Root Drod's 1.5 Overclock

MCPO117

Well-Known Member
Been running this for a little over an hour and I've been trying to overload it but it seems pretty stable. Also ran a quadrant and got 2516. Fastest its ever been by far. These devs are quick and good.

Sorry I guess were to get it would have been helpful. It's in Rom manager under the MrBobrowitz downloads.

Man... I wanna try this but.jesus: runnin the perfect storm rom now with 1.8 kernal and everything is so snappy already. Shhesh, do i wanna sacrafice a bit of battery for even faster speed? My my my...

Overclock is stable @ 1.5GHz. Ran a stress test for 10 minutes and no errors. No hanging, no FC's of any kind when opening or running apps, applying skins, etc.

Clocked it to various frequencies and these are the approximate results for 3 tests performed at each interval.

@ 1.0GHz - between 1900 and 2000

@ 1.1GHz - between 1900 and 2150

@ 1.2GHz - between 2000 and 2200

@ 1.3GHz - between 2100 and 2300

@ 1.4GHz - between 2200 and 2500

@ 1.5GHz - between 2250 and 2550 (2550 was the actual highest score I saw)

Edit: This testing was all done while set to "on-demand" with the following SetCPU parameters:

Sampling Rate: 32000
Up Threshold: 50
Ignore Nice Load: 0
Powersave Bias: 0

One last note: Burned through 16% of my battery life in 25 minutes...yikes! LOL

Thats understandable you were running back to back quadrants. That is going to take a hit on your battery life. Plus running at 1.5 for an extended period of time will kill your battery. That is why setcpu is great you can run it at those speeds for like the first 30% then have a profile to lower it to conserve a little battery, thats what i do on my Incredible.

Sorry 2 step in, oversaw the forum to get the kernel, dumb question (happened with other devices ive had but can't remember how I fixed it) everything in Rom Mgr is empty after i click the dev. Is there a quick fix im forgetting?

Did you re-download the ROM Manager "Premium" app from the market as well? I believe that downloading ROMs, kernels, and extras is only available in the premium version of ROM Manager.

I wish ROM manager had a single "free" version of the app and a single "paid" version so you don't have to download both of them...but that is not the case unfortunately (although not a huge deal).

Titanium backup does the same sort of thing but implements it in a better way. You simply copy the license file to the sdcard and TiB automatically reads it. RM prob does the same sort of thing but with the paid version of the app being the license file.

You can download most of the stuff from the free app. There are only a couple of devs that are listed under the "premium" part. I flashed Adryns' kernel with the free app.

This kernel is super stable for me. And amazingly fast. The little bit of lag there was between certain menus and other random little quirks have gone away. I was running a kernel that was released for 1.62 ghz and that was rock solid, nothing wrong. Anyone know how high this thing can go and still stay stable?

Speaking of that, it's a shame Verizon doesn't have a G2 variant! Where the hell is the Merge? LOL

OT...sorry LOL

Right ? I know a lot of people who would have loved to have the Merge , and I know there were actually a few Merges that sold on Ebay that were hooked up to Verizon . I wonder if they just decided to kill that phone off before it was even out??

LOL...It was seen at CTIA this year but we had seen hands on videos from one or two sources (I believe Droid-Life) back in late summer/early fall. Haven't heard too much about it since then though. No release information or even a carrier announcement (that I know of) at CTIA.

dammit! i wish there was somewhere else to download it... i refuse to use rom manager. :(

edit:
with a lil searching :D

oops, heres a mediafire link i dint notice before in post #10 of the same thread:

its terrible i had to infiltrate another forum to get a download link, lol

I tried it twice. It rebooted my phone when I tried to answer a call the first time. I tried again today, ran an hour long stress test and it completed perfectly. Call came in, answered fine, hung up call and it rebooted.
This was on perfect storm rom and drods 1.5 kernel.

i ran it for a few hours last night with perfect storm, cranked all the way up. i also got a 2500 on a benchmark, and some pretty decent up/download speeds.

i had the same issue... got a call, swiped down to anser it,and bam! reboot and 16% less battery when it came back up  i made a call and it was fine, but that was the only call i received while on it.

i flashed das_bamf last night and havet flashed any kernals yet. ill leave it set at 1.2 with the das kernel for the day before tryin something else.

i did notice adrenalynes kernal us up to v1.9 if youre not interested in OC

Hmmm I have the 1.8 Drod posted on his twitter and none of those issues. I'm also running perfect storm. I would try his 1.8 kernel as I never saw those issues. I did have that problem on my DX though and it ended up being the rom.

link please? ive searched thru his tweets and couldnt find it. :( ill certainly give it a shot if i can find it.

as far as it being the rom,i recieved several calls prior to flashing the kernal and no reboots.

Well, I put Drods 1.5 back in again, only at 1.4,...will see how this goes. Made 1 call to the phone and it worked fine...

Heres hoping.....
