Played with the droid charge at the store yesterday. Nice screen. 950 quadrant out of the box. They must be kidding me with this hardware, right?

For some reason, I like Samsung. Mabye it is the screen or form factor. I don't know. And I don't think TouchWiz is that bad. When my mother was deciding between a Droid X, Droid 2, and a Fascinate, the form factor and screen pushed her into the Fascinate. The VZW sales rep told us that the Fascinate was one of their top selling phones that month.

I will have to stop into a VZW and see the Charge for myself before I pass any judgments.

That's why it's great that there are choices. I don't expect everyone to think like me. With phones anyway.

say what?...this is how 1 year old phones are supposed to score on stock clock speeds...brand new phones should be ashamed to score below 1000...

I can confirm this. 950 as it sat. However, the videos were hitting 55-60 fps. It felt heavy as well. Heavier then I would have expected for a Samsung. Still though, this will be a nice phone to root and custom.

Free quadrant, with a single value output, is absolutely and completely meaningless.

No diff if something scores very high or very low - it's meaningless.

EarlyMon, I've also been lead to believe that free quadrant scores, while not entirely accurate and easily tricked, are at least able to give a general idea of performance. Perhaps you can go into more detail about why this isn't true?
