So whenever we download apps from the market it places a downloadfile.apk in the cache? and then every file after that just adds a number like downloadfile.apk(1), (2), etc.? So in theory I can clear the cache, not download anything and I won't have that file reappear in my cache?

Yes, also remember that your cache partition is so large that having 50 of those files wouldnt even mess with performance!

So it was like a "placebo" I thought they were affecting my performance but they weren't. Ok, Thanks.
