Exactly. I don't get what the excitement over the Celox is. It's destined for Europe, along with the white SGSII. Everyone over at the Stratosphere forum is giddy about the Celox, but I feel bad for them. I doubt the Stratosphere is the SGSII.

But I really hope I'm wrong!

Well, Looks like Apple doesn't think Samsung is the only one copying them. Really any thin rectangular device with square touch screen, icons on square grid is their target. How can any manufacturer design touch screen android device avoiding this?

I think Archos should sue the crap out of Apple.

The first iteration of this was released in October 2009

The iPad was released March 12, 2010.

Those freaking thieves.

All this sue-happy garbage from Apple is further cementing my resolve to never buy Apple again.

It figures, though. Instead of trying to one-up the competition based on actual specs, Apple wants to cut the feet out from under everyone. Did Steve Jobs and Bill Gates have the same nursemaid?

Yeah, the LTE frequency is different by 100Mhz. But how hard would it be for them to swap it with 700Mhz LTE chip? Probably not so much and it wouldn't require redesigning phone in major way. I think there is good chance they have been developing Verizon version quietly alongside this one.

I "thank" someone anytime they provide information on something I wasn't previously aware of. Sometimes if it's not even something that benefits me, but will someone else. Or just makes me laugh. As everyone should.

I just need the Bionic to freaking drop already before some other phone starts to tempt me. At this point, it's like my awesome g/f lets me go out with guys, but we wind up at a strip club and every chick there is shaking their thing my way. You know you want to stay faithful, but damn, man!

Yeah, except that in this case she's not actually your girlfriend. All you've heard are rumors that she's hot, although she's got a weird hump in her back (which other guys say is "hot" but you know it's weird), you recently saw a few pics, most of which are blurry, and another that shows the body but not her head, and she keeps telling you (and every other guy in the neighborhood) that she wants a date, but she needs to check her schedule. August 4th? Sorry, I'm washing my hair that night. September 8? Let me check, but no promises.

Why the heck wouldn't you keep looking? Have some self-respect, man! ;)

Exactly. Even the baseband chipset will be the similar on 45nm silicon MDM9200 for GSM world and MDM9600 with the extra CDMA capabillity. So it doesn't look like Sammy is using anything new, but they've managed to make arguably the most beautiful LTE handset to date. I'm all over that one!
 
I REALLY hope that the SGSII is the Stratosphere, and that it comes out either on the same day or in the same month. .

I just can't get myself to commit to that crappy display.

From Droid Life's review of the X2 screen (which is the exact same thing we'll get on the Bionic, from resolution to screen size):

"After spending a lengthy amount of time (our review) with the DROIDX2 after writing this post, we can conclude that this might be one of our least favorite screens of all time. qHD to Motorola is indeed just a marketing term, because this screen is no where near HD-quality. You can see pixels on the device with a naked eye, colors are never correct, and the instant head pounding that you receive while scrolling through anything is something I&#8217;ve never seen from another phone. It&#8217;s not pretty in the Moto PenTile world."

Yep, pretty much. :D

On the pentile issue, it really is personal preference. I'm a graphic designer and artist and I had to see the pentile screen in action to see if it would be an issue for me. As soon as the D3 was booting and I could see that the vertical lines of the "M" were fuzzy I knew it was a killer for me. I would rather have clean, crisp lines at a lower rez than a pentile screen any day of the week. But then again, others might not ever notice it.

You just won't know until you see it (the Bionic screen) in person.:rolleyes:

They rated the X2's screen better than the Atrix, and I have used them both personally and would agree. Not all pentile screens are created equally. I thought the DX2 was at least in the "pretty good" category as far as overall screen quality goes, and there are battery gains to be had by using pentile.

The Atrix screen was not even "pretty good". I hated it. It's definitely noticeably worse that the DX2. I doubt the Bionic will be like the Atrix, but I do expect it to be like the DX2's screen. I just hope it has the solid feel to the back of it that the DX has. That's one of my favorite things about the DX/DX2.
 
I'm feeling a little OCD about these two phones! Everyday it's the same thing, rumors, release dates, looking for something new, etc. I am really torn between the two.

Exactly, it'd be like Ford saying, we hold pattens on a steering wheel, gas and brake pedals, a 4-wheel vehicle with an engine. Anyone making anything that has those components must pay Ford a license fee. uh, yeah, right....
