Downside to purchasing through Wirefly?

Just recieved and email from Wirefly saying the Evo I ordered last week should ship within a week let's hope so!!

Also thanks to the Wirefly reps in the forum for helping make sure the phone doesn't activate over my current number before I return home from Mexico! You guys have been very helpful!

I wanted to let everyone know that we’ve raised the amount of our Bing Cashback credit up to $50 again, but only for a very limited time. The DROID X should be a pretty good pick up after Bing CB....

So currently wirefly is taking 3-4 weeks to ship. If I find it locally before that can I cancel my order?

Based on my last week and half of searching, I seriously doubt I'll find it locally before then, ha.

It said 2-3 weeks when I ordered mine but it actually shipped the same day as the order was placed. Couldn't believe it. Got the phones within 5 days.

in the bay area a couple of sprint corporate stores (milpitas & sunnyvale) told me yesterday that they expected to have it back in stock either today Friday or by Monday. If they're receiving shipments other stores may as well.

That may be true (when they'll have them in stock) but you will wait months for the rebates from sprint. I had mine in my hands 7 days after ordering it from wirefly for $189.99 out of pocket $109.99 after bing cash back no tax no freight.

that was a good deal no doubt, just like the bluefish wireless deal for $100 out of pocket, but they're both irrelevant at the moment as they're no longer available. You can't get the phone for that price now and you have to wait 2-3 weeks, not 7 days. If you need a phone now you go to a store and yes you'll pay more.

On wirefly, it says google users get free next day shipping. Does that mean I would get the evo in 1 business day?

It would be next business day shipping, and due to the extreme popularity of this phone that we advise all customers that the phone will ship 2-3 weeks after the order is placed.

oh. ok. Thank you. I'm definitely ordering though wirefly. Bing Cash back makes it so much cheaper!

i ordered mine on the 4th when it said ships within 2-3 weeks with the $80 bcb promotion and it shipped today.

i cant wait to get it so wirefly is staying true to there estimate just under 2 weeks.

My Evo shoud be here on Wednesday. I order mine last Wednesday(14th) and at the time is said to allow 3-4 weeks. Only 1 week from the order date is pretty good and I'm pleasantly surprised.

so my charging port was going out and my screen was raised (I had posted about breaking my screen a few weeks back and I took my phone to sprint and the person there said the only reason my screen cracked was because the glass wasn't properly secured and it was more vulnerable. I was THEN told that they could have replaced it if I had gotten it directly from sprint. THEN I tried to get Wirefly to replace it and had the go around for a few weeks and then suddenly i was past my 30 day period (go figure...) and then they told me they would replace it but I would either have to pay the full price of the phone (so i don't know what the benefit would be) or I would have to pay a $250 deposit just to get it shipped out to me. . . That is a bunch of bull $}{!T seeing as how it was a defective phone. This whole time I thought that I wasn't being gentle enough and then low and behold sprint tells me that it's a manufacturer's defect. All in all I regret ever dealing with Wirefly. i will never recommend them to a friend or family member. Hell I wouldn't even recommend them to an enemy.

jmp, can you send me a PM with your order number? I would like to investigate what the "go around" was that you are referring to and see if we can make things right.

So I received my EVO from wirefly today, 7/20 which is great, but they are telling me it won't be activated until 7/22.... What's the point of having the phone if I can't use it?

Is there any way I can get it activated sooner? I called wirefly customer service and they are saying I just have to wait for 2 days...

sorry if this has been answered, as i have searched and can't find it exactly, but can anyone who ordered from RadioShack online tell me how long it took them to receive it?
It seems people reading in this thread have ordered from BB and RadioShack as well as Wirefly.
Thanks,
John

You should expect RadioShack.com cell phone orders to have about the same turnaround as Wirefly, which is pretty good. They are both run by the same company.

I ordered two phones from Wirefly on 7/9 when it said "ships in 2-3 weeks" and received them on 7/20. Not bad... however I have a problem.

I've seen more than a handful of reports about screen separation issues and light leakage from the bottom of the screen, and I was disappointed to find that one of my handsets suffers from this problem. The lower edge of the screen is sitting slightly higher than the phone bezel and you can see spots of light coming through.

I could live with that (and using a case will block it) however there's also a problem with the 'home' button on the bottom; there's an obvious defect on the circle outline - the bottom has a tiny gap, and when the buttons are lit up, there's a pinhole sized spot that's very visible and bright allowing light through when it shouldn't. The second phone, on the other hand, looks absolutely perfect with none of these issues. Screen is flush, no light leakage, buttons are perfect. Time will tell if it holds up.

There's obviously a quality control issue from HTC's end and it has NOTHING to do with Wirefly, as I'm sure all big retailers are getting hit with returns of these devices. Hopefully they will put some pressure on HTC to resolve this problem. I can't say for sure how widespread the screen problems are, but a quick search of the web turns up many reports of this.

Now I get to go through the Wirefly return process, which I don't anticipate will be a problem. The only issue is that there's an estimated 3-4 week delivery of the replacement. I've heard this before, but want to confirm: are Wirefly replacement phones BRAND NEW? I don't want a refurb or opened box - I'm buying a new phone.

My order was approved and awaiting stock as of 7/11. The website showed 2-3 week estimate when I ordered which was fine. I received an e-mail from wirefly on 7/13 saying my order would ship out within one week. Now it is 7/21 and I am being told that it will be 2-3 more weeks. I don't mind waiting but I do mind being run around. Inches away from canceling my order.
