Droid getting Froyo next week, Droid X? Not so much...

Damn, that bothers me a little. Considering we just purchased what is supposed to be the cutting edge device, we're going to be updated AFTER the original, discontinued Droid.?? hmmmm.

*Takes a breather*

I love my Droid-X just the way it is.

Remember the Original Droid is a Vanilla device. Meaning it is bone stock Android and requires much less dev and testing to have 2.2 ready for it than a device with blur.

Yeah, I know.....but it's still hard to accept considering Blur doesn't add anything to the phone that makes it worth the wait for 2.2. This is really why I jumped ship from HTC, because Sense was taking too long to develop upgrades that were compatible.

There shouldn't be a wait at all for us. The droid 2 has nearly identical hardware as us and it has 2.2 loaded already.

do you guys like your phone? would you ditch it for an inferior device running 2.2? would you switch networks to get 2.2? Then be patient. By the end of the summer, you will have the OS update you want on the phone you want on the network you want.

Hey, long time no talk!!

Trust me, we are starting to spit the bit over in the Incredible forum too! This news is a little more annoying than just dealing with the rumors.

Totally understand the raw OS on the D1 and all, but VZW should still update our phones (DX and DI) first.

I'm not surprised by this, considering that it was already known that the original Droid was going to be first in getting 2.2 before the X.

Yeah that was announced awhile back people just need to relax they have to make sure they send it out in the best working shape they can. Would you want them to rush and you have mulitple problems on your phone or wait a little while longer and it be nearly perfect? Im fine with waiting the little while extra im in no rush the X is amazing how it is.

and this isnt nescessarily true look at the eris when it got 2.1 it was awful for the majority of people with problems so if they released it and it was like that you would be on here complaining about how they should have waited and made it better

A lot of bugs can only be rooted out during real world use, which is why most software companies will release betas several months ahead of the actual official release. No many how many time they look at lines of code there are going to be things missed that only real users will uncover.
