Root Droid X/2 Overclock App - Easy & Noob friendly ;)

Awesome app! Thanks jrummy.

What is considered the highest safe temperature for X? Does the X have overheat protection, will it restart before frying the cpu?

Are there any good free stress test apps out there?

80% after 60 hours isn't all that great. You DID see I said light use? Actually I had 90% a couple hours ago.

Battery mode: maximum battery saver (under settings)
Use wifi when available (home and inlaws only), using y-5 to toggle on/off.
Turn off GPS, wifi, bluetooth when not being used.

Maybe my definition of light use differs from yours. I just couldn't imagine my battery lasting that long. But I play with my phone a lot. I don't work and only go to school a few hours a day and do all my web activity from my phone.

ULV= ultra low voltage, the lowest setting in the app.

BTW, stock clock is 1000 so 1300 is a 30% increase in speed, not too shabby.

Not exactly...read up on processor scaling. I posted this over on df.net but no one seemed interested :D

This could have been a lot more exhaustive...and i know some people are doing far more extreme things than i on both the upper and lower ends of voltage and frequency, but this was really just for piece of mind for myself and i thought i would share.
UULV:
1000mhz-56vsel
800mhz-52vsel
500mhz-42vsel
300mhz-27vsel

Stock:
1000mhz-62vsel
800mhz-58vsel
500mhz-48vsel
300mhz (manually set for consistency) -33vsel

movie mode (i play lots of movies over HDMI at my GF's, this setting is just to ensure solid playback.)
1200mhz-64vsel
rest same as stock

I did not discard any outliers, these scores are all sequential. The purpose of this was to see if i could detecting any throttling due to voltage starvation at my uulv setting. My benchmark scores are a little erratic at 1.1ghz 58vsel and very erratic at 1.15ghz 58vsel. i get tremendous battery life at 1ghz 58vsel, so i thought i'd try and take it a little bit further.

my 1.25 setting is acting really weird, seems like its turtling, even though my 1.35 was really smooth and had Better battery than this 1.25...
what should i do? 1.3? 1.2? raise / lower voltage?

can someone list the settings(from boot, scaling, etc) they've found to be stable/beneficial? I tried this app but hasd no luck whatsoever. I know enough to be dangerous at best.

If the default settings (ulv, lv, mv) don't cut it you might just have a crappy proc and stocks all you'll get. Other settings arre for tweeking after yoi find a good 'default'

so, for example, just select ulv (1.35mhz?) no other settings needed?

do i adjust.............

CPU frequency scaling = ?
Set scaling frequencies = ?
Set frequencies at boot = ?

(((sorry for being so green- )))

I rooted my droid 2 days ago got overclock but not sure what to set at know I have every thing set at 1.3 and governers on performance I kinda understand the freqs but lost on governers. help

The governor dictates when the phone modifies the frequency, based on processor load. SO, with the governor set to performance, the phone will stick at 1.3ghz and never drop. IMO, there is zero reason to do this. Its going to decimate your battery life.

So then on demand would be the correct choise for battery lfe. So now my celing is 1.3 but if demand is less it will go down. So if I set the phone at 1.45 Performance it would self distruct in about 10min lol Thanks so much Im starting to understand it know Larry

i'm running the Apex ROM with nextheme (if that matters) and i turned off the overclock built-in. whenever i set the frequency to anything above 1100 it bogs down intensely. it doesn't freeze up, but it's close to it. even if i put it on high voltage and 1.2 GHz it bogs down. is my phone a dud or is there something i'm missing? thanks.

How did you turn off the overlock? I didn't see an option to do that. I'm also running APEX and it was restarting when stability testing using angry brids. Seems to work ok with the -lv option though.

in terminal emulator i just typed in

su
overclock -off

after this I reboot the phone and setcpu reads 1000 as maximum which indicates to me that it turned it back to stock. i then proceed to use the app to overclock and, aside from 1100, i can barely even get to the home screen with any overclock settings. i was really hoping to be able to use this but unless someone has any ideas i will have to abandon it. :( any help is greatly appreciated.

i can get 1.25 in LV mode, but thats about it (aside fro,m the 1.1 in ULV)

no idea here either (do you use it in boot up?)

not set on boot. when i reboot it resets the settings to stock. i can't even get back to the homescreen usually so i have to hold the power to turn it off.
