Hey guys, quick update:

Ok so I went into Verizon and started looking at the Incredible. I was a bit bothered by the fact that no Verizon rep came up and at least said hi or attempted to help me. But then again I look like one of "those kids" that comes in just to play with the phones (Long hair, looks 16, outside of the fact that im 6 foot 3 inches) and doesn't buy anything. Meh, whatever no biggie. I only go in there whenever I need a new phone or need something fixed, which is to say, like once a year.

Anywho, I messed around with the incredible for about an hour or so and was pretty blown away. I know I said the Sense UI and Moto Blur made little difference to me, but I retract that statement. Ive messed with my dad's droid x for HOURS and the UI never felt PERFECT. Sense does. Its really easy to understand and feels INCREDIBLY smooth. The only draw back is that I can't resize the Widgets, but thats not the end of the world.

I messed with EVERYTHING in the phone and spent a significant amount of time with the camera. The photos looked EXCELLENT on the phone but (after I uploaded them onto facebook) on a desk top they still feel like "camera phone shots". But considering everything else that I got around too, that feature seems less and less important. The camera will do for a simple point and click, pocket camera that I dont have now. I did notice that there was an automatic focus option to be turned off, is there a way to manually focus the camera? If so, that just put this camera WAY above anything else. Im a photography dork so dont mind my enthusiasm.

I messed around with the music player and radio and LOVED both. I completely forgot that it had a radio. That is a big plus too. Now my other question is based on the HTC Music player. I REALLY enjoy the player by HTC but is it possible to transfer my songs (and album art) over to the HTC player from itunes on my Macbook? I know there is a program called double twist, but im not a HUGE fan of that player, especially compared to the HTC one.

Lastly I forgot how much I NEED a GPS. Ill be the first to point out that Im 100% male, as in I always get lost and REFUSE to ask for directions. I messed around with the GPS/google maps navigation (I think thats what its called) and LOVED it. I plugged in my current location (Middle Va.) and set the directions to San Diego (I wanna live there :D ) and it came up super quick and I was super impressed. Course than I hit navigation and it started screaming out directions on full volume in the middle of an empty store...I was embarrassed ha ha. Again one question: Does the google maps/navigation cost any extra to have on the phone or use? Like I said, im male and GPS would be a BIG help for me.

Overall I came away REALLY impressed. Like I was stoked to go in and check it out but I was still a little skeptical. After I walked away, I honestly feel like this is going to be my phone. I REALLY REALLY like it. :)

Quick edit for pictures...I dunno why, I just wanna show them off :P. I really like the way the camera performs with close ups and depth of field. Again I wasnt SUPER impressed but for what it was, Im pleased.

Morning all. I have been catching up on the posts here in the forum and any mention of Apple or it's products has to stop! I feel as strongly as Nmayer does, but I'm a little more fanatical about it! LOL :D

That comes from being in the computer business as well as an indirect cell dealer for years, so I have seen Apple at it's worst, which I feel is normal for them!

That's all I'll say on the subject since I don't want to alienate anybody. (unless I'm provoked) :)

Oh, and BUMP!

Glad to hear you like the phone. It's a sweet one! :D

As far as the GPS goes, there is no extra cost with Google Navigation. If you wanted to use VZ Navigator though, I think it's $10 a month. I see no reason at all to spend the extra, but maybe some do.

Hey redraptor!

I didn't see your post until I had posted mine or I wouldn't have needed to bump :)

That being said, I'm glad but not surprised that you are impressed with the Incredible, it is awesome! I love mine and have had a few minor issues that were very correctable.

I can answer the last question easily, there is NO charge for using Google maps or Navigation, that is all part of your data plan.

As for moving your Itunes music to the phone, I believe they have to be converted back to MP3s and I know you'll need non-apple software to do this as Steve Jobs does not like you to leave his universe. :D

There are several posts on how to do this in the proper forums.

Good Luck! And WELCOME to our world!

Ha ha No I understand. Personally I HATE Apple's business practices but I ADORE their products. Normally I would say "screw you" to apple because of their business practices but there is a small family owned Mac specific shop that I go too for all my repairs and goodies and they, unlike apple, have been NOTHING but helpful, pleasant, and respectful. And that's why Im on a Mac and use an ipod. And thats all Ill say :P I give nothing but the most respect for you guys on here.

