There's one thing that I simply CANNOT look past and it's hindering me from choosing the Bionic: the low RAM. Yes, I know folks are going to say that the RAM provided is sufficient and it's DDR2 but after being stuck with a lagging D1 (extremely frustrating), this is a risk that I'm just not willing to take (especially if I'm going to be stuck in a two-year contract). Either I'll get the S2 or wait for another LTE device to come along with "sufficient" RAM.

^Well...seems like you might have to find another reason to not want the Bionic:

The Ram was upped since it was first announced. It should have a different look too. So far I think it doesnt come with an SD card, but it does have alot of internal memory.

Doesnt matter to me about the SD card, I will use the one from my Droid 1 or Droid X1 (cuz one of those phones will be officially retired when I get my next phone) use one of my spare ones or just buy one thats a higher class.

Yes the RAM is confirmed as 1GB RAM by many valuable sources, plus it would be extremely stupid for Motorola to give us anything less.

...I always forget about the notification light. I didnt realize how much I used that feature. Yea...would be a hard choice for me...

I'm always trying to not use mine. I think it flashing all the time uses battery. I want the SGS2 over the bionic not sure why, maybe the looks!

I wouldn't be that skeptical like 10% on it having LTE. At this point, I'm 50/50 on it but won't be surprised when it turns out to be either way.

Galaxy S is their global flagship phone brand like Apple's iPhone but I don't think they are looking to standardize SGSII accessories like Apple. The original Galaxy S had four variants for U.S carriers last year. It's difficult to keep uniform form factor for U.S carriers as each has different high speed wireless standard (Sprint WiMax, Verizon LTE, AT&T HSPA+). Global SGSII is only about 8.5mm thin, so adding LTE with a few more millimeters isn't that big deal anyway. We will soon know what they have prepared for U.S anyway.

Another factor is that LTE is pretty big deal in Verizon and Samsung is well aware that lack of that feature in flagship device would be pretty big shortcoming for many verizon customers. Also I hear that Korean wireless carriers are pushing for LTE deployment in the second half of this year. So they should have started readying LTE version of SGSII quite some time ago at this point. So I think SGSII with LTE will be coming this year if not this summer.

You said that there was 4 variations for the galaxy s , how far apart was they sent out to the diff carriers?

If I remember correctly, the first one Vibrant dropped on T-mobile mid July and the last one Fascinate dropped on Verizon early September. So it was a little over one and half month.

Ouch. This is a huge deal breaker for me.

LTE will be very big soon. I go for 2-year contracts.

My next phone won't be for a while, and by then LTE will be in my area and I'll be mad I can't use it.

I have heard it will be LTE though! So I'm not yet worried.

Although it could be a possible OTA Update for LTE though ;)

I highly doubt that tiny LED notification light in the Incredible is going to use a significant amount of power.

Your probably right. I dunno, I just try to save battery all the time.

I'm sure drdoom is right, the LED can't possibly have any effect on battery. It also couldn't have cost Samsung more than a few cents. So I'm at a loss to explain why SGS2 and Charge don't have one!

If the Bionic were to have a 4.5" lcd, along with a faster dual core and LTE, an LED would be the least concerns for battery life ;)

I know the discussion is the SGS2, so just having fun :)

Both 4G phones coming July-August (estimated)

Which is better and why?
They're both better than my original Droid, which is dying a slow death (literally, as it's suffering the now growing issue where half the touch screen is inoperable, including the Home and Search buttons, and it's doing the phantom touch thing).

With my upgrade being available on 7/8, it's strictly a matter of which releases first. I'll be happy with either, I'm sure.:)

I have two weeks till I can upgrade and still nothing definite about these two phones! Ergggg!

That's the one thing driving me crazy. We have very lil confirmed about the Bionic other than dual core and RAM. We have all the specs of the Function, but we have no confirmation that LTE will or will not be included. And no time frame on either has been confirmed. VZW just likes to drive us crazy.

Well, damn. I was dead-set on the SGS2 but now I can't come up with a good reason not to get the Bionic, other than the fact that I haven't seen it in action yet whereas the SGS2 has had tons of real-world use and reviews by now. I'll wait until the Bionic has been out for a while and if most of the reviews are pretty good, it'll definitely by the Bio for me. If the reviews suck for the Bio, I'll go with the S2 or just wait for something else.
