Is this forum still alive. I am testing the new forum app and can't find anything

Hey Musky, good to see you. Don't feel bad about not finding anything... you aren't alone. There is a promise of good things to come so hang tight. The forums should run a lot smoother and faster with the upgrade in place. And, it should be targeted to your device needs as I understand it. One way or another, the game is afoot.
I hope the world has been treating you at least half as well as you deserve.

You to olbriar!
I hope when the updates are finished, I'll be able to locate my tablet's forum again as well as follow some device forums for things I don't own. LOL

How has the Kansas weather been treating you?

How has the Kansas weather been treating you?

That depends entirely which day of the week you ask. We will have temps in the mid seventies and have freezing drizzle the next. Then mid sixties until we get into the seventies again just before another freeze. I have at least two days a week that are wonderful... no matter what sort of weather you like. And you?

Well, our drought is officially over. We have been getting the kind of rain we used to get when I was growing up here. Not to cold, and we get into the 70s between storms. Northern California has gotten record snowfall, which is really responsible for ending the drought. We get most of our water from the snowpack.

Have any of the tornados I've seen on the news been near you?

I'm glad your drought has ended. That's serious business.
No sir, we've not had any tornado warnings in quite some time. We managed to be tornado free last summer. That works for me.

It's been positive but like most things.. it's two steps forward and one step back. I don't know if I have mentioned it but I bought a used travel trailer last fall and parked it on the property as well. It's proven great for overflow company on the big holidays and has worked great for the weekends when it's just the wife and I down there. It has a queen size bed that sleeps great.
Not that sleeping in one of the many bunks I have in the cabin... it's just not like a real bed when there is just the two of us down there. The trailer is eight years old and well taken care of. However, it was lived in four out of seven days a week during that eight years. It was owned by an older single guy that was displaced from his home by his employment. Anyway.. the trailer had never been though a winter without heat. I shut the trailer down prior to our first freeze and winterized it. I think I have avoided any plumbing problems but the vinyl floor ripped. I can only think it was because of it shrinking due to the cold it had never experienced. It ripped from one end of the trailer to the other. I think I'll replace it with a kitchen type carpet come warm weather. And as luck would have it, my well pump quit me last weekend. Naturally it's just beyond it's warranty. It just locked up and thermaled out. I tried to pull the impeller but had no luck. It's seeing professional care now and should be ready to reinstall by next weekend. The flood I had last fall downed a few trees into the river due to bank erosion. While the river level is still down, I need to spend a weekend just trying to jack those up and get them out of the river. They are still attached by their roots to the bank.. it won't be any fun.

Having a cabin is much like having a home. There are always improvements you have in mind while you try to keep everything else maintained. Things on my list that have priority is now carpeting for the trailer as I mentioned. I want to redo the upper cabinets in the kitchen in the cabin to accommodate a vented range hood. Cooking for many seems to over power the air space in that little kitchen. And I would like to replace the two one hundred pound portable propane bottles with a fixed / serviced 500 pounder. I think it would save me money in the long run and I know it would be less hassle than running a hundred pound bottle to the coop to fill and rotating in the spare.

I have other wants but they aren't priorities. When I get permanent propane I want to plumb the trailer and my outdoor grills up to it. I want to hook the trailers black water system into my septic tank so it can be used and not hauled and dumped. I'd love to have a professional well put in with a submersible pump. I would not have to winterize it and I might have some better water. My shallow well water is fine to shower in and do dishes and such but we don't drink it. I've not had it tested but I have my doubts it's potable. The cabin has asbestos siding that was last painted before you and I were born. It looks ok but it sure could us some paint.
I have ham license and currently have a two meter station at the cabin. I'd like to put a HF rig and antenna down there just for kicks. You name it.. I want it lol.
Are you sorry you asked?

Wow! I didn't expect a novel for television!

Sounds like your wish list is growing daily! But most of it sounds like fun projects except for the pump issues and unclogging the river. I'm content living in a "golf course community" here in San Diego. I don't golf, but it's nice to have the greenery behind us and the HOA fees take care of any upkeep needed, so I've grown quite lazy in my retirement. Well, semi-retirement as I still take care of several clients networks, mostly dentist offices.

I think the forums are coming along as I was able to locate some of what I was following previously.

Yeah, sorry about that. I was embarrassed when I saw my dribble. I try hard to not expose myself to that entire list at once. It's the shock factor I'm afraid of.

I think the course community would have some real upsides. Love all of that groomed grass.
I cut professionally ya know.. The open feeling of a course would be a big plus for me too.
I played golf big time in my youth. Was on the school team and such.. it's a great game between you and yourself. Living on the course would appeal to me. I'm jealous.

As for the forums... it's a work in progress. It's a bit bright for me but I'll adjust. Navigation is improving, especially with the new mobile app. We've received a lot of input so far. Some kudos.. some distaste... and lots of things to fix and suggestions for improvement. As with all changes, it takes some time. Time to fine tune and time to adjust. The hope is to make a more positive member experience. They are working very hard to make that happen.

Oh I didn't mind the long post, I was just messing with you. That was supposed to be a smiley face, but it came out more of a scowl. LOL

Is there plans to make the forum compatible with Tapatalk again? I'm much more comfortable using that and it's more customizable then the new forum app.

I think the desire is to move away from Tapatalk but I could be wrong. I should know more than I do but I so rarely access the forums via a mobile device that I haven't paid much attention to either mobile forum app. I never had the confidence in Tapa to do any mod duties for one and secondly I rarely have time when mobile to mess with the forum. I hope that whatever happens it is well received. Forums aren't nearly as popular as they once were. We need to be more easily accessed with information at one's fingertips to remain a good source for the masses.

They stopped supporting Tapatalk. I understand why but I had a hell of a time finding the incredible lounge again! Steven! How are you doing?

Obitar, are the fires in Kansas anywhere near you?

Musky!

Doing fine. You okay? My business got very busy and I opened another studio. I am a NYC singing teacher, now. More than I can handle. Hope all is okay with you!

Steven

Glad you found your way. No, the fires are not close to me or my cabin. Thanks for asking. I don't know what you do if the fires are burning in your direction. Wish they weren't is about the only option I'm thinking. At least the winds have calmed some today. I hope that's the edge they need to get the fires under control.

I'm doing well, older and fatter! :)

I remember that you taught singing as well as singing professionally if I remember correctly.

I must say, the new forum setup has a steep learning curve! I had my favorites all setup in Chrome on my laptop and they're gone now, and my phone was setup in Tapatalk. I am trying to save forums in the new app but every time I try, it just shows all of my individual posts, thousands of them. LOL
