Root Droid X/2 Overclock App - Easy & Noob friendly ;)

Omg just ran quandrant 2x and got 17xx! I get 14xx usually on stock.
1.35ghz on low voltage! Stable, And no turtling! My phone kicks ass!

If you run it several times in a row, you might break that. I ran quadrant 4x and got over 17xx on 1.25 lv. I'm leaving it here for now because I still have decent battery life and it seems stable (no locks/reboots).

Now im trying MV 1.35 again.
What is the Stock V (@ 1ghz) and how do the ULV, LV, and MV compare? As much as Id like to run 1.35, even scaled, I barely got a day out of my normal battery yesterday. Wonder if I should look at ULV to get closer to stock V? Id rather have ULV @ 1.15 and get 12-14 hours, than LV or MV at 1.25/1.35 and get 10 hrs ya know?

There's another recent thread in this section where some of the stock voltages are listed. I apologize but I don't have a few moments to add the link, but you should find it okay I think.

If you're getting that many hours out of your regular battery you're doing as well or better than I am. That's why I'm leaving mine at 1.25 lv for now. I hit 30% of moderate usage at 5pm (unplugged since 7am, so 10 hours). I charged it back up to 60% on my commute home and it lasted the rest of the evening with light use. Plus, I did hit over 1700 Quadrant with this setting -- it just took a few tries. :) Before that it was in the mid 16's. Enough to eliminate some of the lag.

While running 1.3 using Nav, I seemed to have stuttering issues with the screen, and an occasional reboot. Obviously ymmv since it's different per phone.

Two things are NEEDED for this app.
1: The ability to import current settings into the custom profile builder.
2: The ability to read the current voltage settings, not just the clockspeed.

Honestly, taking care of #1 will effectively fix #2 at least in a roundabout way.

I was able to run 1.45Ghz ULV through a bunch of benchmarks and 1hr of Angry Birds/Reckless Racing with no problem, not even alot of heat. Then an hour after not using the phone it just rebooted while idle which makes very little sense. I've been running 1.25Ghz ULV for 2 days without a reboot, but would like to play with the 1.45Ghz ULV settings and "tweak" those values a little. Unfortunately the ULV voltage settings aren't documented anywhere, so there's no way for me to build a custom profile with the ULV 1.45 settings.

Please add the "import" functionality to the custom profiles, or at least add a way to read the current voltage settings.

2.2 OTA release day X (from walmart).

ULV voltages are -4 under stock (medium)
LV voltages are -2

Disappointed to find out low voltage is above stock.

I see no reason to try medium voltage unless it's just to see what happens.

1.45 at low voltage caused a reboot before finishing my first quadrand run.
1.35 at low seems ok.

1.20 at ultra low seems ok.
1.25 at ultra low seems ok.
1.30 at ultra low seems ok.
1.35 at ultra low seems ok.
1.40 at ultra low seems ok.

Just set to 1.35 at boot.

Anyone know a good burn-in app?
 
SetCPU has a stress test under info that's good for testing. Need to make sure your screen is set to not sleep if you want to see the results.

Crashed 1.40 at ULV with a 3 minute stress test, yet ran 10 minutes at 1.35 so guess I'm leaving it there for now.
 
Can somebody explain what "Set Governor" actually does? I tried each setting and "OnDemand" makes my phone lag like no tomorrow.

And what would you say "HIGH" temperatures would be at? I haven't seen higher than 102F and most times I'm at 98F.
 
the govenor (not Govanator, hes in Cali) sets the "speedstep" of the clock. IE: if its on demand, it will slow to the min when nothing going on and then when you open an app it ramps up as needed - thats on demand. Performance is just set to the highest clock at all times. obviously this murders your battery but is good for "stressing" or game playing.
There is also userspace, but i dont know what it does, and SetCPU says that its only for odd reasons and probably not for regular people.

Something strange has happened over the last few days. i have been able to overclock to any ulv frequencys 1.45, 1.35, 900, ect. and as of today my phone only lets me go up to 1.25 ulv without rebooting. i have not changed anything, does anyone have an idea. thanks

Medium is stock.

Low is 2 volts under stock.

Ultra low is 4 volts under stock.

High is 2 volts over stock.
 
so Ive been playing with Linpack this AM and my results with that suck! Im getting about 17Mflops on 1.25(LV), 1.35(LV) and 1.45(MV)ghz!

Never tried Linpack before (only Quadrant). I'm running 1.25 (custom voltages: 36, 57, 58, 69).

Quadrants usually run 1500-1575.

Just tried a couple Linpacks and got 16-16.5.
 
Ive never tried it either, which is why im confused that although i get better quadrant scores on higher freq, my linpack score is basically the same on all 3 settings.
Plus im no where NEAR the top of the pack for scores even @ 1.45ghz! (governor set to performance)

Got it on the initial startup after the update. Reloaded and its ok now.

Linpack is optimized for HTC devices. X scores in linpack are only good when comparing to other X. I'm not sure exactly what causes it, but read some where it was a moto thing.
 
this is only true for stock speeds... if you choose a higher frequency the volts go up... for instance 1.2 on low volts is

"Stock" refers to the voltages from this chart in JRummy's app (under Help/About). Check your frequency below for "stock" voltage, then adjust up or down:

High = +2
Medium = 0
Low = -2
Ultra Low = -4
