DROID Bionic And Accessory Bundle Costco Discussion Thread (Including Q&A from YankeeDudeL)

Looks like I will have to send someone else from work and push court to second call so I can be at the store right at 9. If I get a membership it says they will email me a member number within 48 hrs and a card within 7-10 days. I am assuming I can use the number to purchase?

Yeah, I really should have multiquoted, but whatever. Anyway, just a heads up to fuel the Sept. 8 release date fire. We were told to expect the pallets of Bionic and accessories to arrive any day now by our people. Talked to the GM of our Costco store and told him to expect it. He turned to one of the Costco employees saying that was the email he told him about, and where they were going, etc.

BTW, it wouldn't be a pallet if it weren't for the accessories. Otherwise, it's just a couple of boxes. ;)

Oh, I do remember someone asking if they'd be OEM quality. Whenever Costco has done this in the past (the OG Droid and the Fascinate I know had about the same deal), they were all OEM.

Wow, really? I got my card that day. So has everyone I've ever known. So I'm not sure on this one.

That's only if you buy your Membership online. If you go straight to the Membership desk inside Costco you get your card right then and there.

Ok, looks like I need to clear some things up about the return policy. You have 14 days to get used to the phone. If you're not satisfied with it, return your phone, and we'll be happy to exchange it. Or you can just get your money back and keep your upgrade and wait till the next best thing comes out. After 14 days are up, your upgrade is officially gone and not coming back.

After 14, you have up until 90 days from purchase to return the phone for the same exact phone. This is if you have a lemon. Is this the same as the manufacturer's warranty? Essentially, yes. One huge diff though. We guarantee you a new phone. Motorola won't.

.

My interest is solely on the policy regarding refunds. If what you say is true regarding the 14 day policy, I can't find support for the policy anyplace on the Costco website.

What I do find is the following

We guarantee your satisfaction on every product we sell with a full refund. The following must be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund: televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, iPOD / MP3 players and cellular phones.

The above statement pretty clearly states that that the refund period is 90 days for cellular phones.

Yes, the 90 days is for refunds.... not exchange for a different phone. But you say, "OK, give me the refund and I just go back and buy a different phone"... Nope, won't work. If you remember after the 14 day period, your upgrade with discounted price goes away. So, you can get a refund, but now your phone purchase will be at the full retail price.

I should have said I was just getting my membership online. I really just need to walk in and get the Bionic and be out the door due to work.

Well, that's not completely accurate. We cannot honor NE2 or one-year upgrades. However, if you qualify for a NE2, then you qualify for a 20 month qualified upgrade. You'd get $30 or $50 credit toward a phone using the NE2 through Verizon. We're at least $50 cheaper (in many cases more), plus you're always going to get a car charger, leather carrying case, and most often screen protectors with that.

I'm assuming you guys use eRoes too... Most resellers do. So what is a 1-year upgrade as opposed to a 2 year? My account shows eligible for equipment upgrade in eRoes, I'm assuming that means I'm safe to get my phone at costco?

I got a $10 cash back for new membership flyer in the mail a couple of days ago. My wife left it on the laptop, implying that the Costco deal was "in the bag". That girl knows me all too well. :D

IS IT THURSDAY YET??? :D

So what is the final verdict, is the original ad for real? Standard dock, vehicle dock and battery dock with extra battery?

Anything you can do at Verizon, you can do at Costco.

Another thing I don't **THINK** they can do, is put the price of the phone on your phone bill. Yankee, please let me know if this is not the case, as I would jump on this deal if this where possible. However, I do not think it is, and as such I will be purchasing at a VZW store instead (and shell out for the extras unfortunately)...

just got of the phone with bj wholesale. he said he would do the same package for me. we will see on thursday. they are a corp store no membership needed. will also honor ne2 discount.

Are you sure about the NE2? My friend upgraded by NE2 at our local Costco and he got he same price as the NE2 with the $100 discount on his Charge.

I wonder how long the lines will be?

And last Charge or Bionic? Oh maybe wont thread.

Costco wireless rep by me confirmed a "pallet" of the phones coming and an "unusually good" bundle with the phone :)

Now that is good news!! Thanks for the info. I won't be able to get to the Costco by me until noon so hopefully they'll have some left. I think they shall since it never seems all that busy at the one near me. Others I have lived near are mobbed all the time but this one is like a ghost town most times I've visited. Hopefully that'll play in my favor! I'm still calling ahead though just to be sure.. already got the number.. :D

I went by my local Costco today and asked if the Bionic would be here on the 8th... she kind of smiled and said I hope so... she also said that the pricing would be between $199 and $249... I said is this with the nice bundle of extras... not just a case and charger? She said yep.

Sweet price if that's the case. On a side note, she popped out the dummy bionic and I was kind of disappointed that it wasn't bigger. I know it will be heavier when it's the real deal but it seemed like it wasn't as big as the Charge. Oh well, maybe thats a good thing. I've got big hands, I want a tablet sized phone!
