Personally, I'm somebody who believes in the "Use whatever device works for you" motto. I don't have anything against any of these companies or devices on the market. This guy is a friend of mine who goes way back though, so we've been talking some junk.
Background: I received my Incredible over a week ago and have been having a blast (coming from 4+ yrs of Blackberry). I told my buddy, who works for ATT and has been rocking an Iphone since day 1, about my switch to the HTC Incredible....
Here is his response....
"You flaming, ignorant Verizon dumb***,
First off, the new iPhone OS4 has multi-tasking and a ton of other sh**. The iPhone 4 has a 1GHZ processor -- the same one the iPad uses, which is blazing fast. The iPhone's internal memory of 16GB and 32GB is plenty. That's great that your HTC can go up to 40GB -- show me one person who can fill that much space. Even with all your porn movies, you couldn't come close to filling 16GB. And that's great you can change out your battery. How often do you do that, exactly, especially when everybody who as a cell phone has a car charger? Do you even own an extra battery?
Also, the iPhone has had picture messaging on AT&T for over a year, dumb***.
Verizon's "real 4G" network as you call it that they are working on is LTE (Long Term Evolution), which AT&T is also moving to. Here's the difference:
LTE runs off GSM, which AT&T already uses. Which is what the world uses. Sh*tty Verizon uses CDMA, which is what sh*tty Sprint also uses. That's why if you travel overseas on AT&T your phone works, and on sh*tpile Verizon you have to have a phone that uses a SIM card to switch to GSM.
See, your sh*tty Verizon phone gets a max download of 1.4 mbps right now, whereas my iPhone gets 3.6 mbps. This is from the Verizon website: "But...
what exactly is 3G?
3G brings wireless broadband data services to your mobile phone at average download speeds that range from 600 Kbps (that's 2.4 times faster than 254Kbps DSL modem connection) to 1.4Mbps."
No, Verizon -- 3G on a real 3G network is speeds up to
3.6 mbps (AT&T's speeds), and AT&T is moving on the path to LTE later this year when my iPhone starts getting
7.2 mbps. That's a sh*tload faster than Verizon. While you and your Android device are stuck at 1.4, which you will never even get during the day during peak times.
So, since Verizon is moving to LTE and has to change over their whole network since they are on sh*tty CDMA now, who do you think is going to pay for that? You, the dipsh*t who is still on Verizon.
And maybe your f*g buddies at the gym are jealous of your Incredible, but no one else is. Verizon would cream their pants to have the iPhone, just read the blogs. I guarantee if Verizon had the iPhone when you got piped on your new two-year contract with Verizon for your HTC, you would've bought the iPhone. That's what they'd be selling like hotcakes at the Verizon store, because it is the greatest mobile device on the planet. Period.
And as far as HD video goes, yes, the iPhone records in 720p HD, and with iMovie you can even edit and create movies on your device. Just like on your Mac. With the iPhone you can do all kinds of things you would normally need a computer for, which is why the device is so awesome.
The network supporting recording in 720p HD has nothing to do with it. You can plug your iPhone into your computer and upload your movies to your Mac or PC just like you would with your digital camera, and yes -- you do get full 720p HD. The only time the network is involved is if you are trying to send the movie to YouTube or via a video message. We don't know yet if they'll reduce the video in size at that point to send over 3G.
As for jailbreaking, all that does is create a huge security risk for your device. When you do some banking online from your device and your identity gets stolen from one of your "open" rogue Android apps, then you'll be singing a different tune, d-bag. Apple's App store has over 200,000 apps, a sh*tload more than Android's store, so that "closed" forum is a bullsh*t argument.
I could go on and on, but there is no need. So no, I did not get worked over by a guy not in the cellphone biz -- I got a rant from a ignoramus who's gagging on a mouthful from the Verizon propoganda machine. Take it from someone who has worked for both companies and actually knows what the f**k he is talking about -- Verizon is a huge pipe job.
I'll be getting my iPhone 4 soon. I'll give you a demo of its full HD video capabilities at the draft, when I record myself punching you in your eye in 720p.
"
I'll admit. Pretty good comeback, though my side hurts from laughing.
Thought maybe you guys would have fun w/ that. And, if you are rocking an Iphone, rock on. Use whatever makes you happy.
I know my Incredible has done just that!
