I have a question to ask you guys. Before I do, however, you all think I'm a turncoat for going over to the DX, right?

In all seriousness no, though i think you'll call quality issue would had been better with a replacement. Bigger screen was something that was important to you so I for one don't actually hold it against you. I off course think/know the Incredible is the better phone of course:D:D

Now what was your question?

BTW, had half a smoke during the sleep over and think i'm done for good

Keep up the good work, bro. Stay strong! :)

Here's the question and the background. I'm so peeved about my DX's locked bootloader. When I went over to the DX it wasn't such a big issue because I wasn't rooted and modding was new to me.

A lot has changed. I'm a mod freak, now and I deeply resent a locked bootloader on my phone. My wife, who has a new DInc, told me she would be willing to switch back with me for a couple of weeks, for me to try it to see if I liked having an unlocked bootloader better.

My questions:

1) It seems quite easy to root/mod the DInc. Am I correct?
2) Do you think it's worth it?
3) What's your favorite Rom for the DInc?
4) Do you think I'm mentally ill?

Thank you. :)

1) In my experience it is now quite easy to root/mod the Incredible thanks to the unrEVOked team. It was quite an experience when I first rooted (no unrEVOked then)
2) Yes
3) Currently been running SkyRaider 3.5 almost exclusively. Dev is going to release one more update then is dropping development due to personal issues. I love Sense and for me this has been the best/most stable Sense based ROM.
4) YES;), but that has nothing to do with your questions:D.

1) omg SO easy the first time i rooted i had to do unrevoked and then unrevoked forever to get s off but now it is just one click and the program dose it all for you
2) I completely believe it is worth it you can do things with your phone rooted that you could have only prayed for stock and all that and the best part of the whole rooting thing it is 100% completely UN-do-able so you can go back to stock when ever you wanted
3) my favorite has to be CyanogenMod 7 it is the first stable release of gingerbread by CM7 and that RC1 drops tonight so i am uber excited
4) just you wait my good man once you flash your first rom and you come over to the dark side as NA calls you will be just as ill as all of us are lol

Well, I just pulled the trigger and rooted my phone. I was so nervous the whole time, but it went fine. I made a nandroid backup, and then got titanium and did a full backup there. Now I'm thinking about getting rid of some of the bloat. I can't decide if I want to go with a new sense rom, or just remove the bloat myself. Any thoughts?

I was also wondering if anyone was using ROM Manager? The guide I used says to get it, but there are lots of negative comments. Makes me a little nervous. Anyone?

I'm already on the dark side. I've put many roms on my DX, but I'm upset that the bootloader is locked, limiting my abilities. You said "one click" root. We have a program called z4Root that we use to root from within the DX. Do you all have anything like that or is it from the computer. That's ok if it is. Just asking.

Finally, I'll bring all the rest of my root questions to the dinc root section. Sorry for being OT.

I too have been thinking of it, i looked through the rom sub-forum and nothing was really doing it for me. Either way i'm sticking with sense and not a fan of the bugs that are a given with ANY rom. Don't care about OC'ing, if i root i can add my own apps that the roms provide and remove whatever myself. Unless of course there is something i don't know of course

OT?? LOL Really. I'm interested to hear about the different roms my self and its mostly a mad house in Inc root section:D
I know we'd be proud to have you back in the Inc community though Steven

Welcome to the darkside:D. I use ROM Manager from time to time and haven't had any issues with it. It is convenient, but it really isn't much more difficult to flash from within your recovery.

There isn't a program like that for the Incredible that I know of. The unrEVOked process does require that you connect to a computer, but once you run it, you are done.

Don't be shy about bringing your questions here. Of course, you will get more response in the root section though.

If you are happy with the stock ROM, you can just root and remove the bloat. If you are interested in modding the ROM, I would recommend that you find a deodexed version of the ROM. This makes it easier to install modified APKs and themes.

+1 on having Steven back in the Incredible community.

Ok bros. I'm coming over. As soon as I can get the time to call vzw to switch phones, I'll root hers.
