Root Droid X/2 Overclock App - Easy & Noob friendly ;)

I got an error when I first installed and rebooted and it resolved itself.

I think you guys that get an error after an install or upgrade just need to reboot.
 
I was having some of the error messages you guys are having. I did a hard reset and everything worked fine after that. I LOVE THIS APP! Thx Jrummy!

Yeah I ran the "stock" 1.1mhz normal and "stock" voltage, even ran the "stock" 1mhz low voltage (which btw had the worse batter life EVER).

After I saw the true stock settings on here I ramped it up to 1.1 with the true stock voltages, runs great and for some reason after 16 hrs of uptime I still have 80% bat left, makes no sense unless the amps adjust - the wattage has to remain the same I would assume.

Nice app, worth the $ but "stock" needs to be true "stock", way under the norm - makes a little bump in speed unstable.

I still am having the same issue as I was having before. It comes back almost every reboot and i can only make the app work again by FC then Clear Data.
 
With all of these additional features will they conflict with my current root apps that already do block adds and keep the memory free and change the density?

Not if you don't enable them. :)

New update this morning fixed me right up. There was even a reference in the release notes to an error with some of the files not installing correctly. :) Thanks for the update!!!!!
 
This app is Awesome! I love it!
One question for you overclockers - Ive noticed that after about 45 Min of Navigation, it freezes and reboots: Do i need more or less voltage? I would assume more, but then i thought maybe its over heating and less volts would be better?
Thought? (im at 1.35 and 70vsel)
 
Best to try lowest voltage and see how high you can go and still have it stable. If it crashes or reboots, drop it back one. I made it one week at 1350, before I dropped it back go 1300 after a dialer crash/reboot so I think I'm pretty close now.

IMO, no reason to go medium voltage or higher unless you're just getting evidence for bragging rights since all you're doing is creating unnecessary heat and running down your battery.
 
I moved down to 1300, hopefully thatll end that problem. I have basically no issues @ 1350 except the nav issues.
 
If you purchased "setcpu", there's an option there to burn it in for awhile. I went 15 minutes w/o crashing so figured I was close.
 
Hello all I have a Droid X with Simply Stunning Rom and want to overclock so I bought the DX/D2 overclocker app and it had a 1.3ghz.preset option so I figured that would be a good start. My question is will my battery drain mugh faster now and will I do any long term damage to the battery? I also set it to auto start overclocking once phone is on? Thank You
 
I'd recommend turning the start at boot off until you run it for a while stable. People have bricked their phones like that. I don't believe it does long term damage to your battery, cpu maybe but from what I've read its minimal and not an issue. Battery drain will be higher tho. I am using the 1.25 ultra low voltage setting. The lower the voltage, the better the battery performance. But the draw back is the phone can't handle higher speeds with the lower voltages.

Try the lowest voltage and you shouldn't hurt battery life or risk damaging your phone.

You can check stability with setcpu's stress test or running benchmarks like Quadrant.

If you can run it under stress for 10-20 minutes, you have a candidate for setting for boot. If it crashes, or develops issues, try a lower setting.

I see no reason to use medium or higher voltages unless you want to wreck your phone.

FWIW, 1.35 at ULV was stable for me for a week. Then I had a goofy dialer crash I hadn't seen before so dropped it to 1.30.
 
Ulv is a HUGE battery saver for me. The other day I had 24 hours unplugged and was at 40%. I'm a fairly heavy user (my phone works as my pc because I can't get dsl where I live) and while that was a slower day than usual, I still used the phone a pretty decent amount. It also makes the battery charge a lot faster. Which would be reason enough for me alone lol