Very cool. Good to know about the GPS, like that there is another reason to get a smart phone. I want a GPS and I can get one right there in the phone and not worry about ANOTHER device.

Kind of a bummer about the music thing, but its no biggie. Ill prolly just stick with double twist for now and if there are any more problems then I can stick with my ipod when I need it.

We got new people in the Lounge? Welcome one and all n00bs to THE BEST DAMN Thread in the Inc. Forum!!!!

HA ha yeap. I be Matt and I've been stuck between getting a Droid X and HTC Inc. I think Im goint with the Incredible. Its VERY impressive, especially since Im used to a little LG Dare. Im hoping to upgrade in about a week or 2.

I understand, having a local "family owned" shop is always better, whether for PC or Apple. So I can see how easy that would be to get support The problem is, Apple is not licensing anymore small shops, so as they older ones close, they won't replace them. They prefer everything to be done through the "main" company site. That happened in the area I was living in, the few Apple stores closed and if you want anything done on your MAC, you have to ship it to Apple, as they won't even sell parts to independents.

EDIT: Hey Goat! What's up?

Because the powers that be, in all their wisdom, have removed the "sticky" status of the lounge. So we have to keep posting something to keep the lounge thread at the top of the front page in the forum.(As it should always be) We "BUMP" it up! :)

Well thanks for the useful info, I'll be sure to remember, also unrevoked 3.2 works great!

Yeah thats the problem I ran into. I first got my Macbook Pro about 2 years ago and had it for around 6 months before I inadvertently spilled an alcoholic like beverage ALL over the keyboard. Needless to say it kind of became sticky and difficult to use (Although still usuable), so I took it down to the Apple store (I had the insurance too) and asked if they could do something to fix it.

They took it in the back then came out and said it would cost a good 900 - 1300 bucks for fix and/or replace the parts. I was SHOCKED!! I mean I spilled liquid on the thing but surely it couldnt be THAT bad. I let my dad "talk" to them and they never budged, although a fellow "customer" suggested this small Mac shop that does repairs. We took it in, they looked at it, charged us 150 bucks for a new keyboard and now it works PERFECT.

I REALLY hope that shop stays around for a little while longer because I want to keep getting Apple products without the Apple...ness. Again I think they make EXCELLENT, user friendly, and solid products. Its just too bad the same can't be said for their customer support.

Sweet, I think that you'll be happy with the Inc. especially since scrren size doesn't appear to be a requirement.

I hate apple as well. Steve Jobs is the devil ;)
and not much Musky just trying to get back into the work rythm

Yeah It would be nice to have a larger screen but the ergonomics and feel of the Droid X is just WAY too off for me. Plus its size is just way to big to fit into the tight-ish jeans I wear. I like the Incredible, it seems like a good transition from an Ipod touch/LG Dare user. My biggest gripe is the camera/video, but thats something im willing to settle with. Honestly, If I had my way, I would be over at Sprint with an Evo...but im stuck with Verizon so that will have to do for now.

Video is ok but more than what I need it for, and I actually like the camera a lot
in perfect lighting conditions ;)
. As far ad the evo is concerned, it's an ok device, My dad has one (that I talked him into getting) and the phone has lag when switching home screens, even with 2.2. And he has hardly any apps so I know that isn't the cause. I think it has everything to do with Sprints Bloatware.

It definitely is Sprints bloatware. I recently updated my Sister and brother in law's phones to the EVO since they insist on staying with Sprint. And after removing all of Sprints apps that I could, their EVO's are pretty fast. Still not like the Incredible, but much better then stock.

Ha ha I just like the Evo because its essentially a Droid X in an HTC body. The screen size is right the camera is great and the shape and ergonomics are SO much better than the X. Seems like an upgraded DInc. Either way I know Ill be VERY happy with the Dinc. Ill prolly stick with a 1 year contract though, If I can.

I also like the Evo because of the name (My dream car :D )

That's what I figured, oh well he seems to like the Nascar app and all the other bloatware, and he really doesn't know better when it comes to the phones performance
