problem is?

EDIT: Tried everything again and I went for the manual way to downgrade. After step adb shell /data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.31.405.3 I get an error message saying "patching and backing up partition 17. error opening backup file".

I think this is the reason why the update fails. Any idea why I am getting an error opening the backup file?

Still having the same problem with the error opening backup file. I've tried another sd card with the same result.

Strangely, if I use the manual way to find the MMC2 reverse CID it gives a completely different number to the goldcarder helper app. This happens on both the microsd cards I have tried.

Anyone able to make any suggestions?

Are both cards formatted to FAT32?

I'm also sure I got that error message, but I still got the #. Does it just hang after that error?

Yeah both FAT32.

If I try the next step (adb reboot bootloader) the phone reboots etc but after trying to install I get the ""Main Version is older! Update Fail!"" error.

managed to get the S-OFF but anytime using clockworkmod recovery and trying to install a rom I get the red triangle with the exclamation mark ? tried searching the google but couldn't find a answer that fits my problem?

thanks as always

Hi All,

First up i would like to thank Cubz for writing up the downgrading guide. Unfortunately like Zzchesss i've hit a "Main version is older" brickwall.

Basically everything goes well thru to the bootloader screen, the patching blue bar completes, the gold checking bar completes, however after that it says:

Main version is older
Patch fail
Press power to reboot

My version is 2.50.178.4 CL91002

Type everything in cleanly and still the same. I've included an attachment.

You've not rooted, you've skipped that part of the process by the looks of things.

You need to attain temp root with these commands

Code:
adb push fre3vo /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/fre3vo
adb shell /data/local/tmp/fre3vo -debug -start FBB00000 -end FFFFFFFF

Then if you see a "#" on the command line, enter the below:

Code:
adb push misc_version /data/local/tmp
adb shell chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/misc_version
adb shell /data/local/tmp/misc_version -s 1.31.405.3
adb reboot bootloader

Hey guys.

I dont mean to be a no post user wanting help. But only got my DHD afew weeks ago and am now attempting (although very poorly) to root.

I get stuck right at the start. When it attempts to root through CMD it searches through and just stops at FFF7000. and bring up a new line. no # no $.

Heres some copypasta
Code:
C:\DHDDowngrade>adb shell /
FFFFF
fre3vo by #teamwin
