Dude the storage is really gonna kill me as everyone knows I am on the dark side and flash a new rom almost everyday... and the internal memory is NOT stock portioned meaning if you flash a new from or mod it wipes out everything pictures and music included. Making the nexus for rommers or developers just a phone and not much else

I have been told differently. Stuff on the virtual SD card stays there. I dont know cause I haven't done it.

I thought id check in. My wife and I are still rocking our original dInc's, and very happy!

I am a gadget nut, so it is extremely rare i am happy with a device for this long. I dont even have interest in looking at the new stuff!

Anytime i feel an itch to try something new, i update to the newest CM nightly, takes me an hour to get everything in order .. and im good for another month or so :)

Though i must say im itching for a new device, just not a phone! The new Tranformer Prime tablet looks to be just what im craving :)

The Dinc is a heck of a phone.. no doubt about it. Any replacement will have huge shoes to fill. The wife is getting a Kindle Fire for xmas. That will have to pacify us for a while. I'm like you though... I have a huge desire for a tab.

I actually never wanted one, i bought the ipad on day1, and returned it on day 2 ... just didnt offer anything new that i couldnt already do, so i couldn't justify the expense.

But the Prime is the closest thing to a laptop replacement i have found, and the specs make me drool. I fully anticipate my laptop collecting dust

My laptop is a boxed up Toshiba 386/20 lol. It's not seen the light of day in many years. I manage my social life and emails from my phone. I don't peruse the net a lot but my phone suffices for that as well. Where I suffer is the hours of reading here at AF. That might be sweet off of a tab vs sitting at this desk. I just don't feel comfortable managing my duties from my phone. I haven't dared to look at the new tablets for fear I'd just make myself miserable with desire. Maybe a craiglist used lappie would do me well. naaaaaaaaa... I NEED a kick butt tab :)

Do it I have the xoom and couldn't be happier and I haven't really used my laptop sense and now with it having ics and the new phone I am very set on tech for a week or two

Maybe after the Christmas dust settles I will start looking/dreaming about a tab. It's way out of the question right now. What browser does the xoom host?

That's the boat I'm in too... I'd love to have a decent 7-8 inch tab for pinch-less browsing, bedtime reading, and the like. The $225 Nook tab is enticing, but I'm also sensing (or maybe just really hoping for?) potential after-Christmas bargains... The $400-range samsungs and what-not look awesome, but that's just too rich for my blood.

Have you thought about the kindle fire?

The hardware limitations on that make me go "Meh..." I'd rather spend the extra $25 (B&N membership gets you a $25 discount on the Nook's) to get the Tab's better spec's.

Ultimately I think the Nook has much more potential as a "broadly useful" mini-tab, while the Fire is nicer from the perspective of integration with the Amazon product-space. Even at that, though, there are a fair number of performance complaints bubbling up on the Fire, and I'm not hearing that on the Nook Tab.

But what I'd *like* is more along the lines of the Samsung Tab 7.0+, or maybe 7.7... My sense is though that these are just the first wave- I think the price point on these is about to come down significantly as the "second tier" manufactures get their acts sorted out. When the Coby's and Viewsonic's are shipping dual core, good graphics subsystems, and good screens, there won't be as much support for the little tabs at $400 and up.

So while Amazon and B&N sort of surprised the market a little with their price points, leveraging their niche and placement in the reader market, I'm sort of expecting to see some nice little mini-tabs come out first quarter next year in the $250 range...

Merry Christmas to all my friends!!

Merry Christmas my friends. Gosh, I remember 3 phones ago I was modding CM6, then 7 for the DInc! Now I am rocking the hottest device Verizon doesn't care about. Which reminds me, I need to update my profile.

Merry Christmas my dear friends. Don't you just relish the warmth of our friendships?
Even though devices have splintered the masses we are still a tight group. I feel honored to be a part of this great group of people. Have a great holiday.

Amen reverend pipe man
