droid x 2! droid 3! inc 3!

I don't think I will get another motorola device again since they stated they will continue to block custom roms

perhaps. perhaps not. they released an update which coincides with part of the article i linked to . namely the "implemented" part

Well - we can hope. I think there will eventually be a follow-on to the Droid X, whether its the Bionic or some soon-to-be-announced Droid X2 remains to be seen. Time will tell...

with the uproar over the comment the moto youtube moderator made. I would love to think it's really in the works though

Android-life is pretty credible and confident though.

they have no sources...and their "timeline" is user suggested...

I'm sure we will see a D3, X2, and Inc2 at some point as they are all very popular phones...but this is simply an article looking for hits on their website if you ask me...

The real problem is the article doesn't actually say anything...

- They label it as "breaking news" when in reality its not news because they have no sources

- all they did was assume that these phones are getting sequels, and set their release dates as about a year after the previous version launched

- then they totally made up the idea that one of them might be getting a "stock" experience based on the comment from the Moto rep about working with partners...

this is no different than me posting an article saying...

"Breaking News! iPhone 5 to be announced in July!...iPhone 6 to be announced in July 2012!!"

anyone else read blackman x's tweet reguarding the inc 2? seems to be more than speculation according to him. he says its coming and is not a lte device.

I don't think the DX2 being 3G would be stupid IF it's true. There are plenty of people around these boards being very vocal about not wanting to have to pay for having 4G capabilities when they are nowhere close to having 4G up and running in their area. So if some of the OEMs have been paying attention and have decided to give the consumer a choice of either buying the 4G Bionic or the 3G DX2, then I think it shows they're trying to fill our needs pretty good.

As of right now it's not clear how Verizon is going to price the 4G phones. I'm just going by the way Sprint does it. My buddy has an EVO 4G, and he pays $10 bucks more per month for having 4G capability even though 4G is nowhere in sight around our area for some time to come. So if Verizon is going to drop the $50 dollar 2 gig cap/$80 5 gig cap on 4G plans, then I'm going to keep my 3G plan and its unlimited internet for as long as I possibly can.

im fine with te original x. im still oving this phone, it does everything i want it to do. onlything i didnt like was th emusic player. got a i pod touch 4th gen so that doesnt even matter. wonder what would make the droid x 2 so much better that i would feel the need to upgrade. guess i will see.

Hmmm....keeping the same battery is pretty lame. Especially if the rumors are true about dual cores using more juice than their single core counter parts. That and if I had to guess I would probably lay money on the higher def screen being less efficient, although I could be wrong about that.

All in all it sounds like a pretty modest upgrade from the current X. But then again so was the Droid 2. Perhaps what we can start expecting out of Motorola when they release a follow up model is basically the old device with a slight tweak to it instead of something completely reworked. For instance I had sort of imagined that perhaps the 'X' name would carry Motorola's flagship device from summer to summer. But this doesn't necessarily swem to be the case.

Although certainly none of this is exactly set in stone as of now by any means.

I'm thinking they're probably not trying to entice current DX owners to upgrade as most of us are locked into 2 year contacts on them. Instead it looks like they've built upon a solid platform a phone that will be attractive to those customers that are looking to get a new device this summer, were impressed with their buddies DX, but wanted something a little more up to date. If that's the case, sounds like they hit the nail on the head.

But I do wonder, have they announced what, if anything, they are going to replace their 'new every two' plan with yet?

No LTE..?? not enough to upgrade IMO, bionic at this point looks more attractive

I'm happy that they're keeping some top notch 3G phones around. Not all of us are in the initial 4G markets, and I can do without the extra data charges since I won't have the coverage.

For us folks that wont be seeing LTE for at least a year there is no point in getting a Bionic. This would be a fine place holder on a 1 year contract until LTE gets here. I am irritated that the dedicated camera key is gone. Hopefully they will put it back before productin begins.
