Droid Bionic launching late April

I went to both of my Verizon's to ask when the Thunderbolt and Bionic were launching and they both said that the Thunderbolt is late Feb/early March and the Bionic is late April/early May. Which makes sense because 12 months in a year- 12 divided by 3 is 4 which equals 4 quarters so April is early Q2 like Moto said! :) Here's a chart of quarters: Q1 [Jan:Feb:Mar] Q2 [Apr:May:Jun] Q3 [Jul:Aug:Sep] Q4 [Oct:Nov: Dec]

is this a joke? at least you are not one of the idiots who thinks it is based on the fiscal year.

Surprised the ThunderB is releasing so close to iPhone fevah! This will cast a rather large shadow over any marketing efforts for the Thunderbolt. Media will have nominal focus on anything else. Consumers too, for that matter. Save for current Androiders who want to step up. My Inc will do for now. Me wants a 4.3" device anyway.

April/May seems best bet for premium level devices with the paradigm coming to VZW, via Apple. Bleh.

That's funny cuz my gf was getting a new phone yesterday and I was talking with the manager at the store and he said they have no idea when the Bionic is going to be released and most of the sales people don't even know what it is yet.

And lets not kid ourselves here, Verizon and Motorola aren't exactly great at getting shit released on time.

He also said they've already done training on the Thunderbolt so it can be released at any time now.

I can tell you this. No sales rep is going to tell you anything that is going to give you any hesitation is buying a phone that day.

most sales reps have no idea what they are talking about anyway when it comes to phones that havent been officially announced yet so i wouldnt put too much faith in what they say

I thought at CES Moto said it would be around June, which is about as mid-year as you can get. I never heard of an April release for it?

OMG two more months!! whatever will we do!!!! LOL

lol buy the thunderbolt then wait for the bionic then buy it.

It's annoying they show a phone 6 months before it releases..seriously?

these phones get replaced in 6 months after they release but we have to wait half a year for it come out. I've always had the flagship phone, on the first day it's released, I get it. Droid 1, Droid Incredible, Droid X (currently) and now I need a new phone. I got it July 16th and I hate having a phone longer then a few months...looks like i'll have this one for over a year since Moto is so slow unless I buy the thunderbolt? sorry i'm just so pissed, I was really counting for this phone to bow in April, I don't feel like paying full retail for 2 phones so close together. So I'll just pray it might still come out in April! Let us ALL pray.

At CES, they said it'd be early q2, which is April-June. Everyone has been assuming (hoping) that meant April. They better launch it early enough as the rumor mill is slating a Tegra 2 dual core Droid X2 in July.

Q2 in it's entirety is April-June. Early Q2 is April, mid is May, and late is June. They initially said early Q2 at CES, but it seems as though they have changed it to anywhere in Q2, so who knows at this point.

THIS sounds like VERIZON. Next report will say 3rd Q and we will likely see it black friday.

Typical verizon waits months after a similar phone is launched on another carrier. Oh well good thing I dont have an upgrade until July so I will be fine and im sure they will have more phones coming out around that time anyway

You do realise this is Motorola making the call and not Verizon right? Unless you're just complaining about Verizon having bad luck in picking phones.

If another phone comes out before the Bionic that's even close to as good, the Bionic doesn't stand a chance. It doesn't make sense to release the Bionic around the same time as X2 Droid 3, etc. I don't understand why they're waiting so long.

because those phones might not be 4g phones. right now the X2, INC2 and D3 are just words on a piece of paper. We haven't even seen these phones yet (although we have seen a couple of leaked images of what MIGHT be the inc. 2 or inc. hd) So I'm guessing those will be our Q3/Q4

They're probably not 4G, but my point is if the Atrix is a better phone and is being released really soon. Then why do we have to wait for summer for the Bionic? It makes NO sense. By then I'm sure other similar phones will be out and Motorola will have lost out on a lot of potential customers and the head start with dual-core.

Why leave the door open for the likes of LG or HTC to get a dual-core head start? Hell, LG is already talking about 3D phones.

so verizon should launch the bionic on top of the thunderbolt and the iphone? That wouldn't make any sense. You have to look at it this way. The bionic is actually launching at the perfect time. All those early droid adopters will be up for an upgrade this summer.

The HTC Thunderbolt is a WAY overrated phone, it's mainly a Droid X from HTC. I don't understand why HTC would put that much into a phone and not give it dual-core? Maybe they just rushed it out so they could be the first LTE phone. But this is EXACTLY my point. Motorola and HTC are essentially rivals in the mobile world, so why would Motorola let HTC grab all the early LTE adopters??

Or maybe they wanted to and verizon said no, which is why ATT has the better of the 2 phones??

And that other phone I don't even count. Anyone who's interested in that almost never will be interested in a Droid.

I'm just curious as to why the Atrix is better and comes early and the Bionic is worse and comes MUCH later.Release them both at the same time and get jump start on Dual-Core and LTE phones. But now they're probably be late to the game and lose the head start they could of had.

I'm interested to see what comes out at MWC. We know Nvidia will have the 3D chips ready by the time the Bionic is released.

because now that verizon is getting the iphone they are going to be like at&t and cater to that. They will put android on the back burner and wait to release the phones that if they released them right away would be huge sellers and top of the line when they are released. But verizon waits and releases a similar phone that has been out months with usually lesser specs

Yeah. But my guess is that this is more motorolas doing. By the time this phone comes out it'll be WAY outdated. Its almost outdated as it is. LG already abounding a dual core 3D. Was stoked for this phone, but now I couldn't care less.
